Has Losing Your Weight Affected Your Heart Rate?
nyxa replied to nyxa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that's awsome! thank you! i'm happy you're doing so well! -
wow they said you'd be an alcholic? why?? lol that doesn't make any sense to me! in regards to the bi-polar thing.. i don't see how it would look bad for you, since you're not diagnosed as being bi-polar. just because things are hereditary, doesn't mean that they are 100% going to affect you i also agree with Lissa, in that OCD is probably a good characteristic, since you'll probably be doing all the right things. :)in any ca in any case, i wish you luck and much success

thank you guys for your input!!! i'm very happy that it's possible! yep, i've seen forks over knives & also fat, sick & nearly dead. both are very good! sad thing is that i've been looking into that kinda stuff for years.. also looked at the gerson therapy & raw foods.. been trying to eat more raw vegetables & fruits.. but i don't stick to anything for very long, i mean, i have stuck to eating more fruit & vegetables.. but i don't really stick to "diets" for very long because i have no hope & just don't care about myself enough to stick with it. the reason i'm considering having surgery, is because it would force me to stick with something.. and i'm 100% guaranteed to lose weight (or die in the operating room)... i used to have more willpower than a chinese olympic athelete.. lol (that is not a dig on chinese people, just saying i had VERY strong willpower).. now i just don't care if i'm here or not.. i only stick around because i'm too chicken to off myself and am an only child & don't want to completely devastate my parents.. my doctor's also always up my butt about my weight.. anyway.. JenC, thank you for telling me about shakeology! that's pretty nifty! it really does make me happy to know that you can be a vegetarian or vegan after weight loss surgery.. i looked at the diet on the mayo clinic for post surgery & thought "wow, that's almost nothing but animal products.. i don't know if i could do that...." and of course, when you hear "low carb" the common stereotype is all meat & cheese & little vegetation... :/ but you can do low glycemic, low carb, low sodium, low sugar & be vegetarian/vegan. i just don't see a lot of that! but i'm excited now! woo hoo!

Has Losing Your Weight Affected Your Heart Rate?
nyxa replied to nyxa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
firstly, i'm sorry you're having trouble & i hope you get it sorted out! 50 is indeed pretty low! i haven't had the surgery yet. i just asked in the post op area, because i figured you folks would know more than the pre-op folks. in regards to your questions, i am on a beta blocker (to slow my heart rate) and hydrochlorothiazide (Water pill).. i'm on the lowest dosage of each. i used to drink a lot of soda, but i don't drink any anymore... i drink water or flavored water.. i try to stay away from ecoli poop (aspartame).. so i go with stevia sweetened stuff and MiO (or generic brands).. in regards to hormones, i have pcos... don't have any infections. you guys really put your thinking caps on, huh? i had no idea about all that stuff lol -
I Have A Feeling I'm Going To Be Difficult Lol
nyxa replied to Huntingnurse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
last time i was in the hospital, i was there for a 6 days/nights in the ICU & 1 day in the regular part... 5 days i was fine.. when i was asleep & they'd come in jabbing me with needles or wanting x-rays or i had to drink that nasty sulfer smelling stuff or for whatever it was that they needed, i would wake up & say "thank you" and go back to sleep & i was pretty pleasant & everyone thought i was very nice. lol by the 6th day i was like "i really miss my dog.... i wanna go home"... that night i was having a fit.. having anxiety attacks.. i couldn't sleep.. etc.. they had to give me shots to lower my blood pressure & whatnot.. the following day one of my labs came back & said i had staff infection (which they found out later that i really didn't, it was a contaminated sample).. so they were trying to find veins to pump me full of whatever that stuff is that gets rid of it.. but since they'd been taking blood from everywhere, all my veins were bad & they had to dig around to find one.. and then the vein popped & that stuff made my arm have a knot on it the size of a grapefruit (no lie.. a big one, not a small one) & i was freaking out & crying & was pretty much hysterical... i was really mean to the nurse (not meaning to be, but i was just sick of being there and having everyone wake me up for everything all week & i apologized profusely) and i was mean to the x-ray guy.. well, not directly.. but i was saying to my mom how i'm F'ing tired & just want to SLEEP & i'm 1/2 naked & he can just wait a darn minute & etc.. he laughed it off, but i still feel bad.. so i was exhausted and i really wanted to see my dog, who is a senior (he'll be 12 this year), because i was worried about him.. lol and it made me go from being a happy camper to a sour puss.. but i finally got out & i was SOOOOOOOO happy. in regards to a catheter.. lol pants would so not be fun with one of those. i had one & hated it.. wonder how long they make you wear one, because they really suck. :/ i have to say.. i am so thankful for nurses.. you really have to love people and care about them to do that work.. and it is tough work. on the same note.. being in the hospital was the most embarrassing thing i have ever gone through.. and some nurses have lost their touch... i'm a VERY modest person & i had nurses come in & fling my gown open (because i ripped off my monitoring stuff on accident) and even though i know they weren't trying to look at me, i felt very violated.. not to mention having people looking at my bare butt & cleaning areas that i don't want anyone to see.. lol it was absolutely humiliating in that regard.. but most of the nurses were very nice and i appreciated them very much.. i still feel very ashamed and embarrassed when i think about my stay in the hospital, though... totally humiliating experience. -
Too Depressed For Surgery... What?
