What has your doctor told you to eat/or what not to eat over the next year?
BLSC replied to Johanna1955's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that does seem awfully restrictive! Like others here, my goal with surgery was to learn to eat normally, not to be on another crazy restricted diet. I am 5 months out, have lost sixty four pounds and eat right around 1200 calories a day very comfortably. Honestly, I can't imagine cutting what I eat now in half and not feeling terribly deprived. To keep that up for a year is quite a challenge, my very best to you in your recovery from surgery and the diet your doctor has recommended for you. -
I am four and a half months out and down 56. I had hoped for a more rapid weight loss initially, but now I'm happy with things the way they are. I use My Fitness Pal to track my food and nutrition, but haven't deprived myself of anything really. All things in moderation, as it should be The last thing I wanted was to be overly focused on yet another restrictive, difficult diet. Instead I treated my sleeve as a tool to help me lose weight while still enjoying all kinds of food in appropriate quantities. I eat between 900-1100 calories a day on average and can't imagine how the 600 calorie people manage. I have hit a few stalls along the way, but they always end and weight loss resumes. I'm 50 and female so I see my progress as a tremendous success. Best to all!!

Not All Sleevers Eat 500 Cals A Day For The Rest Of Their Lives!
BLSC replied to FishingNurse's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
LOVED YOUR STORY!! I am nine weeks out and down 37, eating between 800-900 a day most days. 500 just doesn't seem doable to me, not if I want to get balanced nutrition AND enjoy life. I am 50 so for me to lose that much is phenomenal! No possibility I could have done it without my sleeve. I look at this as a period to adjust to a new, long lasting, healthy lifestyle, not another deprivation diet. I know everyone has to find the path that works for them, but it's great to see someone on a path so similar to mine who has been so successful. You go girl! -
My Suggestion-Stop The Obsessing. Rules Are Meant To Be Broken
BLSC replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Loved your post Neil. People need to keep in mind the SPIRIT behind it, not read it as a directive that Doctor's orders are to be ignored. P.S. You lost 10 years in addition to those pounds -
My Fellow 9/4 (Or Last Week) Sleevers - How Are You Doing ?
BLSC replied to Odee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello fellow 9/4 sleeve sisters. I have lost 17 since surgery, a total of 25 including the week of pre op. Feeling good, no complaints other than I wish I could be one of those 15 lbs in a week people. I have been a yoyo dieter all my life, and never even during the craziest made up diets of my youth did I ever lose close to 15 in a week. Pretty happy with my 25 off though -
My Fellow 9/4 (Or Last Week) Sleevers - How Are You Doing ?

I am also doing well. On the "full" liquids for two weeks, can't move on soon enough though because I am kinda over Greek yogurt right about now Feel pretty good, even better when the staples come out I'm sure. -
I'm disappointed in my weight loss so far too, although it's only been a week. I have followed the program and only lost 4 lbs. Ordinarily that would seem like a lot, but given how little food I've had, I expected more. Plus if the early post op is when weight drops the quickest, not so great. My biggest fear was that I'd be a slow loser and maybe that's the way it's going to be Nice to have support though and others who can commiserate.

12 Day Clear Liquid Diet - Anyone Else On This?
BLSC replied to MyJourney2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found out yesterday that my surgery is scheduled for 9/4/12 I started the liquid diet today, but it's not clear liquids only and also allows for yogurt, sugar free pudding, low fat cream soups and protein shakes. I envy your cottage cheese and string cheese. I am hungry too, so grateful it's only 10 days of this. To avoid cheating, I am mindful that the smaller liver will make for an easier surgery. I wish you the best and I feel your pain
