Twisted Stomach?
SoonToBeThinKAT replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank I appreciate the link! I'm hoping that is not my issue I guess I will find out soon enough -
K so I was sleeved on 9/19 and had actually gained a little weight prior to surgery and started at 262. Yes I know probably not a good idea to gain weight before surgery but I wanted to make sure I ate stuff I knew i would not be able to eat for a while:) anyways I ended up with some complications first with an infection in my drain tract, then an issue with " white foamy vomit" as my surgeon calls it, and dehydration. I have been back to the hospital 3 times since surgery because of dehydration alone. I was also not able to eat any puréed foods. I was put on a puréed diet once I left the hospital. It ended up getting to the point to where I could not drink anything without throwing up. And for whatever reason I felt better ..out of the blue. No more nausea no pain nothing. I have been able to eat only a very tiny amount but at least I am able to get some foods in and my fluid intake has improved. I am not anywhere near where I need to be but it has improved so much. I am hoping it gets better everyday from now. I am supposed to be moved to soft foods starting 10/15 so hopefully I will be able to tolerate it. My weight loss so far has amazed me but I am also sure part of it has to do with the fact that I have not had any foods and hardly any fluids but I went from 262 to 230 as of this morning. That is 32 lbs in2 weeks and 4 days. Just feeling better and wanted everyone to know

Restaurant Food Choices? 19 Days Post Op.
SoonToBeThinKAT replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would stick with a soup and avoid any chucks considering your only 19 days post op. I wouldn't think any surgeon would recommend solid foods that early -

SoonToBeThinKAT replied to michelleooo513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the hospital for 2 nights which is standard for my surgeon and I am out of work for 4 weeks which works for me bc I have had a few complications. The 4 weeks was approved for fmla and short term. I have a desk job. -
If It's Not One Thing Its Another!
SoonToBeThinKAT posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only 9 days post op and I am getting even more frustrated then every. FIrst snag in the road was my drain causing a lot of pain. Then I get an infection in the drain tract after the drain was removed. NOW I can not eat or drink anything without it feeling it is coming back up. It feels like it is sitting and I have to literally push the or liquids down by pressing on my chest where it feels stuck and even with that it all feels like its coming back up. I thought maybe I am eating/drinking too much? but its not because it started up again first thing this morning with my first sip. So I called the surgeons office thinking its just acid reflux and now they want me to go back in and plan on staying for a while so they can run tests, iv for fluids bc im not getting my liquids in and medication. I read on here about how well some people are doing and i am so jealous. I just want to feel normal again. -
If It's Not One Thing Its Another!
SoonToBeThinKAT replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no!!! I am so sorry. Here I thought I was having a lot of problems:(. What are they doing with this blood clot? Are they just giving you meds or do they have u in the hospital? -
Please make sure your getting in your fluids. I have been back to the hospital twice bc of dehydration and its not fun:(. And if your dr is just saying drink more then I would unfortunately go to the emergency room because brown pee and pain is NOT good. Maybe you have a uti if you had a catheter in at the hospital. Please get it checked out I would hate it if something was seriously wrong and it was ignored.

If It's Not One Thing Its Another!
SoonToBeThinKAT replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No bc they always feel like they are getting stuck. They gave me nexium and it seems to have helped with the "white foamy vomit" but I'm almost too scared to try any puréed even if the dr released me to try to eat again. I went to the grocery store today with my hubby and literally nothing looked good. Everything made me want to puke so I can't even look at food. Ugh -

SoonToBeThinKAT replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm updating you from the hospital room while hooked to my iv waiting for more drugs. I have what the surgeon called "white foamy vomit" which I'm sure is the technical term. They r giving me stuff now to try to stop it and if it doesn't they will have to admit me. If it does stop I go home tonight and if it starts again then to the ER I go this weekend. My diet has now been restricted to liquids only until further notice which is nothing different from the past couple of days since I haven't been able to eat anything anyways. This sucks. -
I was "hungry" the evening of surgery. They told me its not unusual but usually happens few days out. My stomach was actually growling
-
That is a fear that I have. I am only 1 week post op and have lost 13lbs but I think a lot of that is just no food but hey I'm not complaining. I am just hoping that I continue to lose weight even if its only a couple pounds a week.

They drew blood to check my white blood count and sent me home with a prescription for antibiotics and said when the blood work comes back and shows a really high count they will need to do a scan and hospitalize me. Pain After Drain Removal?
SoonToBeThinKAT replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah hat is what the concern is is that there is an infection inside. It does not look infected on the outside. Right now I plan on going tomorrow if its not better. It's just frustrating. -
Pain After Drain Removal?
SoonToBeThinKAT replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I had pain before the drain was removed. It was removed yesterday and since last night there has been a pain increasing on the left side(drain side) and the inside where the drain was sitting. There is no puss but the drain site is red and they did say it could be an infection where the drain was inside of me. I have been in contact with the dr office and was told me if it gets worse to go in. I haven't been able to find anything on here about it to see if its normal to get worse before it gets better? It also hurts to take deep breaths only in the area where the drain was at. My plan is to wait and see how it is tomorrow and trying to avoid er tonight. -
Getting Drainage Tube Removed
SoonToBeThinKAT replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I had the drain tube removed and when she removed the stitch it did hurt some, more like a sting, but when she pulled that drainage tube out it felt so unnatural!!! Lol. She kept asking me if it tickled! Tickle is NOT the word I would have used. I'm just glad it's out bc I do feel better now. -

SoonToBeThinKAT posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so I was sleeves in Wednesday 9/19 and was sent home last night. I am still have the "stuck" feeling when I drink anything. I can only assume its from the sleeve being swollen but do you guys know when it may go away??? I feel like I am not getting enough fluids in bc of it.
