First night home, How to sleep?
Mickie Vest replied to Craving2BaHealthyMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The same for me. -
I had to get cardiac clearance before they would schedule my surgery. I had a EKG and an Echo done. The cardiologist talked to me about my family history and sent a nice little approval to my surgeons office. I was sleeved May 7th.

76 lbs lost, 4 months out...and ONEDERLAND!
Mickie Vest replied to mom2five's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
We all lose at a different rate. I'm at 3 weeks and 21 lbs down. I'm sure you aren't doing anything wrong it is just the rate your body wants to drop its weight. -
May 2013 Sleevers!
Mickie Vest replied to boomarienewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would talk to your doctor about it. I've had yogurt without any issues but I've not had other things yet. -
On average how much weight does everyone need to lose?
Mickie Vest replied to Taylor06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goal is 120 which is 120 from my pre surgery weight and 100 more pounds to lose. -
May 2013 Sleevers!
Mickie Vest replied to boomarienewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Checking in. My surgery date was May 7th 2013. I'm still on clears and I'm down 21 lbs since my pre-surgery diet. -
I was sleeved May 7 and driving by May 11th. That was when I no longer needed pain meds all the time. If you have to take pain meds you shouldn't drive.

Surgery on May 7th. Down 21 lbs. Still on the clears stage.

Where the May sleevers i just got my date!
Mickie Vest replied to Luvlvnlyfe5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved May 7th and haven't had any issues. I was kept 1 extra day in the hospital because of not peeing (seriously). I did eventually pee and was released. I'm on clears for 2 weeks which seems like a lot to me but I have medication I take mixed into some yogurt. I have my 1st follow up appointment with my surgeon and NUT on Monday. Overall I'm feeling really good and I can't wait to eat something solid but I guess I have awhile to wait for that. -
Am I going to die ... ?
Mickie Vest replied to ella74ny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc had me chewing gum in the hospital after surgery! Even though it made me drool and made me nauseous. I hated it. It is so funny how different doctors say different things. I'm glad everything is going to come out all right in the end -
3days postop...when does the nausea go away?
Mickie Vest replied to Kimd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on May 7th and had nausea for the time I was in the hospital. I got meds for the nausea but I threw up SF jello once . I was concerned that they didn't send me home with nausea meds but I haven't had a problem since I've been home. I agree to ask for meds. -
Cant keep down my meds HELP!
Mickie Vest replied to SabrinaM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was nauseous when taking my meds in the hospital (not just pain meds). I started taking them with a drink they gave me in the hospital and now that I'm at home I take them with a bit of sugar free yogurt. -
Has anyone spent longer time on liquid diet then what the doctor suggests?
Mickie Vest replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
danelle235 I am on the same diet. 2 weeks of clear liquids. Seems excessive to me too. -
After a years wait I had my surgery May 7th 2013. I'm so happy to join everyone on the other side. Is there going to be any group meetings in the Cincy area?

I got the call today that my pre-approval was denied because the sleeve isn't covered by medicare. Now I know some people out there have gotten the sleeve approved via medicare. I appealed it and the drs. office is resubmitting the forms for the gastric bypass. Anyone on medicare run into this?

1St Denial - Medicare Anthem Bcbs
Mickie Vest replied to Mickie Vest's topic in Insurance & Financing
I found out Medicare covers the sleeve but my advantage plan doesn't. I'm changing plans at the beginning of the year so I'm hoping that the new one will cover it. If not I may have to make the choice to go bypass instead of sleeve. Not something I'm 100% comfortable with. -
1St Denial - Medicare Anthem Bcbs
Mickie Vest replied to Mickie Vest's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm 51 and should qualify for the surgery. I appealed with Anthem bcbs but I don't really want an RNY but I guess I'll take it if that is my only other option. Self pay isn't an option. -

When did they tell you that you couldn't use Dr. Kerlakian? I may owe Tri health money too but I've already paid the program fee for Dr. Kerlakian.

My current therapist had to send a letter to the psych evaluator. I'm bipolar and have been seeing a psychiatrist and therapist for awhile.

Needing Advice Asap!
Mickie Vest replied to jwaller7577's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would get a second opinion from another surgeon. That is crazy to do that diet for 6 months.
