I was going to quit 3 days ago but have had 1 or 2 cigarettes each day. That is down from a pack a day so maybe tomorrow is my day for no cigarettes at all. I definitely could use all the help I can get.

A Little Embarrasing...implant - What Size?
Mickie Vest replied to BlueOctoberGirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had implants put in when I was thin and 35. I was a size AA and went to a C. I'm hippy so they fit my figure. You don't want to go too big as you have to consider the pull on your back too. Many women with overly large breasts have back problems because of them. I asked my plastic surgeon for his opinion and he had the same size idea I had. Mine looked really natural (Well if perky breasts can look natural on a 35 year old woman with 3 kids). I have since lost my boobs to breast cancer (implants too ). I wasn't able to have reconstructive surgery at the time because I was uninsured so I'll be looking into that as soon as I've lost my excess weight. -

Quitting Smoking While Preparing For Surgery
Mickie Vest replied to irish1988's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm hoping I can quit when it comes down to it. I don't have a surgery date yet so I'm still puffing away but I know the only way to really do it is cold turkey. It doesn't help that I live with 2 other smokers that have no intention of quitting. -
Fearful Of Upcoming Pcp Appt
Mickie Vest replied to Boofster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree switch doctors. I'm a doctor shopper and will switch until I find one I like. I spent 3 years going to different psychiatrists before finding one that actually listened to me. Less time finding a PCP but I'm going to have to switch here soon because he isn't in my new insurances network. -
Faith Matters! Or Faith Matters?

I'm an Atheist so a god never entered into my decision. This forum has been a font of information and has greatly influenced my decision to have this surgery. -
Sending In For Insurance Approval, Very Nervous!
Mickie Vest posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got a call from the lady at my surgeon's office that she was sending in my pre-approval for the sleeve surgery. I'm so afraid I'm going to be turned down or have to go on a 6 month diet (which I've never successfully done). My BMI was 40 when I first went to my surgeon's office but now I'm 39 point something. I do have sleep apnea and I'm pre-diabetic. I have a medicare advantage plan and I'll be changing carriers on Jan 1 so I'm really hoping to get the surgery this year. Thank you I just needed to get that off my chest. -
Going Broke Buying New Clothes!

What a wonderful problem to have and congrats on your weight loss. I hope to have that problem soon. -
My clinic say no weight gain. I'm freaking out about it as I haven't been good in what I've been eating lately. I gotta get back on track and stop eating myself out of surgery.

If you are weight lifting remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Have you actually increased a pants size along with the 5lbs? I wish I could be more help but I'm pre sleeve and haven't found out yet if I'm going to be a slow loser.

Nsv - Someone Finally Noticed!
Mickie Vest replied to enigmachik's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
People that see you everyday or often my not notice the change but those that see you occasionally will but may not say anything for fear of offending you. You can share your accomplishments by mentioning your new pant size or that you have been losing weight and that would leave them open to compliment you. I've lost quite a few pounds pre sleeve and only one person mentioned that I looked like I'm losing weight. Everyone I live with haven't said a thing. -
I initially went in to see the doctor for the band since it is reversible but on his advice I am opting on the sleeve. I have 93 lbs to lose and I think I can do that with the help of the sleeve. I didn't think I needed the malabsorption of the RNY to get to goal. I'm cautious about the RNY because I have heard of malnouishment issues with it. That is why I opted for the sleeve.

Are You Changing The Way You Eat Before Pre-Op Diet?
Mickie Vest replied to SarahG0417's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been exercising more and watching what I eat. I've lost a few pounds but nothing dramatic. My PCP told me I had to lose 10 lbs in 2 months and I went on a mostly liquid diet to lose those 10 lbs. I haven't been perfect doing proteins and staying away from sugar for the past week and I've gained a pound. I need to reset and get back on my diet of lean proteins and no sugar. I'm no were near a pre op diet yet. -
I'll miss my morning coffee. I'm not sure I'm going to give it up long term although my NUT says to. Who knows I may change my mind after going without it for a period of time.

Blab To Everyone, Or "close To The Vest?"
Mickie Vest replied to ArcusX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've blabbed it to everyone. Family and Facebook. I'm not a very private person and I think the reason for that is I don't care about other people's opinions. I made this decision and I'm comfortable with it. If someone has a bad opinion of it I'd tell them to not have the surgery. Bam, problem solved. -
Are Any Of You Stii Using Your Cpap?
Mickie Vest replied to beefalogal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

The Stuff They Don't Tell You

Thanks everyone for sharing. I'm pre-op and read the entire thread. It really has helped knowing what may happen and know I wouldn't be the only one. -
That actually sounds good. I may try that and I'm not even post approval yet.

I'm Getting Sleeved Today!
Mickie Vest replied to Banned member's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad your recovering okay. I'm glad to know about the buyer's remorse since I have a case of the nerves now and I don't even have a surgery date yet. -

I like hearing real world stories like yours. I'm not scheduled for surgery yet and I have yet to get insurance approval but I'm still nervous about what is to come. Being able to share the nervousness helps me greatly. Thank you and you sound like you are right on track. -

Curious? Any One In Cincinnati?
Mickie Vest replied to zebrasprinkles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm very pre-op and I have my first appointment with the nut and exercise physiologist tomorrow. I'm going to Tri-Health weight management center at Good Sam hospital. I'm nervous. I've lost some weight since I first met with them a couple of months ago and I'm now under 40 BMI (just under). I'm nervous and just wanted to touch base with some others in the area that have already past the stage I'm at. I'm nervous about gaining weight and getting rejected like I did before. I had breast cancer and I have to tell you the treatment was a breeze compared to this. No question about insurance covering it and everyone treats you so nice. I'm afraid my past experience is going to sabotage this. Although I do feel more ready for it then I did then. I was more desperate then. I haven't been heavy long just the last 7 of my 51 years. But it was a fast ride up the weight scale. I'm rambling. I'll end this now. -

I'm just having my first appointments next week so I'm pre-pre-surgery. I don't know what insurance is going to require. I was denied many years ago so I'm trying to really watch what I eat. I'm nervous that this will end in some failure too.
