Stall for TWO weeks?
Susie in Lima replied to reno1128's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ditto! -
Well mine was noticable because I already had thinning baby fine hair. I had my vsg done a year ago and I started losing hair at about 5 months and although the falling out stopped, it is still really thin. I just went to the dr and he gave me a spray to help regrow hair, I also take Biotin every day, and use Garnier Fall Fight shampoo every day. I am thinking that it has helped. I also went to the dr today and they took some blood and put it through a machine and took out the platelets (I think or plasma or something) and then they injected it into my scalp all over, it was about 100 injections. I am hoping that this will stimulate growth. BUT, even though I have lost hair, had to cut it short and have a few very thin parts, I would not have done anything different. I have lost over 100 pounds and can run a 5k. People call me tiny, slim, slender and skinny. I have lots more confidence and have proven to myself that I am worth working on my health. Heres hoping all those injections today work. Hurt less than I thought but more than I would have liked for it to. haha

Hmm, I am not sure. I would maybe do a sinus wash with one of those nasal pots and saline solution, they always help me. Hope you feel better soon! Being sick stinks! -
BonBon You just made me crack up! My dr said as soon as I felt like it, I could! Enjoy the journey with your spouse! My husband did not have the surgery but he did get on board and he has lost 60 pounds right along side me. It helps to have someone to do it with!

I know that it seems to be taking a long time but before you know it you will turn around and it will be done and your new journey will be well on its way! Just take a deep breath and realize that although it seems to take forever that it is just a little bump in the road. (I remember being frustrated too! My insurance took FOREVER, literally, I had given up and really forgotten that they were even looking at my case! I will tell you though, the wait is worth it!!!! Hope you get answers soon and appointments quickly! -

the 2nd worst day of my life (trigger)
Susie in Lima replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
So sorry for your loss. I have no idea what you are going through but I do understand emotional eating (well I dont "understand" it but I do understand doing it) Anyway, I am an emotional eater too but I have found that when I turn to food now, it just makes me feel worse emotionally. I think because I KNOW what I am supposed to be doing and I KNOW that food is not the answer. Now, Like I said before, I have never been in your shoes. Try to find something to take your mind to another place, I am home alot because my husband travels and my kids are grown and I get really lonely. I have tried to read, walk, exercise, call a friend etc. And because I am an emotional eater, I make sure that I dont keep anything in the house that is easy to eat that is bad for me. If I have to exert effort to go somewhere, or if I have to mess up the kitchen to make something, it gives me extra time to talk myself out of doing it and figuring out that even if I eat it, it wont solve what ails me. Anyway, I am so so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you! -

Prune Juice - thoughts? TMI WARNING/Constipation
Susie in Lima replied to MissErika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry you are having constipation issues. I haven't had any issues with Constipation until last month and it was horrible! I am so so sorry that you are! I would ask my nut if I were you and see if it is a problem. I think that it seems that the benefits outweigh the negatives that it may cause. But, thats just me! Hope it all works out for you. Have a good day! -
No idea, but do keep us updated. Hope you feel better soon. Glad you are going to see the dr. If nothing else, it will relieve your mind to know what the cause is.
-
Well I had the same issue about a month ago (I am now a year out) I had traveled to Brazil and had eaten more beef than before. I started hurting and cramping etc and I finally figured out that I was constipated (I hadnt been the whole year!!!) So maybe that could be it. I also have had problems with dairy as well causing gas. You might want to try some lactaid before you eat dairy. That is what my dr said to try. Hope you feel better soon!

Post op day 1 question
Susie in Lima replied to slvrwng's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, it is very normal. It wont last forever though. (Although every once in a while my tummy (her name is Dolores) still talks to me. Just try to sip really slowly and eventually it will all be fine. Hope you feel better soon! -
How far out are you? You might want to consult with your surgeon or nutritionist. Make sure you chew chew chew and take it slow. There were some things that my nutritionist had me stay away from for a while. If something bothers you, then cut that out for a while. For some reason, I now have an egg intolerance. Anyway, just take it really really slow, eat your protein first and then eat other things. Have a great day!

Time to start nesting! Help!
Susie in Lima replied to readyforchange101013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on the surgery date. I know you are excited. I would ask the Dr what prescriptions that you will need to take after surgery and have plans to have someone pick them up for you on the way home or even have them at the house before you get home. I would also ask what the surgeon wants you to eat/drink for the few days after the surgery and make sure you are stocked up or that you have the Soups etc ready to heat up when you need it, you will not want to have to go to the store for a few days. I would make a list of things to bring to the hospital. Dont bring too much, you wont need a lot. (I always have to have my makeup and hair done so I of course brought that) A loose fitting dress or pants that wont be tight so it wont hurt your incisions. Also, I brought with me some GasX strips which helped alot with the gas pain and some Biotene dry mouth spray, it really helps when you cant drink much. Hope this helps! Have a super surgery! -
The pain was not bad for me. The worst was the gas that gets trapped and caused pain in my back. I had my gall bladder taken out a few years ago and it wasnt a bad surgery with minimal pain and the VSG was alot easier. Just plan to walk a lot to help get the gas to pass through. It really will help! Also if you have some GasX strips they help alot as well. You will do fine. Of course there is some pain but really, for as drastic as this surgery is, it isnt bad at all! You can do it!
