    Sleeve To Bypass

from what i've read, gastric bypass effects are temporary.. you have the malabsorption for the first 2 years & then it's back to normal..... then what? you just gotta eat right & exercise.

    Magic Bullet

my grandma gave me one. lol i love it i mix spices for my curries & stuff, grind coffee for my dad, make homemade whipped cream, make smoothies, beat eggs (not often, but sometimes), if i need a small amount of something, like an onion, to be blended for a recipe, then i use it for that.. beats cleaning the food processor or a whole blender just for that.. make my avocado chocolate pudding with it.. mix it up & eat it from the same container,. and can save the rest of it for later.. lol less dishes! it does great on bean dips, like hummus.. etc it's also really good for pain in the butt jobs like mixing corn starch with Water... xD

    Wontons Vs Bread

they're made out of flour, salt, egg & Water. they don't have any yeast in them, so they don't puff up.. not bread.. they are like Pasta, but can be fried, baked, steamed, boiled or whatever.

Had A Bad Week... Can't Stop Eating... :(

well.. i know everybody on this board is all about the Protein & are totally against carbs... but here's a truth that is glaring us all in the face... billions of asians and africans eat a high carbohydrate, low fat diet with very little meat (mainly used as a flavoring)... and billions of them are thin and fit.. high carb/low fat will make you lose weight, too.. so carbs aren't "bad"... i saw my highschool science teacher lose over 100 lb in 4 months eating high carb/low fat.. both high carb/low fat & high protein/low carb work... what doesn't work is combining carbs & fat... you can either have the carbs (fruit, vegetables, potatoes, grains, Pasta, etc) or you can have the fat (steak, hamburger, bacon, etc)... pick one & roll with it... can't have the carbs + the fat (mac & cheese, hamburger helper, cake, pie, Cookies, ice cream, candy, french fries, chips, etc).

    Question About Hunger

i'm pre-op, too & am here to learn about what goes on in regards to the sleeve & also help people when & if i can. there's just been a post about someone who constantly feels hungry... http://www.verticals...lly-am-i-alone/ << there you go. so it can happen.. that you are always hungry right after you eat. i've read several people on here that suffer from that.. not just the ones in that thread. :/ but a lot of times the hunger pangs are really acid reflux or gas.. so.. just depends on the person. it's one of those risks you have to think about. :/

    Smoothie King ?

if you're going to put fruit, yeah, fruit can be high in sugar.. but so what.. just be smart & pick a lower sugar fruit... lemon, lime, blueberry, raspberry.. pretty much any kinda berry is low in sugar.. even on an anti-candida diet, you can have berries & lemon or lime. also, apple is another good fruit that's got Fiber & is low in sugar. there ya go.

    Grocery List

i love almond milk. it has a lovely creamy, slightly almond taste & is delicious with anything.. i don't have a problem with soy products, but i'm not a big fan of soy milk, because it has a very beany aftertaste to it... rice milk has more of the consistency, look and taste of regular milk..almond milk has more protein in it & less carbs than rice milk, so i would go for the almond milk. coconut milk is very good and very tasty, but it tastes very much like coconut. lol so if you want to put it in chocolate drink mix.. it'll taste like chocolate & coconut... it wouldn't be a bad option, though. hemp milk would be another good one.. very high in protein.
  11. i love bostons & want one so bad! my grandma has one & he's the cutest little booger! of anti-acid one thing i've seen people mention that hasn't been addressed here is what if it's gas? can you take some gas-x & see if that helps? apparently gas can cause you to feel very hungry.. in any case, i hope you all get better!

    Salsa?

i would think you could have whatever brand you wanted.. but you'd probably need to blend it up, so it's smooth & not chunky. i'm looking forward to eating my sriracha!! WOOT! well i guess that's more hot sauce than salsa... but... >.> anyway...
  13. bakery work is exhausting... 4 days is insane... my mom's a bakery manager at a big chain store.. and it's crazy... she has to do so much work! anywho, sounds like you got it made in the shade fallingwhisper it is awesome that your boss is working with you & giving you an easier job for a few weeks. you should feel very lucky! not a lot of bosses are like that! one of my friends worked for a big burger chain & when he got told he had a leaking heart valve & couldn't do the heavy lifting & stuff anymore, he got canned.. they didn't wanna give him an easier job. :/ sounds like you'll just have to stick to your diet after surgery & resist temptation of all the tacos and whatnots. lol fear not, though! for the force is with you! lol (man, now i want a 7 layer burrito... good thing it's 3:40 am where i am lol)

    "dumping" Question

i live in oklahoma, near tulsa.. my uncle works at a place where they do a lot of bariatric surgery & he's always saying how much pain the patients are in & talking about all the bad stuff he sees. i never hear anything positive. (he may just be trying to scare me, though, by not mentioning anybody whose done well).. he's one of the guys that monitors people's hearts & makes sure there's no problems.. he doesn't live in or or work in tulsa, he works in a smaller city. maybe the doctors there don't have enough experience. i don't know what the deal is. my aunt (the above mentioned uncle's wife) is a nurse for a hospice center.. she travels around from house to house & sees people who are dying from various things (cancer, old age, heart problems, etc) & makes sure they're cleaned up and have everything they need & she talks with them & all that stuff.. helps them with whatever.. eating, bathing, doing household chores, etc.. she says that she sees bariatric patients pop up quite a bit.. people who have had lots of problems & complications. my other uncle lived next door to a lady who had bariatric surgery & she died from complications... i asked him what type she had, he said he didn't know (but i'm assuming it's an RNY, not a sleeve).. she was in poor health & was going to die anyway, but she died from complications to the surgery. my parents have been in bars and restaurants and stuff & talked with people who have had RNY & they say they're always throwing up and stuff... everybody is always pointing out the bad things, never the good ones.

