    One Week Post Op.

The first few days, these was some pain when drinking, but I think it was due to maybe esophagus still swole, and the feeling was different than any I had ever had, kinda like it started at my stomach and came up suddenly. No problem since then.
  5. Ok this is my first post, let me start by saying, thanks to everyone on here, for sharing the stories and the helpfull information. I sure did a lot of reading the month before my surgery, and this last week post op. Surgery was 9-11-12 was set up for 7 am, but something came up and I didn't,t go into surgery till around twelve. Was in surgery almost two hours, then to recovery for I really don,t know how long, but got into my room around 4 pm. I really just started waking up when I made it to my room, and boy was I nausea, I remember telling the nurse I need something for nausea right now, and she gave me something, was not but a few minutes and I was out sleeping again, woke up again around 7 same thing again just as bad, so they gave me some more nausea med, and pain med, out again. I woke up again around 10:30 and actually felt ok, just a little grouggy, for the rest of the night I only sleep in 45 minutes nap, due to having to pee so much, was nausea off and on through out night but not near as bad as right after recovery. I did take a short maybe five minute walk during the night also, around 8 am the doc had not showed up yet so I got dressed and went for a short walk around the nurse station again, some pain, nausea and gas, but not to bad. Got discharged around noon, again I felt ok not to bad, made the 45 mile ride home ok. Once I got home I went to having nausea really bad again and pain, I think the pain was mostly in the large incision area, I had liquid pain and nausea mess, I I just could not take them, could not stand to even smell them seem to make me sicker, I also had the nausea cream you rub on, i used it and it worked for about three hours, this went on through out the first night home, by morning time I was telling my wife I wish I had not did this surgery, I was also thinking about all the money I just paided to feel this horrible. I did get to feeling better through out the day, still pain and nausea, but not as bad, by late afternoon I was doning better maybe a 4 on a scale of 1-10. That night 9-13-12 was another rough night, not quit as bad as night before, I was sleeping in reclining char, just could not get in and out of bed, to much pain. Next day was better 9-14 nausea gone but still pain, especially getting in my chair and out of it, but I probably felt like a five that day. The next two days got better each day, I was walking all I could around the house. Today 9-17 I feel I am back to an 8 on a scale of 1-10, having no regrets now about the surgery. I have found the EAS protein shakes are the only ones I can tolerate, been eating a little chicken noodle broth, sugar free pudding, and drinking reduced G2 , no problems with anything wanting to come back up, seem to only be able to hold around 3 1/2 ounces, but in about three hours i go to feeling a little hunger again. I was 297 first doctor vist, surgery day I was 287 , not to bad I guess, today I am 276. At this point I highly recommend the surgery, I went into thinking I would be fine no problem, and I experienced a lot more pain and nausea than I had bargained for, the first three days. I hope this information is helpfull.
