October Sleevers-Weight Loss Stall/Slower Loss Now
Aimstergal replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hope you're right! Because I'm feeling like I did BEFORE the surgery...another failed "diet" and this one cost my insurance close to $100,000. If I can't make this one work, I don't know what I'm going to do...this tiny loss doesn't make any sense... :-( -
October Sleevers-Weight Loss Stall/Slower Loss Now
Aimstergal replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
THANK GOD I LOGGED BACK IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sleeved 10/15 and have only lost a total of 49 lbs. I'm constantly in tears about it. I wake up at 5am every other day to go to the gym before work. I admit to having a cupcake in the office here or there...or a frozen yogurt with toppings but still, I haven't lost ANYTHING in 2 months...if anything, I've gone up 6 lbs. And it makes no sense. The quantity isn't bad, I'm not eating fried foods, fast foods, I'm getting in my Protein, drinking tons of Water, I'm working out...and it's gone UP! Looks like the 7 month - 8 month time is whre people are truly stalling...I've been feeling like such a failure... :-( -

Oh no... Getting Sleeved while on my period
Aimstergal replied to Bree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First take a deep breath! I had my period when I was sleeved...and it was the "heavy" part. They give you this mesh underwear that a GIANT pad will stick to...you're asleep when they put in the catheter and asleep when they take it out so you won't notice it at all. Just remember, they are used to all scenarios. There will be nurses to help you, etc. Hang in there! -

Hang in there. The stalls are horrible. Going through the same thing myself. Surgery 10/15. Are you checking your inches? Even though I haven't lost for a few weeks, I'm fitting into most LARGES instead of XXL!! Plus, my doctor told me not to focus on number of pounds but percentage of weight loss. That helped calm me. Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

I'm so excited and had to share. I have been in a stall for about 2 weeks now...been teetering over 200 and going INSANE to the point where I was questioning whether the surgery happened and/or if I was the ONE person it wasn't working for.... Well, this morning, I hopped on the scale and I was 199.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been below 200 in over at least 15 years! I actually did a Julie Andrews spin around my apartment (Referring to "the hills are a live...with the sound of music"). -

Your doctor is crazy. If you see above, 30-40 since mid October (which INCLUDES pre op) is pretty much where we, who were sleeved mid October, all seem to be. I've been told that the more you need to lose, the quicker it comes off. Give yourself some credit! You've done great!! Sent from my iPad using VST -

I started the preop diet on October 1 (235 lbs), was sleeved on October 15 (217 lbs)...currently I'm 202. I've been EXTREMELY frustrated...and stupidly have been getting on the scale daily...which I know is a no no....but I still do it...and when it fluctuates and goes UP, I feel like the surgery didn't work, I'm a failure and old sabatoge thoughts enter again. I'm never going to cross into the 100's. I was feeling like it wasn't working for me...Since October 1, I was thinking "only 33 pounds". A friend pointed out something that was eye opening to me...I had been carrying around the equivelent of a 5 year old child!!!!!!!!!! So now when I see a young kid on the street, I remember I lost the equivalant! That's HUGE! And recently, I found a pair of jeans, size 14, that I fit into over 10 years ago (prior to the surgery, I was a size 20). The zipper was broken...which I obviously broke the day I realized they didn't fit me anymore. I dont' know why I've kept them all these years but there they were. I told myself to take them to a tailor to fix the zipper. I picked them up but certainly didn't try them on. No way would they fit... Today is Friday. Casual day at work. I looked into the closet for a pair of jeans...and there they were, still in the cleaner plastic. I laughed to myself...because this morning, my scale said I had gained 2 pounds, and to punish myself, I decided to attempt to put the jeans on...so I could go back to the "failure" mode.... Guess what? I'm sure you know...THEY FIT! THEY CLOSED!! I completely did the Julie Andrews on top of a hill spin. My dogs started barking at me...I had the biggest **** eating grin on my face. Lesson learned...just because the scale isn't saying it, the inches lost say it loud and clear! It's a great day today. :-) -

