I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. I turned 40 this year and decided that enough was enough. A co-worker mentioned that she had the lap-band surgery and gave me the name of her doctor. I did some research and thought that the lap-band would be a good fit for me as well. My insurance required blood work, a nurtritional consultation and a psychological evaluation so I started on my WLS journey. It was during my visit with the psychologist that she recommended just looking into the VSG since I had mentioned how much I HATED to vomit. When I did my research on the VSG vs. the lap-band, I started finding a lot of people with the band were not happy and going in for a revision to the VSG. It was at this point that I decided to change my surgery to the VSG. I was approved for surgery on June 15, 2012 and my surgery was July 10, 2012. I have not looked back. My surgery was very straight forward with no complications. I am very please with my steady weight loss so far and I am enjoying my journey to a new, healthier and happy me! Good luck to each of you on your journey! :)
