    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Emily! I was the same way I think it was the reality of "this is it". And everywhere I went, I'd see McDonald's, etc. and think to myself "never again". I was starving! (Or so I thought) But I'm happy to say that I made it and I'm currently in my hospital bed having been sleeved Monday night. You will make it as well. Keep the faith. Sent from my iPad using VST
  4. Hi. I was sleeved last night at 8:00pm! Mind you, I was scheduled for 2:30! We got to the hospital at 11:30, was brought into preop and hooked up to an iv and laid there until 7:30. CRAZY!! I didn't have anything to eat or drink since Sunday night. I went thru fits of laughter and fits of tears. As the time passed, nurses came and told me that everyone that was scheduled after me has been cancelled. My surgeon finally came out and said that the person scheduled before me took so much longer because of how large the hiatal hernia was. He said he was up to doing my surgery and had a room but wasn't sure if a team could be gathered and I asked if I could be scheduled for the next day and he said he was booked until Friday. I only had banked a few weeks of sick time at work and this would delay it by a week! Thankfully (although how I was feeling around midnight I wasn't so thankful), my surgery happened. I've not hand gas pains yet (I'm told it comes day 3?) but it's EXTREMELY painful getting out of bed. The largest incision is where all the pain is. I've had bad headaches and I'm sure the pain meds are the cause. But, I'm walking the hallways. Tolerating water and they just added apple juice. Tastes so good!!! So, I'm hanging in there and looking forward to going home tomorrow. They just don't let you rest!!! Someone else coming in and out every 45 minutes. A tray, hope to be glad to be in the other side of my surgery date. I know it'll get better, I just have to get through this part. Sent from my iPad using VST

SO FRUSTRATED!!! been at the hospital since 11. I was supposed to be operated on at 2:30. At 3:00 they took me to pre op and put the iv in. That was 3 HOURS AGO!!! They cancelled all the surgeries after mine and they are still doing mine. I've been on clear liquids Friday thru Sunday and have had NOTHING since 9:00 last night. I'm anxious enough and this is driving me crazy!!
  6. Is this wrong of me? I'm getting sleeved in about 6 hours...leaving for the hospital in 2 1/2 hours...and I'm catching up on "DEXTER" of all things!!!!!!! LMAO Sent from my iPad using VST

We are all going to be GREAT!!!!! I'm going to be checking in to the hospital at 12:30p.m. PST. I am a nervous wreck and keep packing and unpacking and I'm most hysterical about being away from my dogs! I'm not married, I don't have kids, I live alone so they ARE my kids. I'm going to my mom's directly from the hospital and won't probably see them for at least a week. I guess I'm projecting. Ugg. Sent from my iPad using VST
  8. So, I'm scheduled to be sleeved in 3 days. My pcp sent me a message last night saying my pre-op blood and urine test shows a bladder infection!!! I've never had one before...and I'm guessing it was caused by the aggressive killing of a bacterial infection they discovered during my endoscopy. It was a bunch of medications (called a Prev PAC). I looked it up and it does show that a UTI can be a side effect. Will this stop the surgery that's scheduled on Monday? I'm freaking out because I'm officially on medical leave after today and the temp they hired to fill in for me started yesterday. I can't change my time off. Sent from my iPad using VST
  9. Thank you. Excited but petrified. Good idea to think of scale going down. That and the motto "nothing tastes as good as being healthy and thin feels" Sent from my iPad using VST
  10. Hi all. I'm getting sleeved on Monday the 15th! Can't believe it's finally here! Scared and excited. Can't wait to join you all on the losers bench!! Had a bit of a fright...got a UTI and was afraid they'd postpone the surgery but since it can be cured with a 3 day course of antibiotics, I'm going to be good to go in Monday. 11. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that when the lortab wears off, you have a bad headache. You just been pumped with a lot of meds on top of the anesthesia. It's leaving your system. Try some children's liquid Tylenol. Just double the kids dose (that's what my surgeon said to do if I have headaches after) Sent from my iPad using VST

Oh!! Monday the 15th seems right around the corner AND forever away. Make any sense? Tomorrow (Friday) is my last day of work. Really panicking. Heart is racing. Can't sleep. And I admit, I'm wanting to eat everything in sight! I'm trying my best to avoid it...I started my preop diet on September 29 and lost 10 pounds and now I'm feeling defiant when it comes to food. Saturday at 7am begins my all clear fluids only for the bowel cleanse. Anyone going through this?? Sent from my iPad using VST

It's so funny you say that. Same thing happened to me. Originally the doctor who did my endoscopy said all was good. Then a week later my surgeons office called to see how far along I was on the Prev PAC. I was like "Prev PAC? What's that?" They were SHOCKED that the doctor who did my endoscopy never called me to tell me that I had a bacterial infection. And my surgeons office then gave me the Prev PAC. Don't panic. It will all work out. Sent from my iPad using VST

Don't panic. I had it as well. They put me on what's called a Prev PAC which is a very aggressive group of meds I had to take 2x day for 14 days. Just ask you doctor for the medication ASAP. Hopefully it won't delay your surgery. Mine is 10/15 and I saw my surgeon today and he said mine is dead and gone. Let us know!!! Sent from my iPad using VST
