The Stuff They Don't Tell You

I wish I was educated on the emotional stress you go through after surgery. I was very weepy and anxious partly becuase of the loss of my old eating habits, not being able to pick my children up , feeling selfish and a bit worthless becuase I couldn't take care of the family as I needed. It was alot to adjust to at first and 3 weeks later I've finally come to terms with my new life and embracing each and every pound with joy . As I said earlier I just wish I would have been prepared for the emotions!!!

Will I Ever Be Able To Eat Again?

I mean a meal like chicken and string beans or cucumbers , a ham sandwich or a salad
  3. My surgery was on August 14th I can eat anything my family eats just in smaller portions. I just had baked chicken stuffing and red potatoes. I had the amount that my three year old eats about an hour ago and I feel great. Yesterday I ate half of a crab cake with ease and even had some (3) pita chips with hummus and I felt full but no pain. I wonder if I should call my NUT and ask am I'm over doing it or should I continue as I feel great ?
  4. I couldn't consume 150 carbs right now if I wanted to . I mean you can only eat a few bites of anything. You guys had a point , I will admit I had a rough time getting dinner to settle , I had to run a mile literally to digest it. I'll be back on the protein shakes in the morning. Dang this first month is hard . I think I'll wait until week five to start eating solids again as I was told . Forgive me guys I'm a little hard headed
  5. I'm going to give my doc a call in the morning!
  6. DES1975 you comment hit home I will start sticking to the diet. No leaks for me and I have no time to be back in the hospital. I'm a little rebel, but it's not worth my health. Thanks for the sound advice!!
  7. I know I shouldn't but 4 of my friends are also sleeved and they started real food ealier than I and are all doing well , one of which has lost 90 pounds in 6 months I feel for my fellow sleevers that are starving
  8. I'm very mindful of carbs my NUT said I need at least 150 every day and I'm sure I'm there. As far as protein I'm getting in about 50-60 grams everyday. I need to do better with water it seems like I do better at work with the water becuase I'm sipping all day.
  9. No I'm a hard head I'm suppose to be on puréed at this point. I have been doing alot of soups and protein shakes but I wanted some nourishment some "real " food so I ate it and I feel great . I do alot of exercise 2 hours on the treadmill broken into two parts 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening and all is good and my scales are still going down grow 247 to 215.5 this morning

    Moody!

My NUT told me is due to not getting enough carbs. And honestly I was one of the most easy going mild mannered people prior to surgery. She (NUT) says it temporary and my GP put me on a anti- depressant to try to stabilize my moods. I have since decided to see a counselor becuase I want to be both physically and mentally healthy !

    Moody!

Yes ma'am I know what you're going through moods change like the hands on a clock. I'm going to see a counselor becuase if it continues I may not have a job or a family. Btw I was sleeved on August 14th
  18. I had been off for five days and the sitting and thinking about all the food I was missing was taking its toll. I went back to work today and it was very refreshing . It kept me occupied and stopped the constant thinking about the surgery! Today was the BESt day since the surgery
  19. I feel so great today! If you love your job go back ASAP would be my advice. Yesterday I was a wreck emotional and crying it was bad I just felt like what have you done . Today after working and walking the mall on my lunch I feel like I have a new lease on life . Glad to be back at work!!!
  20. Keep in mind I'm the nursing supervisor in a medical office so it's not alot of manual labor. If your job requires hard labor I would consider taking as much time as you need !

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

6 days post op and I'm back in the office . Let's see how it goes
  22. I meant you have a point ... Typo
  23. I am 5 days out from surgery and I have 3 children 7,5,and 3. I have always been very mild tempered with them I've never been big on yelling at them . They have been away for a week and came back yesterday and they are irritating me beyond belief. From my 3 year old asking if I'm a "kinny" mommy yet to the constant giggling from my daughter. My seven year old son is extremly mature and understands what is happen and is really doing well. I know I'm going through alot right now and I was wondering how other moms handled their child post-operativly? And my poor husband he says I'm Satan ....lol ! Any advice would be apperciated.
  24. @ jenrus u think you have a point and if it continues I will go see someone! Thanks for your honesty!!!
  25. I went in their rooms and explained everything to them . I hope they understand I took my three year old and put him in the bed with me and read his favorite book "I 'll love you forever" three times. His father came and got him and took him upstairs to his bed . When he came back down I cried in his arms for a few minutes and I feel better. I took so pain meds tonight becuase I'm a little more tender than usual and now in nauseated...great goodnight