    Whats On Your Bucket List?

LOL that was such a funny movie I'd love to look like Reese Witherspoon if I ever did the Bend & Snap... LOL
  17. if you download Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, you can install Ad Blocker.. Here are the links to both. Internet Explorer isn't that good of a browser. It's always slower than Firefox and Chrome.. It also doesn't ever (at least in my experience) block ads as well as either of the other two. When you switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox it asks you if you want to import your favorites & stuff, so you won't lose anything that you've saved. I think Chrome does the same thing. Mozilla Firefox: http://www.getfirefox.com/ << just click on the tab that says "desktop" & then click the green button that says "free download" Ad Block Plus for Firefox: https://addons.mozil...n/adblock-plus/ << once you've downloaded Firefox, click this link & click the green button to install the ad blocker. Google Chrome: https://www.google.c...chrome/browser/ Ad Block Plus for Chrome: https://chrome.googl...aibdccddilifddb I use both browsers, so they're both good. I usually use Firefox, though.. Hope this helps you & fixes your problem. I use both & have never seen an ad on this website. I didn't even know it had advertisements. lol If this doesn't solve your problem, then you may consider looking into the other things that COsleeveDude mentioned.. Starting with checking your computer for viruses, malware, adware & all that nasty stuff.

    Bad Breath.....

it happens when you eat low carbs. i agree with Rootman.. a tongue scraper can help a lot. also be sure to floss religiously. you could try sucking on some sugar free peppermints throughout the day.. getting some peppermint essential oil & putting a couple drops in some Water & swishing it around in your mouth.. you can also buy 3% food grade peroxide & spray it in your mouth (they have it in a spray bottle at 3% in whole foods or other natural health stores & also on amazon).. anyway.. the peroxide acts like bleach & kills the bacteria & stuff in your mouth.. you can spray it 2 or 3 times in your mouth & brush your teeth.. you don't want to go higher than 3% because it oxidizes everything.. you also don't want to use regular 99 cent peroxide because it has heavy metals in it.. but diluted down to 3% & food grade, it's actually pretty good for you & will also help keep your pearly whites, pearly and white. you may also try oil pulling.. get some sunflower, coconut or sesame oil-- around 1 tablespoon.. and swish it around in your mouth for 20 minutes in the morning when you wake up. it pulls the toxins out of your mouth & also helps your teeth & getting particles of food out of all the gaps in your teeth & stuff. it feels gross, but after a couple weeks of it, you'll be like "wow!" if you try it, be sure to spit it out in the toilet.. because it's filled with toxic stuff & germs & bacteria.. don't want that growing on your sink. lol then use the tongue scraper & the peroxide spray & brush your teeth.. then follow with the peppermint mouth wash. i don't use toothpaste, usually.. i use dr bronner's magic soap (also available at whole foods or health food stores & amazon). it's pure castile soap. peppermint is good to brush teeth with.. and if you use it all over your body, you feel cool & tingly, and it also helps neutralize body odor. here's a video of how to REALLY clean your mouth (naturally)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9vuGFUEX5g

    Questions To Ask?

lol.. when i go in for my consultation, i'm going to be like.. so tell me.... how many people have you and your anesthesiologist killed? should i run out & get a bunch of life insurance? can i meet the anesthesiologist before surgery? give me 3 reasons i should pick you... and most importantly... are you prepared to handle this much awesomeness? lol and then i will get serious.. everyone else has great questions. i'd be really concerned with their complication rates & how many surgeries they've done... because you want someone with lots of experience & few people with complications... i'd also ask if there were any former patients i could talk with & see what their experience was like with the surgeon.. did he do great follow up care & come see you, or just kick you out of the hospital like you were an unfaithful spouse?.. lol do they offer any kind of leak protection?.. what if you develop complications later on?... will the pain medicine & other medicine for potential problems (acid reflux or whatever) conflict with my current medications? how much do you think i could lose within 1 year? when can i start to exercise after surgery? what kind of pre-op diet requirements do you have, if any? how much weight do i need to lose, if any, to have my surgery? when can you sign me up? how often will i have to come back & see you after surgery & after i'm healed? can you give me a note or card that has your contact information & informs restaurants that i eat smaller portions & will allow me to eat off the kid's menu?... can you hook me up with a medical bracelet like diabetics have, so if i'm ever in unconscious or something happens to me, the health care providers know not to stick a tube down my throat & damage my sleeve?.. what kind of staples would you use to close my stomach? what if one of my incisions comes open when i'm at home?.. what kind of stuff can i eat when i come home from the hospital? etc..

    Laughing Cow Cheese

hungry girl has fettuccine alfredo made with that cheese. it's not how you would think. she uses "noodles" called shirataki noodles. they're made out of tofu & they don't swell up in your stomach. here's the recipe: http://www.hungry-gi...letters/raw/249 the shirataki noodles come in different varieties.. they have clear ones, for asian dishes.. as well as the ones made from tofu, which come in fettuccine, angel hair, spaghetti, macaroni, etc.. they're low carb, don't swell up when you eat them (they're packed in water) & they're low calorie & full of Protein. you could make chicken noodle Soup, with some chicken broth & slap the noodles in there.. you could make macaroni & cheese.. you could have some spaghetti with blended meat sauce.. you could have shirataki Pasta & pesto.. etc. more info on the noodles: http://lowcarbdiets....atakinoodle.htm here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxyigiovSgs in that, she added some cream cheese, but on the recipe it didn't list it... so up to you to add it or not. lol
  24. maybe they just think that you can lose it without the surgery.. they probably are not intending to be rude, but are also not taking your feelings into consideration...
