December sleevers
DanaInNewOrleans replied to biddykm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh how I can relate! Surgery was 12/21 and down 20 lbs. I was hoping for me. In the last few weeks the acid problem has gotten much worse for me. I've been on Prilosec 2x day the entire time but it does not seem to be doing the job anymore. Also, I was getting nauseous a lot and couldn't figure out why. I missed my Vitamins a couple of days in a row and guess what? No nausea. I now cut the pill in half and take it in two doses....the evening and right before bed. It does seem to have helped. Lets keep the faith! ~Dana -
Depressed --- Need the VST Gang Reality Check
DanaInNewOrleans replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know, I've GOT to find a way to get more water down my throat.... When my brother asked me, so how much weight have you lost?, I lied and said 25 lbs.... I had told him 20 lbs 2 weeks ago and I was too embarrassed to tell him I had not lost anything in almost 2 weeks. Oh what a tangled web we weave.... LOL... -

Worried - Need Encouragement...
DanaInNewOrleans replied to RichardVST's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your story is the EXACT reason for the success of this surgery. I remember my doc telling me that the key to the sleeve's success is that it gives the patient the tool to NOT gain the weight back. By the way, the fact that you recognize (and had the courage to express it) the issue means you've won half the battle. Now you just have to devise a plan to counteract it.... There are a ton of people here on VST that will offer you support when you need it.... ~Dana -
Anyone tried Green Coffee Extract recommended by Dr. Oz?
DanaInNewOrleans posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is the link.... I've have two friends taking it and they have seen results.... http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/green-coffee-fat-burner-works?video=14464 Apparently Dr. Oz conducted his own trial and got great results..... He doesn't endorse any particular brand. Just wondering if anyone has tried it. I'm a slow loser and thought I might try it -- maybe it would boost my losses a little bit.... ~Dana -

Today i found out that i streched my pouch
DanaInNewOrleans replied to LadiWobs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My personal observation about restriction... As long as I am drinking a protein shake or something gooey or liquidity it takes me a while to feel any restriction. I know when I've had enough when I just don't "feel" like eating anymore. Almost like, ok, I'm done with this or it just suddenly isn't appetizing anymore. But, when I eat dense protein, I almost immediately hit a brick wall (stomach!). With just a few bites I am miserable. I have no choice but to stop or it feels like a heart attack! Now to the question about lower BMIs having smaller sleeves... It is my understanding that they use a bougie to measure, which would mean that the sleeve sizes would not be drastically different, right? Maybe they give guys a little bigger sleeve than women, I don't know. -

LOL! My husband is a PhD and only his mother addresses him as Dr. (addresses him as in sending him something in the mail). We always get a kick out of it. Oh yeah, I forgot ...his students do as well. -

Flats/Wraps & low carb tortilla help!
DanaInNewOrleans replied to lilbearzmom's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Try the Mission Carb Balance Tortillas. The are VERY GOOD and they are NOT wheat tortillas. I tried a few of those over the the years and they were horrible and gross to me. I always threw them out-- along with whatever I had made with the first one out of the package. I also make low carb tortilla chips with the Mission Carb Balance and have party guests rave about them (who have no idea they're low carb). -

I've been eating fresh blueberries for a few weeks...I was only told I could eat soft fruit not hard fruit like apples. Also to avoid acidic fruit.

All of my December sleevers...
DanaInNewOrleans replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had this exact thing... it was a deep gnawing type emptiness. It felt like very much like hunger and I was kind of surprised. But after doing a little digging for info I realized that it was acid. I also worried that I had developed an ulcer because I took 3 Advil on an empty stomach two days in a row ( I have a torn ACL that causes swelling and pain) without even thinking about the surgery. That empty feeling started right after that... anyway, I was already on Prevacid 2x day and I added 1 Zantac in the evening (info I found). It helped and for the most part the symptoms are gone. But it was pretty miserable for a while... -

Hi Aaron, I know they want us to stick to 3 meals and 2 snacks a day but since I have transitioned to real food I find it difficult to get enough calories in with 3 main meals. I cannot eat enough at one time to keep my calories up eating 3x so I kind of eat basically 5 small meals.... stuff like a couple ounces of chicken (I dip it in a dressing made with Greek yogurt), a couple ounces of fish and veggie, a couple ounces of shrimp with a tiny salad, scrambled egg whites, a Babybell Light cheese round. It also helps to keep from getting hungry. -
