  1. I need some advice here please!! I am 7 months out and I have lost 81 pounds. This I am happy about however the past few months I lose very little. Some weeks a pound or two and other weeks nothing at all. I go to the gym 4 days a week like clockwork and burn about 300 calories or more each time I go. I am eating between 900-1200 calories a day. I have a lot of protein also. Average is about 100 grams a day. I just don't get why I hardly lose weight the past few months. The past month I have lost 4 pounds. Can anyone please give me some pointers or advice on what I may be doing wrong? Am I not eating enough?
  2. Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I know it isn't that I am having too many calories. According to my Doctor and the NUT I should be eating between 900-1200 calories daily. I actually was eating about 700-800 and a few months ago the Doctor and NUT said that isn't enough and to increase. They both told me this is a lifestyle change and that no need eat low calories when we have to be realistic and eat this way forever. I know I will eventually lose the weight so I am not worried about it, just frustrated. Because I work out I see nothing wrong with 900-1200 calories daily. According to the Doc and NUT if I continue eating even 1200 calories daily I will lose the weight and keep it off. I think I need to increase my H20 intake. I don't drink enough water at times. Again thanks for all the advice!!
  3. No and that is a GREAT idea. I am going to start tracking. Thanks for the input. I never thought about tracking my measurements.
  4. I am 5 1/2 months out and eat between 700-900 calories a day. I work out 4 days a week and I am losing very slowly right now. I am wondering if I am not eating enough maybe? When I work out I burn about 300 calories. Sometimes a little less. Does anyone know how many calories we should be eating? I get a ton of Protein in daily so I know that isn't the issue. Please help!!

    Journaling food intake

I love Lose it!! Try it out.
  6. Hi Everyone, I have been on a 2 week stall and I don't know why? My weight has remained the same for 2 weeks and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I work out 4 days a week and consume on average about 800 calories a day. I am 4 1/2 months out and a little frustrated. Is this normal? I don't know if I am maybe not eating enough or eating too much. Any input or advice would be most appreciated. I am very happy with my sleeve but just a little frustrated as to why no loss in 2 weeks. Maybe this is normal?
  7. I am almost 4 months pre-op and I am getting a little discouraged. I have done ok and lost 61 pounds so far however I need advice. I eat between 700-900 calories a day which includes my Protein drink. I also work out 4 days a week. Well this week I was only down 1 pound and last week 2 pounds. That does not seem right. I burn about 250 calories at the gym. What am I doing wrong? Starting weight 292, current weight 231. I know the weight does slow down but I would think I would lose at least 2 pounds every week the way I exercise and eat. I use the LOSE IT app and it is great. I have a lot of protein and not much in carbs at all. I am certain that I will lose the excess weight in time but I really didn't think I would have this slow period. It seems like I was losing more when I didn't work out, which does not make any sense. I have only been working out now for about a month. Could it be I am building muscle? My doctor told me that I can actually eat up to 1200 calories daily, which I don't because I am satisfied and at this point cannot eat that much. Any advice would be helpful as I feel a bit discouraged. Not to mention I have lost 61 pounds and very few people even notice.
  8. During the week I usually eat yogurt or 100 calorie oatmeal for breakfast, a protien shake is the first thing I have every morning. Lunch consists of 45 calorie bread (1 pc) and 3-4 oz of shaved deli meat. For dinner I usually have a pc of fish and later I snack on beef jerky. Some days I eat a protein bar before I head off to the gym. This could be my so called "stall". I am happy with the results but wish I could lose 2-3 pounds weekly.

    Popcorn?

