Truthful Regrets, Anyone?
TennisGirl replied to Tiff187's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay - truth - I, like you, am just over two weeks out. I was very active pre-surgery and was in pretty good shape. I had also lost weight before surgery (about 40 pounds) and ended up weighing 223 the morning of surgery. I was pretty miserable the first few days after surgery and the two week liquid diet sucked and absolutely made me question whether I had made the right decision. Today, I went on one of my two daily walks and had to stop part way through because I suddenly wasn't feeling well. Again - I started to question this whole decision. So - I don't think your feelings are abnormal at all! All of this being said, I'm trying to just hang on and give my body time to finish healing. There are just too many ups and downs right now. I am supposed to start back to exercise at 6 weeks - so hopefully will be feeling better by then. For now - just try to push the negative thoughts away and hang on to the good ones! I will have to say the weight loss has been great so far, so that help! Good luck!! -
I understand your disappointment. I would bet anything it's water retention. Also, I've found that on days following intense exercise, that I gain also. It's almost like your body is holding on to the extra water and nutrients because you've been working so hard and it thinks it needs to keep some in reserve. Stick to your meal plan, and I bet in 3 - 5 days you'll see it all come off plus extra. Hang in there. There are threads about people gaining weight after periods of intense exercise if it makes you feel better!

Hey - I had surgery aug 13 also. Unfortunately I am on full liquids for another week. Yuk! Glad to hear you are doing well. Can't wait to go to my first weigh in next week!

Dana - don't be afraid to reach for the golden ring! I had surgery 8 days ago. Went to a support group mtg tonight and some people considering having surgery sat in on the meeting. They asked all of us if anyone regretted the decision to have surgery. There wasn't one person there that had any regrets and some were a couple of years out. Just take it a step at a time. You will never know what hobbies you might enjoy, like tennis, is you don't go for it. You may not like any sports, but oh how much better you will feel! Even if it's a day out shopping! -
Question: Why Is Caffeine Off Limits?
TennisGirl replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Caffeine is not kind to inflammation either. So if your sleeve is healing, caffeine can cause irritation and inflammation and thus prolong the healing process... -
Had Sleeve Tuesday. Omg The Pain
TennisGirl replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved Monday afternoon. I usually tolerate pain pretty well, but this was bad (had hiatal hernia repaired also). I had been trying to cut back on pain meds and that is definitely not the way to go. Talked to the surgeon today and he instructed me to keep upnw them every 4 hours. It is getting better very day though! Hang in there!
