    Any One Is San Diego?

I'm doing well! No complications thus far, and minimal pain. I was in the hospital two nights, mainly because I had nausea (but no vomiting, thankfully!) the first two days. I'm feeling much better now--just somewhat tired. Please feel free to message me with any questions or just to say hi. =) Mandy

    Any One Is San Diego?

Good luck with your surgery, Carly! Where will you be having it done? I was sleeved last week at UCSD.
  3. I am really curious about this also. I had my one-week follow-up yesterday and forgot to ask my doctor! I'll add it to my list of questions for him, but would love to hear the advice of fellow sleevers.
  4. So, I am into my 3rd week on my pre-op liquid diet. I have done really well so far, with no real cravings or hunger pains. Even if people are eating yummy things in front of me, I haven't felt deprived. However, today is a whole new story. I feel like a switch has been flipped! I have been craving REAL food (you know, the kind you can chew?) all day. I don't really consider myself an emotional eater, but I do think my emotions are making this harder than it needs to be! Today was my last day at my current job. As part of my going away present, everyone brought in all kinds of delicious Breakfast foods. (Only two of my co-workers know that I will be having surgery on Tuesday.) They all got to enjoy the food at my goodbye party while I felt self-conscious about not eating any of it! Ever since this morning, I have been craving eggs, bagels, bread, salt, etc. I think being around food, having a hard time with goodbyes, and feeling the reality of my surgery sink in are all contributing to my current obsession with food. I know this feeling won't last, and I'm keeping my eye on my upcoming surgery date and my health-related goals, but do these feelings become easier to manage over time? I can't stop thinking about eating (she says glumly while sipping on a Protein shake).

    Tall Sleevers? 6'?

I'm so glad to see other tall women on this board! I am 6'4" and currently about 320 lbs. I've lost about 55 lbs. since March and will be sleeved on September 4! It is exciting to hear success stories from tall ladies. My perspective often gets skewed when reading about the weight goals of more petite women. =) Looking forward to hearing more from you all as we go through this journey together! All the best, Mandy
  6. Good to hear! Thanks for your reassurance!

I'm Sleeved And So, So Happy!

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your experience!! It's reassuring to hear that you felt calm and prepared for the surgery. I'm glad they figured out how to help with the nausea. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

    Doctoring Up Low-Sodium Chicken Broth

I'll have to try that! It sounds yummy.
  12. Thank you both for your replies. Do the procedures hurt? I imagine having a tube down your throat while awake isn't too comfortable! I hope I don't throw up on anyone! =)
  13. Not sleeved yet! My surgery is scheduled for 9/4. Usually people's comments don't bother me too much, but I think I was feeling more sensitive than usual yesterday. Thanks for your support and encouragement!!
  14. Yesterday at work I heard one of my patients (who forgot my name) describing me as the "really tall, really fat one" to my colleague. Ugh!