I am almost 4 months out and eat Popcorn at the movies. Be very careful because I was amazed how much I could eat. It goes down way to easy and tastes way too good. I still eat it at the movies but I am careful not to overeat. Popcorn does not bother my stomach at all and like I said just be mindful when you are eating it that you don't overdue it. I do enjoy Popcorn at the movies and I feel that if I can eat it in moderation then that is fine. Oh by the way I hit 60 pounds down today. Not quite 4 months out. I am a happy camper!!
  10. I need some advice please. I am 5 weeks post op and sometimes when I eat all of a sudden I feel awful. It feels like the food is stuck and I need to burp. I don't burp and I am miserable until it seems like the food goes down. I get this awful pressure feeling and pain. It isn't a bad pain but the pressure and stuck feeling is not fun. It lasted for about 40 minutes and I almost vomited. I ate chicken when this happened and the nurse told me to wait for a few weeks and try it again. Now last night I ate fish and again it happened. It only lasted about 15 minutes. I had no nausea but same stuck feeling. Once it subsides I am fine. I am now scared to eat. Is this normal? I do weight all my food and the stuck feeling does not happen with most foods. Just some foods. To be completely honest I ate 2 oz of fish and was fine. Then about 2 hours later I ate 3 straight small pretzel's. Once I ate them forget it, I got that sick stuck feeling. I think the issue is that maybe I ate them too fast, which I did and that caused it. I know I should have not had the 3 pretzel's but I did. As far as the chicken that was the worst episode and I really don't know why it happened. Does this stuck pressure feeling ever go away? Does anyone else have this probelm?
  11. I am so sorry to hear that. Praying for you and that everything works out. I am sure it will. Keep your chin up..
  12. On my support group meeting last night a few people were talking about Chia seeds and how they use them to help keep full. Does anyone know about this and if so how much do you use? I heard you have to be careful with them because they expand.
  13. Thanks again for all the reply's. Eating slower and chewing well and no problems so far.
  14. Thinkthin and Doxieville, I went to my support meeting last night and my Doctor leads the group. I told him about what happened and he said that can happen at first and to just chew well, take small bites and eat slow. I told him about the famous "pretzels" and he said that I was ok to eat that. He said a few pretzels are not going to put on weight. What puts on weight is sugar, chocolate, etc. In fact he said pretzels are much better to eat than potato chips. Anyway all is good and I just need to follow his advice and I will be fine. Glad he said along with others at the support group that this is only temporary on the stuck feeling. Thanks again all for your input.
  15. Thanks Amazon13. Yes I ate 2 of the thin straight pretzels. Don't get all upset about it.. Calm down. I am human still and yes I should not have done that. Geez cut me some slack. I have done very well following Doctor's orders with the exception of eating the pretzels. I work out 4 days a week and am doing very well otherwise. I am not the first to make a mistake and I won't be the last. Trust me the 2 tiny pretzels did not hurt me. It was the eating too fast..
  16. Thanks again for the advice. I love this website. I know I am not alone on this journey. Yes twooley you are right about the pretzels. I know I should not have touched any. Well big lesson learned. I really feel much better now after all your words of wisdom. I am sure this is a temporary thing and it will subside. I just need to train myself to eat slowly and chew, chew, chew.
  17. I am going to make an effort every time I eat to chew well. I did here though that the stuck feeling is temporary. No sure if that is true.
  18. My question is what is the approximate daily calorie intake we are supposed to follow? I am only 1 month out and have about 500-600 calories a day, with most of the calories being from Protein drinks. Today is actually my one month post op and I didn't lose anything this week. I was surprised because I worked hard at my exercise and walking on the treadmill but I know the "stalls" do happen. I am not discouraged because I know the weight will eventually come off. I just wondered on the calorie intake? Any reply's would be great. I know the calorie intake right now is low for me because I am only a month out, but what about later down the road? Also at what point can you eat most things? I ate a Protein Bar yesterday (about 3/4 of the bar). Maybe I should not be eating that so soon? It is a good way for me to get in my protien and the one I found is great. It is called Quest with 20G Protein. It has 5 grams of non Fiber carbs, 1gram of sugar and no trans fat. It has 170 calories. Someone else who had the surgery told me about these and they are really good. Most health food stores sell them. I purchased mine at GNC. I just hope I didn't eat this too soon? Another question I have is how many ounces we eat. I eat about 2 to 2.5 oz at a time and that is all I can handle. Will it always be that way?
  19. Thanks for the responses. I have not tried the one's that Costco sells but I will the next time I go there.
  20. Thanks for all of the great reply's. This site is great for advice and since we all go though basically the same thing it's nice to have this outlet.

    Bougie Sizes?

My Doctor used a size 34. It seems as if the size 34 is the most used size according to the searches that I did.
  22. I have 3 weeks post op today and I am having issues taking capsules. I take my B1 capsule and it is not all that large and it feels "stuck" in my throat for about 1/2 hr then it seems to be fine. I also have to take a capsule for high bp and it also gets stuck. The Doctor told me I was ok to take any capsules but I hate that stuck feeling. Will this ever subside? The prescription med I take does not come in pills and the capsule tastes unbearble to open up and put in applesauce. It is really bad tasting like a chemical. Any suggestions?
  23. Thanks for the help. I am doing better today and the capsule works in the middle of the food.
  24. Thanks for the reply's. It sure helped.
  25. When it is you can start cutting down all the protien shakes? I am only 3 weeks out and I know I still need a lot of protien but just wondered if you have to have 80 grams or more of protien forever? Also any advice on what to eat at 3 weeks out? My Doctor gave me the go ahead to start eating regular foods now but to start slowing with softer foods. Any suggestions?
