September Was Your Progress?
MCM replied to jentheyo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HW: 238 SW: 216 Today I hit my goal that I set at my first appointment with the surgeon, in December 2012. My doc thinks I should have a goal of 135, but I kind of like where I am now. I'm really kind of excited about it. I am so grateful for this sleeve! -
7 months post op's..... Need experience sharing ? Urgent?!
MCM replied to Teddy bear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking an acid reducer? Sometimes our bodies interpret excess acid as hunger. Also, sometimes being thirsty is also interpreted as hunger. I've had some success with making myself drink water when I start feeling hungry, and then setting a timer for 45 minutes after I drink, before I eat again. Trying to train myself to be alright with being hungry, because sometimes it does come back after the sleeve. But hang in there, and remember all you've been through to get where you are now! -
any Sept. 2012 surgery people wanna share ?

Surgery was 9-7. Down 20 pounds before surgery and 50 pounds since. My hair is everywhere. I've been taking Biotin since before surgery, and using biotin shampoo and conditioner, but it doesn't seem to have helped yet. I'm confident that it will grow back at some point! -
September 12 sleevers lastest updates!
MCM replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 9/7 and lost 20 lbs before surgery and 50 since. Every day I learn something new about having the sleeve and my reactions to it. For instance, I didn't know until today that acid reflux can be interpreted by the body as hunger. And just last week I found that my sugar cravings might be made worse because I'm really thirsty instead. I'm more than halfway to goal, and I know that the hard work is still ahead but I'm so excited to be on this journey. Very grateful for this forum and all the other support! -
Such a great thread. I love how positive you all are! Thank you for posting!

September Was Your Progress?

How was Christmas? Did anyone else have trouble staying away from the sweets? I have found that on vacation I'm not keeping track of my protein the way I should. Back on track today. -

My surgery date was 9-7-12. I lost 20 pounds before surgery and 42 since. I try not to weigh myself too often because I find the stalls very discouraging. I'm exercising some, but not nearly enough. -

I was sleeved 9/7. Lost 20 pounds before surgery, 36 pounds since. Some days are definitely harder than others. -
Hi Kelly. I just came back from my 2 week post op visit (I was sleeved on Sept. 7) and I can tell you right now that I feel so sure that this is the best thing I've ever done for myself. It's understandable that you're freaking out, but trust me, you are going to be so glad you're doing this. So all the confusion about the liquid diet and everything else is not going to matter in just a few days. It's all going to be fine, try not to worry.

Ready, we are all praying for you and are glad you are getting the help you need. Good luck and thanks for keeping us posted.

That's great that you're getting in so much water. Don't worry so much about the protein just yet, you're only a few days out. You'll get there soon.

Went to my 1 week post op today! I've lost about 6 pounds and have been cleared for the full liquid diet! I also had to drive myself there so I guess I'm cleared to drive. Still trying to take it easy and not overdo. Easier said than done. Congrats to all the September Sleevers!

What a freakin roller coaster. I s sure hope that nobody else has the issues that I had been almost a week and I'm still in the hospital doing a little better but has had a lot problems I hope nobody has to go through the stuff that I went through good luck in all your surgeries everybody's different I just hope yours was a lot easier than mine. Oh no! Ryebecca20 I hope it gets easier. Did they give you any idea of what was going on?

I was sleeved on the morning of the 7th and my worst fears were unfounded. Got home from the hospital at around 3 today, and it's no picnic, but not as bad as I imagined it would be. For those of you going later this month, try to remember the Biotene spray for your dry mouth, and the Gas-EX strips for the gas. They really do make a difference. We don't own a scale, so I have to wait until my Dr. appointment on Thursday to find out if I lost anything yet. Best of luck to the rest of the September Sleevers. Much love, MC

This thread is getting big, but as our September dates approach it is good that we can be there for each other. My surgery is Friday, less than a week to go! Last night I made a huge roast beef dinner for the family who are all up for the weekend. I made myself some cream of mushroom soup. While I was cooking I was afraid that I'd sit there and feel so deprived while everyone else was eating, but instead I found myself thinking, "I'll get used to this. I have a tool now that's going to help me get my life under control," and I just felt so grateful!

My pre op diet is the full liquid that we do after surgery. Protein shakes and soups. I am allowed to blend up fruit in my protein shakes before surgery, which helps a lot. They didn't even say how much or how many calories I should have, so I'm trying to keep it under 1000. This weekend three of my grown daughters are going to be here for our 32nd anniversary, and also celebrating oldest daughter's birthday. This will really be a test of my ability to resist stress eating!

Survived the first day of my 10 day liquid diet. Surgery on September 7. Glad to have found this forum to connect with others going through the same thing at the same time!

Pre Op Diet Ticking Me Off.
MCM replied to Mrtiger1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having my surgery on September 7 and started my pre-op diet today. I've only told my husband and my children, but no one in my extended family and none of my friends knows. I'm glad to have found this web site. Every time I read through I feel better about the future and knowing I'm not alone. -
I'm getting sleeved on September 7. Yes I'm getting a little nervous, but excited as well. Glad to have found this forum. Good luck to us all!
