Is anybody else from Maine? The greater Bangor area maybe? I'd love to have someone local to chat with! -

5 Confessions (Join In)

I confess that I gained 5 lbs over the holidays. That I fell back into a pattern of grazing. That I eat chocolate everyday again. And that I am finding it nearly impossible to get my head back in the right place to continue my journey. And all of this is depressing the hell out of me which just makes me want more bad food. -
Back On The Soup :(

I've tried the Unjury chicken broth and hated it. Love their protein shakes though. -
What Do You Use In Your Protein Shakes?
changes4me replied to stellabug321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sleeve doesn't like skim milk. I have found that Silk soy milk is great and my family likes it also. For protein powder, I really like the Unjury chocolate splendor the best. The only problem is its pricey and you have to order it online. -

It varies so much. Everyone is different. I seem to be a slow loser. Sleeved August 13th and I've lost 25 lbs. Others have dropped 40+ at this point. You will lose but there are no good indicators as to how fast. Best of luck to you!

Sleeved 8/6 And Suddenly Trouble Eating
changes4me replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say you may be dehydrated. I started having sort of the same symptoms; food just wasn't settling and it made me not want to eat or drink. At my six week follow up, my surgeon said that I was dehydrated and sent me over to the hospital for 2 bags of IV fluids. She sounded like it would be a cure all, but honestly, I didn't feel any different after. I did start making myself drink more and once I did so consistently, I began to feel better. The surgeon told me that sometimes the discomfort in the stomach is from dehydration, but your body doesn't realize it. Good luck to you. -
Telling Wveryone Or No One
changes4me replied to Mich grand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I chose to tell only my husband, kids and parents. I didn't want anyone else to know. However, my dad, who is 76 and my favorite person in the world; likes to talk. Apparently he's told a couple of people and the word has spread throughout my extended family. Dear old Dad doesn't remember saying anything to anyone though. God love him. So far, nobody has said anything to me directly. My brother's gf asked my mother if I had surgery yet; and without thinking, Mom said yes. Then the brother's gf went into a long lecture about how she can't believe I would do something so drastic, there's no getting that back, and why would I do that, etc. I'm not really sure how Mom answered her questions, don't really care. The only person to support me from the get-go was my husband. My 19 year old daughter said I was taking the "easy way" out. My Mom and Dad didn't think I should do it because something could go wrong and I could end up worse off. I understand they love me and worry. But ultimately, it was my decision and my decision alone. I only regret telling my Dad because he has no filter. LOL. Good luck to you! -
Weight Update For August 13 Sleevers!
changes4me replied to dcbfly's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's awesome! Congratulations! I don't have any pictures to post yet. I started at 258 and am now 211. I just this week lost 3 lbs after nearly a 3 week stall. I'm pretty much eating whatever I want, but just a bite or two. Much more than that I end up feeling sick. I have to drink a protein shake each day just to meet my protein. I ended up getting two liters of IV fluids at my six week check up because I was dehydrated. It's a huge struggle to get my fluids in. Have to say that I love my sleeve too, despite any discomfort it may be giving me right now. Keep up the good work! -

I am almost 4 weeks out and take Lexapro for depression. Up until this week, my depression symptoms were pretty good. This week though, I'm sad, tired, weepy, etc. No idea why, but I hope it gets better soon. Tell your mom she's not alone and I don't think this is uncommon. Best of luck to her.

Concerned About Fast Weight Loss-11 Days Post-Op
changes4me replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just had my surgery on Monday. I have had a little nausea, but not bad enough to require meds; however, my doctor sent me home with a prescription for anti-nausea medication. You should call your doctor, they should be able to give you something. Hope you start feeling better soon. -
My surgery is tomorrow. I'm excited, but honestly, I'm scared to death. I've had surgeries before, but never had the fear that I have with this. I feel it's the right decision, but that doesn't make it any less scary.
