Foods that make you poop...
JustSayMoe replied to MK1986's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Been there done that, got the t-shirt. I consumed a large amount of white sugar free chocolate one time. Then we went to mall that my wife and I had never been to before. Let's just say I had a maximum performance run to the bathroom. Luckily I made it just in time after running a long distance to get there. -
Foods that make you poop...
JustSayMoe replied to MK1986's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've only tried Stevia a few times both with the same opinion. It tasted like someone was trying to poison me! One of the products was Stevia in the raw. It had a rough metallic taste to it. I don't have an issue with aspartame or splenda in reasonable doses, but I would prefer something a little more natural. Agave is good, but it still packs carbs and calories. Are there any brands of stevia that doesn't have an aftertaste? Is the stuff from GNC better? -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Very nice! -
My max was around 430. My last diet got me down to 350. Then I gained 50 and got surgery. I'll be very happy to cross the 240 mark. It's the lowest weight of my adult life. I weighed more than 240 in high school.

Sounds like a winner to me. I'll have to try that. -
how long post-op before a tummy tuck?
JustSayMoe replied to bethnc1970's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I think most plastic surgeons would recommend being at or very near goal weight. -
If your a1c is too high?
JustSayMoe replied to karpouzian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Super high blood sugars day of surgery, maybe. High A1C, doubtful. The A1C is just an average for the last 3 months. If you hit the OR with a 400 blood sugar, there is a serious risk of ketoacidosis. You don't want to start at 400 and then have your surgery cause it to climb 600+. I saw a significant spike in blood sugar post op for a few weeks. -
Awesome! I crossed the line 2 or 3 weeks back. It's a major accomplishment. I'm going to have to get my wedding band resized pretty soon. It's becoming too loose.

This Will Knock Your Socks Off (Red Velvet Mousse)
JustSayMoe replied to JustSayMoe's topic in Purée (stage 2)
They also made some ice cream. It got mixed reviews, but everyone loved this. -
I had a slightly modified version of this recipe tonight at a local WLS support group. The differences were 2 scoops of Vanilla unjury and Fat Free/Sugar Free Cool Whip. They left out the cracker crumbs. You could also do unsweetened Almond Milk instead of the skim milk. It tastes good enough to serve to anyone. http://www.somethingswanky.com/red-velevet-cheesecake-pudding-mousse/

LOL! My wife laughs and says it looks like my butt crack goes all the way up to my neck when I sleep on my side. I felt around back there, and I'll be damned. It feels like I have one big, long crack!

Me too. I got taken out with propofol. No wonder Michael Jackson loved it so much. That stuff is awesome!

I can't say that I've had heartburn post-op. You might want to give your doctor a call if it continues to be an issue. They might be able to suggest a better antacid or write you out an RX for some really good stuff.

Checking in at 5am tomorow!
JustSayMoe replied to wordygirl74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have my prayers! The best advice I can give you is start walking as soon as you are stable enough on your feet. Try to burp (or pass it) that gas out as quickly as possible too. I was burping on the way to my room from recovery. -
I've seen nectar in the Vitamin shoppe. They don't carry all of the flavors though.

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
JustSayMoe replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you taking Pepcid AC or anything? My Dr. wants me to take Pepcid AC for the first year at least. I haven't had any heartburn at all. It cheap to pick up the generic at Costco. -

JustSayMoe replied to determinedesme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are probably hitting the absolute worst part of recovery right now. Get out and walk. It makes a world of difference. As far your stomach goes, it's probably very swollen and needs some time to heal. Try crystal light if Water is hard. Things will get better with everyday that passes. -

Good luck! -
The foaminess is one of the big downfalls of unjury or nectar. The solution is simple though. Stir, don't shake. Just the opposite of Agent 007 and his martinis . :-)

Good strength Training book - one of the best i have read
JustSayMoe replied to Fiddleman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
One of the PA's from my doctor's office recommended that. I see that there is a phone/tablet app out there as well. I may have to give it a try. -
Any Texas Gastric Sleeve Buddies?
JustSayMoe replied to w2ben's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats! -
I bought some New Orleans Style coffee concentrate from Whole Foods tonight. It's about 6 dollars for a liter of the stuff. It will make tons of coffee though. Then I whipped up a Protein shake with unjury Vanilla and Oh so good protein enhanced almond milk. 8 oz of Almond Milk 1 scoop of Unjury Mix it up and then add some ice. Put 4 oz of the coffee mix in there and shake it up. You will have an awesome iced coffee drink with less than 150 calories and 26 grams of protein. And almost no carbs!
-
My bad! The brand of the Almond Milk is So Delicious. Here's a photo of the ingredients (minus the Unjury) More details on the coffee can be found at www.nobrew.com