nyxa replied to shellbell125's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sounds like me.. except i'm not on any meds (that deal with my mental health- am on a beta blocker to slow my heart rate & hydrochlorothiazide, though.).. when i read your story, i laughed because i am concidering weight loss surgery & if they denied you because of being depressed and passive dependant, then i'm screwed.. not because i thought it was funny.. or even remotely amusing.. i feel bad for you & i'm sincerely very sorry that you didn't pass. i hope you'll be able to figure out what's going on & fix it, so you can get your surgery. it sounds a bit like a catch 22, though... "i'm depressed because i'm fat.. but you won't allow me to get surgery to fix my problem.. so that just makes me more depressed & probably more fat!!!".... dumbest thing i've ever heard. :/ well maybe not EVER, but it's in the top 5, for sure. -
The Most Embarrassing Fat Moment....
nyxa replied to Sannah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
something similar happened to me.. i was hospitalized for liver failure (pharmaceutical error, not mine or the doctor's).. basically i was on percocet for a leg cramp that wouldn't go away.. and i almost died, because of acetaminophen poisoning.. which is the active ingredient in tylenol as well... anyway.. no one could figure out what was wrong with my leg, so they wanted to have an mri done.. i was 420 lb at the time & am EXTREMELY claustrophobic.. ended up freaking out before the (very rude guy) managed to squish me all the way into the machine... and boy was he trying... it was embarrassing, and the guy being rude didn't help matters, either... so i feel for you. :/ sorry you had to go through that. :/ -

Stuck In Hospital, Not Drinking Enough
nyxa replied to griega232's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL about the hamburgers & french fries.. xD that was so funny! and Lady J.. aww! bless your heart! lol i am not meaning to be rude, but.. did you guys dream of food like that, because you enjoy eating it so much? or miss eating it?.. or like.. was it subconscious, because you couldn't eat as much as you were used to or something like that?.. i'm probably around 450lb and i'm a pretty picky eater... i don't like most food.. i don't drink soda pop.. i just constantly graze, because i'm bored & i don't care about myself.. some days i am just too depressed to get out of bed & don't care if i eat or not, so i don't eat and will just get up to go to the bathroom & that's it... food doesn't excite me at all & i rarely eat anything that i find to be delicious... i don't particularly like sweets and i don't like the sound i make when i crunch on chips & things like that.. so i don't normally eat stuff like that.. if something's too greasy, i get acid reflux.. my family also doesn't keep a lot of snack foods around.. the closest thing to junk food i have is canned fruit that's been sitting on the shelf for over a year because no one wants to eat it.. and a bar of baker's chocolate, which has also been on the shelf for over a year. lol so i dunno.. maybe i would have food dreams.. just because i'm so used to eating all the time.. do you think it is the same for you ladies & gents?.. in any case, i hope you (griega) will get to feeling better ASAP & that you will heal wonderfully & flawlessly & fast! hope you will find something you like, so you can get those fluids into your body! -
Has Losing Your Weight Affected Your Heart Rate?
