    Lent & protein

You could eat seafood! It has lots of protein!
  2. Hey there! I am 5 months out and can honestly say that I have not really experienced any major mood swings. I think I went into surgery well informed and when I did begin to freak out a little before or after my surgery, I wasn't afraid to call or email my Surgeon, Family Dr or my nutritionist. I have lots of people that I can talk to about my struggles and victories, some have had this surgery, some have not, some have had problems with their weight, some have not. I went in knowing that I will have times during my journey where the scale will stop moving and that during that time that I just need to be patient and not freak out because it will come. I also started looking at the reasons for my overeating and trying to come up with a plan to deal with it since I am an emotional eater. Now it isnt easy all the time but I feel like I was as prepared as I could possibly be and I am doing my best to take care of my sleeve and help it help me. Realizing that sweets and breads were never my friends although I loved them. Actually I think my mood has improved with my better health, with wonderful comments from everyone and just with a whole lot less to carry around. Hope things go well for you! Keep us informed

    7 week update

Yeah! Great job! Keep setting those goals, it really makes the day to day losing mean a lot more and it makes the task not seem so daunting! My ring is now WAY to big for me and I have to get it sized once I get to my goal weight. Doesnt it feel great?!

    10 days after surgery

Sorry fellow VSGers! This is the worst it gets really. It wont be long until you can add some more things to your diet. Switch up the flavors of your waters using mio or crystal light. Wish I could give you more help but just know that this will soon just be a memory!!!!!! And things are about to get easier.

    Ambien the night before?

I didnt take anything but you are right, the night before was pretty restless. My main problem was that I was worried that I would oversleep and miss my early appointment. Good luck on your surgery! Keep us updated.

    Pain....

I always tend to think of gall bladder first because lots of VSG people have had to have their gall bladder out after surgery. If it doesnt get better, call the dr. Hope you feel better soon!

    I hate to eat!

No Foxy, My stomach has never really hurt unless I eat too fast or too big of a bite. Have you talked to your surgeon or your NUT yet? I know you dont want to eat, but you must get enough calories to survive (and to lose weight) I know that eating sure isnt as much fun as it used to be for me anymore which is fine by me, I am just eating to survive now, Hope you feel better soon! Let us know.
  10. I am 5 months out and just recently switched from taking the gummy vitamins to a regular womans centrum multivitamin HORSE Pill. The doctor says it is fine and I seem to do ok with it. I have to be careful to make sure that I have a little food on my stomach before I take it. I also take calcium (also a horse pill) B-12 sublingual, Biotin chewables and Vitamin D capsules. Hope this helps.
  11. Hmm, well are you exercising and eating solids yet? If not, then I would be asking lots of questions about those things.

    New and frustrated

I know how you feel about having to wait. My employer took 8 months to approve me then my insurance took about 2 months. All in all, it was almost a year from beginning to being sleeved. It was frustrating at times but it was worth the time and effort. The best thing I could have done for myself. good luck to you, I hope the time flies by quickly for you and that the insurance is in your favor.

    Got my surgery date!

You will be surprised to see how quickly the time actually does go by. (Of course sometimes it might seem to last forever but in general it will go by quickly) Today is my 5 month anniversary for my sleeve and I can not believe how fast it went nor how different my body looks. Take pics of you now and along the way. I have taken them on each month anniversary as well as measurements. It helps to keep you motivated! Keep us informed on how you do!

    Im approved!

I think that being nervous is only natural. I posted a very similar post about 6 months ago. Today marks my 5 month anniversary of being sleeved and I have to tell you that it is the best thing I could have ever done! It is difficult at times, but so was being overweight, so was trying to diet and getting discouraged, now I have this new tool that helps to ensure my success. Make up your mind that you will use this tool properly and appreciate it and take care of it. You are going to do great! Congratulations on getting approved. I know that it will be wonderful having your sister along for the journey! Blessings to you both!

    How can I do this?

You CAN do this!!!! It is only a very short time period. It will be hard but it is sooooo worth it! Just keep reminding yourself that this is temporary and that soon it will be a memory! YOU CAN DO IT! When you think about cheating or giving up, just do something else to keep your mind off of it. YOU CAN DO IT!

    fruit craving help please

I was cleared several months ago to eat pretty much any fruit and I am 5 months out. I would think that you should be fine but it is best to see what your NUT says and follow their plan. I am a fruit-a-holic now! LOVE IT! Hope you can get some soon!
  22. My son and husband have just gotten into it. I really havent tried yet although it is going on as I type. Silly me, I thought that from the name of it, that it was a western. No idea why. haha DEFINATELY NOT a western.

    post-op sleeve, post-op gallbladder

I would wait for several weeks before exercise and would stay away from alcohol too. Maybe you could call the surgeons office tomorrow morning and ask for some better instructions. You have the right to be informed. Hope you feel better soon! Once I had my gall bladder out, I felt SOOOO much better.

    BBQ Sauce?

My husband actually just bought me an electric smoker (I cant use a regular one because we live in a high rise apartment in a major city) Anyway, it is AMAZING!!!! The meat has a fantastic flavor and really doesnt need any bbq sauce although I love it! Just got it in January and have already used it about 5 times!
