Now For The Wait.....
thinathart replied to gtracygilby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! The first time I called (on Monday), they didn't have the paperwork yet. 48 hrs later it's approved. I hope the same for you! -

Yep. I don't even want to take my before pictures, even though I know I should so I can watch the transformation. -

Fingers crossed they're both approved in less than that! I'm hoping to have it done before the holidays. I'm up in the EC area. -

I have BCBS also. My paperwork was submitted on Monday. I hope I get the good news as quickly as you did! Best of luck to you. -
Me too! My husband is from MN originally, so I converted to a Viking fan many, many years ago.

My paperwork was submitted on Monday...it's been 48 hrs of torture waiting for the phone to ring. They told me to call back next Monday, but it could be up to 2 weeks before I know! -
I've been in WI my entire life too...not a packer fan either.

Birth Control
thinathart replied to Look@meitsEmily's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on depo for several years. I asked about it's effectiveness after the sleeve. My PCP and nutritionist both said it will still be just as effective and not to worry. (I'm a worrier). -
Sometimes things do just happen...no fault of anyone. I'm sorry this has happened to you and I hope your leak heals quickly. I'll be thinking of you and hoping things improve very soon.

Complications After Surgery.
thinathart replied to kimberlee1235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for keeping us all updated. We're all praying for a speedy recovery. -
I just had mine on Wednesday. I had to fill out 4 questionaires, which took about 30 minutes. Meeting with the Dr. was about 20 minutes. My appt was scheduled for 2 hrs 20 minutes...but only took about 50 minutes total. It wasn't stressful. They're just looking for signs of any addictions and if you understand the changes you'll be going through. I was nervous before it, but it was low key. Good luck!

Congrats! Can you share who your insurance is with? I still have 3 months left of the "diet" for my insurance policy.

Is there anyone out there who have reached their goal and not had hair loss? I see lots of posts regarding hair loss...but wondering if anyone was able to avoid it?

I was hoping there was someone out there who didn't experience hair loss. I know it will probably happen to me, but at least this gives me hope.

As of today I weigh 125lb more than I did 22 years ago. On average, that's 5 lbs a year. Unfortunately for me, I gained about 75 of it my first year in college and I've been on the upward spiral ever since. I'm guessing I've gained and lost several hundred pounds in those 22 years...always seeming to have that highest weight number increase. I think I've been denial about my weight. I never thought I'd be a WLS candidate...but here I am. Ready to reclaim life. I remember when I was healthy, active and confident. I miss that girl. I hadn't really heard of the sleeve until I had a back injury. My MRI results read something to the effect..."due to the patients size". WTH? I was in denial. How could I not see I am 125 lbs over weight for all this time? I knew I was over weight...but really? 125lbs? How did it get to this? Regardless of how, I'm taking the steps to get healthy again. I'm 2 months into a 6 month program to learn how to handle the surgery and be successful using the sleeve as a tool. All of you have really given me insight to myself. Funny how strangers with similar stories can do that.
