Looking For A Thanksgiving Day Protein Shake Recipe!suggestions?
Susie in Lima replied to Sannah's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
Hey everyone, If you haven't received the booklet and want it, please inbox me or quote this message so I will get notice and will know who to send it to. Hope everyone is doing well on their new journey. His Susie -
I take a chewable biotin and there is also a liquid as well. The liquid is really expensive but the chewable is very affordable. I live in Lima, Peru and just emailed my nutritionist about hair loss this morning. She suggested that I go to a plastic surgeon in the area who takes blood and separates the plasma from the blood and then injects the plasma in the head. She swears by the procedure. It is 200 soles for a session which is about $80 and you are supposed to go once a month. I am not sure what I will do. She said that her hair is full and growing so much faster than before. If I do it, I will let you guys know! Anyone else had this done or heard of it before?

Six Days Post-Op, And I Am Hungry!
Susie in Lima replied to timetobefree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I think it is more common than you think. During the liquids phase, I was hungry too but the good news is, once this phase is over and you are able to eat solid foods, you will feel more satisfied although even that takes a little time. Also, are you taking anything for stomach acid? Sometimes the acid mimics hunger and also supposidly thirst mimics hunger. I also still have to watch myself now when I think I feel hungry to make sure it isnt just my head hunger talking. It should get better!!!! Just stick with what you are doing, sip on something when you feel hungry and before you know it you will be eating solid foods! Good luck -
I was at 5 weeks out. Today I am 2 months and 2 days out and went to see my NUT and was cleared to eat more solid foods including rice and pasta. She is very strict on my diet and how I eat it, but I am eating all kinds of things. It seems like it takes forever while you are on liquids but before you know it, you will be eating solids for a very long time!

It really wasn't as bad as I expected. I really had no pain from my incisions or anything. The only problem was with the gas. Just make sure you walk, walk, walk. This will help pass the gas quicker. Also if you can get some of the GasX strips, these really helped. I dont regret having this done at all. I had my surgery 2 months ago today and still have times where I am surprised that I did it! Hope your experience is a good one!

Can You Eat Red Meat?
Susie in Lima replied to mrs sandy r's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost at 2 months and was cleared to eat red meat. I actually went out to a restaurant had a delicious steak last Sunday that lasted me for almost 4 meals. It was very very tender and moist and I had to cut it into very thin and small pieces (about the size of my fingernail) but I had no issues with it whatsoever and it was literally the best thing that I have eaten since my surgery. -
Hey all! Almost 2 months post op and I am feeling great, loosing weight slowly but surely and things are going good. BUT, I tend to have waves of fatigue that hits me that is becoming bothersome. Not sure if it is Vitamin deficiency related or not. It used to be more so at night time but I just got hit with one this morning. Usually I would go take a hot bath to help alleviate the symptoms but I cant do that right now so I guess I will pop some tylenol and see if that helps. Anyone else experiencing this? Other than that, things are great!

My Achey Breaky.....
Susie in Lima replied to Susie in Lima's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the response. I do need to focus more on my water I know that in my head, but as I sit here this morning I can honestly say I have only had one sip of water to take my meds with. I am still just trying to figure out the 30 minutes before and after and then I just truly forget. Gotta get a method of reminding myself to drink more often. I am so excited about beginning to exercise. My dr must be really cautious because I was only granted permission last week to begin exercise and only 5 minutes a day!!!! I was a bit frustrated, but I am doing my best to follow his instructions as closely as possible. I am just soooo ready!!! Thanks again! Ready to get going and leave this fatigue behind! -
What Happens If....?
Susie in Lima replied to nursedel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey nursedel, I am not sure how things will turn out for your surgery because all drs are different. My dr had me on a liquid diet for a week before to shrink my liver. Some go through a whole month of a pre-op diet but I have heard of others who do not have any type of pre-op diet other than to fast the day before. I would go in today to your surgeon and be completely honest with him and tell him that you strayed away from your diet and that way he can be completely informed. Thinking of you today and hoping that things go well today. -