Men, close your eyes if you're uncomfortable with menstruation talk. LOL I was sleeved October 15. Prior to the surgery, I was on a Prev PAC for a bacterial infection they found during the endoscopy. The Prev PAC caused a UTI. So, that's a heck of a lot of meds in my system before the surgery. The Friday before the surgery (3 days) I also seemed to have gotten my period but it had been odd prior to it and the doctors said it was all the antibiotics. I had bright red bleeding after the surgery. The nurses kept saying it was menstrual blood. Since the surgery, I've had "drops" of extremely diluted blood in my urine, but only when I've wiped. Did a urine test and had ANOTHER UTI. They told me catheters can cause that. Took the meds for that. Once that 7 day med cycle was over, I was still having the same issue. I did another urine test and they found nothing. Doctor said it could be still catheter irritation. Really? 2.5 weeks after surgery still? She said it could be unique to me. But then, I seemed to have a full on period. So i couldn't tell if i still had the problem or if it was actually my period. Cramps, PMS, etc. so I'm pretty sure this is the real thing. However, it's EXTREMELY heavy. I mean, soaks thru tampons in little over an hour, a few times a day. In between, it's light. I have an appointment with my gyno on Tuesday but was wondering if anyone else had this issue? I did a search online and there is mention of rapid weight loss can cause hormone issues thus causing heavy flow. I wouldn't call 26 pounds since October 1, rapid. Any ideas? Thanks everyone. I hope that's all if is. Tuesday can't come quick enough!! Sent from my iPad using VST

I did call the nurse line and they said if it's soaking through every hour constantly, then there's more of a concern and that seeing my doctor on Tuesday should be soon enough. She also said the blood clots I'm passing sounds like period stuff as well.? Sent from my iPad using VST

Could be!! I hope that's all it is because other than period stuff like cramping, I feel really great. Lots if energy, etc. dare I say I feel happiness as well?? Sent from my iPad using VST

Should I Be Freaking Out Like I Am?
Aimstergal posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow makes it 3 weeks out for me. Since my surgery, I've only lost 7 pounds!!!?? Total since preop is about 24 pounds. How come it isn't coming off so quickly for me like everyone else it seems?? I'm following the diet, trying to get all my Protein and Water in, walking as much as I can ( my feet swelled and its painful). I feel like I'm doing everything right. But it's not working!! Any advice would be appreciated. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Hi Whitney. I think most people are posting weight loss that INCLUDES the preop time as well. You're only 2 weeks out! Add the 7 to whatever you lost prior to the surgery. 7 is amazing in 2 weeks! -

Teachers....how Much Time Did You Take Off Following Vsg
Aimstergal replied to Mrsdw206's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I'm not a teacher, however, I think that's way too soon for you to return!! You're still going to have incision pains not to mention being very tired. I assume you're on your feet most of the day. I was sleeved 10/15 and it was at least a week and a half where I wasn't woozy not to mention that's how long the pain took to be somewhat tolerable. You need to give your body time to heal. I'm going back to work on Wednesday and that makes me having been out for 3 1/2 weeks and I'm still not back 100%. Beyond the physical healing from the actual surgery, there are other things that need to settle down. Some people have bathroom issues the first few weeks...some bad gas pains...some holding anything down. I'm learning that all the classes, support groups, readings, research, etc. I did before the surgery didn't even come close to some if what I'm dealing with now. Please listen to your body. It will have gone thru a major trauma and needs time to acclimate to your new stomach. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Should I Be Freaking Out Like I Am?
Aimstergal replied to Aimstergal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess the fantasy exceeded my reality. I've been pretty depressed for some reason. In the last 2 1/2 months I've quit smoking (after 25 years) and diet coke and coffee (just about as long) not to mention all the sugar that is no longer being ingested because of the preop and post op diets. Could be withdrawal from all of that. Or the panic of going back to work on Wednesday or the "hugeness" of the surgery is finally hitting me, if that makes sense. Anyway, thank you all for being there for me... Sent from my iPad using VST