nyxa replied to nyxa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh, that is so sweet that you are concerned about that thank you for your suggestion! i don't think i have a leak, but i will ask my doctor about it. i was in the ICU for a week a couple years ago from liver failure (because of pharmaceutical error- not my or my doctor's fault).. so they did just about every test on me possible.. and i had x-rays and all sorts of stuff done every couple hours for a week.. from what all the doctors tell me, i'm just so fat that my heart can't keep up & it beats fast to pump the blood to my body parts... basically that my 1 heart is pumping enough blood for 2 or 3 people... and so it beats fast and i have high blood pressure. i am on a beta blocker & a Water pill to reduce my blood pressure & heart rate... i would like to get off this medication.. i hate taking drugs. :/ my doctor also reminds me every time i visit him (which isn't very often-- couple times a year, usually) that i have to lose my weight & he keeps telling me that everything is finite.. i'm wearing all my joints out and my health will deteriorate rapidly & i'll die.. etc.. and keeps telliing me about surgery.. so i'm just looking into it... i've sorta reached the point that i don't care anymore.. :/ about myself, i mean. so.. anyway. yeah. lol i will ask him about the leak, though. thanks for the suggestion. i wouldn't have even thought about that otherwise. -
20 Ways To Tighten Skin After Weight Loss
nyxa replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MSM also helps tighten loose skin. There's a guy on YouTube -- his channel is LovingRaw, if I remember correctly.. anyway.. he was 400+ lb & lost down to his goal weight with raw food & doesn't have any loose skin. he does skin brushing & eats MSM... so might want to check him out & look into those options as well. oh.. if you eat fruits and stuff high in collagen, that helps.. collagen is what give skin it's elacticity. one high collagen berry is the blueberry! don't forget to moisturize your skin! they have MSM lotion on Amazon. it has all sorts of healthy oils & stuff in it! and also don't forget that your skin is your biggest organ & whatever you put on it is absorbed into your bloodstream.. so be careful about what creams and stuff you use. -
thank you for your responses! i appreciate it very much! i was just curious if it was even possible.. that is/was a big deciding factor of even getting the surgery for me lol of course i'm not against anybody eating meat or whatever else that they like, i just am more attracted to the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. hemp is indeed a very good one. you can also eat almonds and stuff like that.. plus they have protein shakes and all kinds of other stuff. i just didn't know if the stomach could tolerate it after surgery or how all that works i'm a newbie to this.. so.. forgive my ignorance. lol that's why i'm here afterall! to learn! my doctor keeps telling me i'm a candidate for surgery & reminding me of my pending doom and demise if i don't lose my weight.. figured i'd join here & see what others are saying & see their experiences before i jump the gun & do something i'll regret later...

What Does Your Doc Reqire As Preop Diet
nyxa replied to earth2terra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you only need 60 grams of Protein per day to survive.. everything has protein in it- including vegetables and fruit. green leafy vegetables, like lettuce, spinach, cabbage & kale have the highest amounts of protein in them. ever thought of doing a green smoothie? -- 1 banana, 1 hand full of leafy reens of your choice (usually spinach), some Water, and some berries- fresh or frozen.. like strawberry, blueberry, etc.. or you could add something like mango or pineapple.. it's a good way to get in your leafy greens & make them taste good. lol you can sweeten it with stevia, agave nectar or honey or whatever you like to use.. a lot of people also add their protein powders and other supplements to the drink.. like maca root (it's a root vegetable, similar to a turnip, grown in south america, dried & then powdered).. they add MSM (which is good for lubricating your joints & also great for your skin).. etc.. also seen people throw in dulce (seaweed flakes-- high in Iron & other vitamins) you could add whatever you wanted.. i was just throwing ideas out there. if you want meal ideas... one of my favorites that i've been having lately is a salmon fillet, with the skin removed.. i season it with garlic/herb & seafood seasoning.. and fry it in olive oil (olive oil is good for you).. then make myself a mixed green salad with various kinds of lettuce.. so it's colorful.. then cutting up some other vegetables.. like zucchini or yellow squash, onion, tomato, cucumber, carrot, radish, celery, add some spinach & maybe i will chop up some kale or whatever.. swiss chard.. etc.. then when my salmon is done, i flake/crumble the fillet up & put it on top of my salad.. and either eat it with some vinegar & oil or light balsamic dressing.. pretty tasty!!! if the fish is seasoned enough, it doesn't even really need salad dressing... the fish is high in Omega 3's, too! you could bake the salmon, too, but i usually just fry it in olive oil.. like 1 Tablespoon. takes like 10 minutes to do everything, including prep & you have a meal that's high protein, low carb & high in omega 3's & all sorts of other Vitamins (like iron) from the vegetables. another favorite is a small steak or chicken breast & some steamed asparagus or green Beans & a small salad. -
what kind of stuff do they ask you? and how did you respond? lol
