Heightened Senses
thedogsmommy replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure noticed that too at first. Not so much now. -
The Lap band is not as reliable as it was originally thought to be. The re operation rate is high and ALOT of people are going with revisions mostly to the sleeve. That's what I did. I don't mean to talk bad about the band but it's not what it is cracked up to be. The sleeve is nothing to be afraid of, the hospital stay is only 2 days.It is so much more natural feeling when eating than the band was. The recovery for me was the same with the sleeve as the band was. your anatomy does get changed but it is nothing to be afraid of. My doc recommended the sleeve over the bypass for me because of having the band previously. I would have rather had the bypass but Oh well it is what it is and I am thankful for the sleeve. If I was now researching between the band and sleeve the reoperation rate is ALOT higher with the band.Good luck, it will all work out for you I am sure.

Noodles always have eggs in them unless you buy no yolk noodles but there are only 10 calories less in them. So pretty much a noodle is a noodle is a noodle. Here is a list of other types of noodles. http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/food/noodles

So Upset With Myself
thedogsmommy replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think one bowl of cookie crisp cereal is horrible. Man oh man I found out what a major dumping episode feels like the other day. That will take the fun out of misbehaving. -
I have a favorite restaurant in the town my sister lives in and every time I visit her we always eat there. Well after having the surgery I went to see her and I kept feeling like I was supposed to be eating spaghetti, I actually got emotional and teary eyed. It was quite a revelation for me.

If you get an ulcer in that small stomach from smoking you will be awful sorry. I hear it is extremely PAINFUL. My dr. would not do surgery until I quit and proved it by taking a urine test 2 weeks after I quit and another 2 weeks before surgery. I quit after smoking solid for the past 32 years. I am so thankful he made me quit. please try , it can be done.

My doctor would not schedule my surgery until I quit. And 2 weeks after I quit I had to take test at lab to prove it then 2 Wells before surgery i had to take test again. I am so glad i quit. They say the chance of ulcers is great and that's awful on the sleeve.

I Cannot Get Myself To Drink Protien Anymore, Is This Harmful... 6 Weeks Out
thedogsmommy replied to Trici's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't stand them and do ot drink them. I can't bring myself to drink something that makes me puke and gag. -
I had mine on Aug 28th. Was so excited thought the day would never come. I had a rough few days when I came home but once over the hump it's better each day. I love the sleeve. I have lost 11 pounds in 9 days plus the 15 pounds they added to me with iv fluids. What I keep thinking about the sleeve it feels very natural compared to the lap band I used to have.

Sounds like trapped surgical gas moving around from pumping up the belly from last surgery you had. When you worked out today you probably freed it up from where it was hiding.Mine is in my chest and shoulder. During a laparoscopic surgery, CO2 is used to fill the abdomen and lift it away from the internal organs, giving the surgeon a better view for the procedure. Even though the CO2 is removed following surgery, the gas can become trapped against the diaphragm, causing pain and discomfort that can then radiate into the shoulder because of pressure on the phrenic nerve. Heat and pain medications often bring relief. Try using two heating pads--one on the front and one on the back of the affected shoulder. If you are not taking medication for pain, ask your doctor which one might work best to alleviate your gas related pain. Also for the shoulder pain, some hospitals recommend lying on your side and bringing your knees up to your chest. Hold this position for 5 to 15 minutes. As this can be difficult post hysterectomy, check with your doctor first. Lying on your back with your hips elevated on several pillows may also help. To help dissipate the gas, consider peppermint tea, ginger ale, or carrot juice. Some doctors recommend drinking warm liquids. Carbonated drinks should be avoided for a few days.

Changed To Vsg (From Lap-Band) 45 Min. Before Surgery!
thedogsmommy commented on slojo's blog entry in slojo's Blog
I had a lap band since 2003 and had it removed 2 months ago to have the sleeve surgery. Don't miss the band at all. I think you made a wise choice.
