I'm 7 weeks post-op. I lost 18 lbs the first month and only 2 so far this month. I'm just trying not to be discouraged....

    Forever 21 - Amazing Post-Op Results

Madison, Wow, you're post touched me. I'm so happy you were able to do this while you are still young. Your life is already completely different and will only get better.... only those of us who have lived through being obese can fathom how wonderful just being "normal" can be. Congratulations!! ~Dana
  3. Can we back off on the guy? He realizes he needs to stop. Everybody has scared him enough. Please do not forget that some docs allow their patients to begin in eating real food very soon after surgery. Some are more cautious. Also, we do not know what his situation was with regards to his ability for "preparation" so passing judgement on his commitment or lack of is again, over the top. And maybe I'm missing something but I did not get the impression that he was unable to control his "obsession". Once again, somebody posts looking for support and they get attacked and/or scared to death.
  4. I'm sure you're fine. Try to relax because you'll work yourself up to thinking you're having symptoms that aren't there! Trust me, there are many people who have done the same thing. Now, go drink a shake and enjoy the snow!n

7 weeks post op & 100 lbs down

Are you on a PPI like Prevacid or Prilosec? I know it might feel like hunger but it almost certainly is acid. It seems to start around week 3 post -op ( at least from the posts I've read here). I thought I was hungry too but it really was acid.....
  6. I'm not trying to down play that he shouldn't be eating solids but scaring the guy to death is a little over the top in my opinion. RxKid....Don't eat that stuff anymore!! If you don't have anything mushy or liquidity just stick with Protein shakes until blizzard is over!

7 weeks post op & 100 lbs down

Hi....3 week post-op stall in normal. Sometimes it's at 2weeks, sometimes at 4. Just type in 3 week post op stall and you'll pull up a TON of info and posts. Also, 17 pounds the first 2 weeks is a LOT. Your body is probably saying "what the $%#!" and needs time to adjust.

Depressed --- Need the VST Gang Reality Check

Hey Liz, No problems with my MS or Lupus at all. I was concerned about my meds too -- I take a lot and wasn't sure how I would be able to swallow all my pills. Turns out I was worried for nothing -- I've had zero issues with being able to drink or swallow my pills. A few hours after surgery I was sipping Water without issue and then progressed being able to drink normally ( no guzzling of course) the next day. The only "problem" is how to fit all the do's and don'ts in --- must not take Calcium within 2 hours of multi-Vitamin, must not take PPI or antacid within 4 hours of taking my Synthroid....the Multivitamin makes me nauseous so I have to time that as well. I really need a spreadsheet to keep track! .

    Too much food?

Perfectly normal! I had no problems with liquids at all. I was drinking almost normally by the evening after my surgery. And shakes were not a problem at all. I started feeling restriction when I started eating things like Cream of Wheat and oatmeal on the second week. When I finally got to more solid food the restriction kicked in big time. With dense Protein I can only eat a few bites before feeling like I swallowed a brick.... So don't worry- everything is good! Dana

    Ibuprofen Alternatives?

There is a gel NSAID called Voltaren....you rub it in the area that hurts. Officially it is for joints -- but I was desperate last week because I was in excruciating pain ( low low back/buttock). My brother has a prescription for Voltaren and he gave me his tube. Well, let me tell you, within 30 minutes my pain was so much better. It does still have GI risks but I'm assuming not to the degree as taking it orally. I plan on discussing with my doc and getting an Rx for it ( if it is safe).

    BJ's Bariatrics

I mix all of mine with Hood Calorie Countdown milk ( it's low carb too) with 4 or 5 ice cubes. I throw it in my little personal blender and it comes out great. Sometimes I pop a couple of tablespoons of cottage cheese in the freezer to get it hard then throw that in -- makes it really creamy. The chocolate Truffle is my "favorite" favorite!
  19. Uh, I got the impression that she was DONE with posting on VST .... not sure if we'll ever know. Maybe she is still reading the thread and will give us an update....

    All of my December sleevers...

OMG!! 72 lbs! You must be walking on cloud nine. Congratulations!

    All of my December sleevers...

Do you have trouble with protein shakes? I make one every morning -- it takes literally 1-2 minutes - and it's delicious. I get 30 grams of protein right off the bat! If I start with a shake I can get to my goal of 70 grams really easily. I also get uncomfortable with almost all dense protein, although a baked piece of softer fish goes down pretty easily. I can also handle scrambled egg whites really well -- low low calories and lots of protein. Most everything else that is not on the soft side feels like I swallowed a brick within 2 bites.... and yes, it does take the joy out of eating... which for me, might not be a bad thing! ~Dana
