Does Your Taste Change After Surgery?
happytohavethesleeve replied to Shubox's topic in Food and Nutrition
Oooh, I used to love sweet things. Not anymore. Can you believe I have two huge bags of potatoe chips in my pantry. Sour Cream and Onion and Ketchup as well as cheezies. And I think they are stale. Must toss them. I have no desire for them. They seem yuckie. Before I would have ate the whole bag one at a time. lol -

Big hug for you! We are all the same or we wouldn't be here. Try your very best. You can do it. If you make a mistake just pick up and forge on! This is the BEST decision that you will ever make for yourself. -
That Hair Should Be One My Head...not In The Drain
happytohavethesleeve commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weight
The best way I heard it explained was that you will notice but no one else will. You will see extra loss in the shower or when you brush it. Yes it is gross. I hated it. I am a year out now and the regrowth is about 4 inches long. I have long hair and if I look I can see the 4 inch pieces mixed within the long hair. Dont scare yourself to much. -
Buyer's Remorse- My Horrible Road To "recovery" Post Sleevectomy
happytohavethesleeve replied to jsd2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my heart goes out to you. I think the worst part is the not knowing exactly what the heck is going on. At least for me they knew what it was. I was the less than 1%! I had a twisted stricture. Unable to eat/drink anything from August 2011 to Dec 2011. Mashed potatoes and gravy Christmas Eve. Never tasted anything so good in my life. I have had it all. Feeding tube that was skillfully put through my noes and into my instestines and a feeding tube that went directly into my tummy. TPN. Stents. Stent removal from migration. Ouch. That is two operations right there. I think we were up to 8 endoscopies. At one point they couldnt sedate me for an endoscopy because my vitals were to low. I spent just over a month in a hotel and went to see the clinic during the day. I was very blessed to be under the best care in the world with the best doctors. I think of them so fondly. They finally did something pretty much unheard of. A strictureoplasty. They cut the stricture out and put both ends back together. They kept me over night and I had 24 hr nurse care. Oooh I love them so much they were kind to me. And they fixed me! I am so happy now. I LOVE my sleeve. And I know that while you are going through a hard time you think that you wont ever feel that way. It sounds like you are having a hard time to get good care. My heart goes out to you. We are very very rare. While I had my stay at the clinic I saw droves of people get the operation and then go home. No problems. Prayers for a speedy recovery. -
Not common at all. Trust me. I am one of the only people that I know that had one. Mine was also twisted. Went through hell. But it is fixed. I am happy. Would live through it again to have the sleeve... but not fun. Dont worry this wont happen to you. Almost unheard of. I dont know anyone who doesnt like there sleeve. Even if they had complications. Just my opinion.

Hi Libbe I am the lady that had huge complications at the same time as you. Mine was a twisted stricture. You look great! It sure is nice to be on the other side. I am at goal as well. I am sure you are enjoying your weight loss as It has made me feel so much better about myself.
