Oberto Strikes Back at Vegans - Releases Bacon Jerky
thinathart commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
I'm eating some of this right now for mid morning snack! It's actually really good. -
My only regret is I didn't have it done sooner! It's been a true blessing. I feel so much better being 80 lbs lighter. Best of luck to you!

I have BCBS-IL and I had to meet with a wellness/exercise coordinater three times to go over some goals. I think my appts were 30 minutes each. BCBS paid for the appointments. There are a lot of hoops to go through, but it's totally worth it! Good luck

SF popsicles got me thru the first week. It was the only fluid source my new stomach would tolerate. I think I went through 6 boxes of them.

Telling other people
thinathart replied to ready2inspire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't tell anyone I work with. I only told my hubby and best friend. I didn't want the judgement, attitude or opinions of others who had no idea what it is like to be morbidly obese. I'm glad I didn't tell. When people ask, I tell them I am eating far less calories which are 90% Protein and exercising regularly. Both of which are 100% truthful. I wasn't embarassed about the actual surgery, I was embarassed that I had let myself get to the point of needing surgery. I'm so glad I have my sleeve now. Best of luck to you! -
Congrats! I have BCBS also. It's great insurance for covering the VSG. Best of luck to you for a speedy surgery date.

I wasnt' a coffee drinker prior to surgery, but I drink a chike protein iced coffee every morning mixed with soy milk. It's awesome and gives me that little extra energy boost.

Almost 6 months post surgery...stalled weight loss
thinathart replied to kcaaunt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 6 months out on 4/30. I hit a stall the past month. I joined a gym today to try and break it. I tried changing around my calories/carbs/fats...nothing helped. I'm praying exercise is going to get things going again. Best of luck to you! -
Could you try some string cheese or greek yogurt for a snack instead of the fruit and/or pita chips? I can see how easily the purging could start, but please try to stop yourself. Long term purging will do damage to yourself that can't be fixed.

My NUT warned me that an eating disorder was a real possibilty after WLS and it's as common as other transfer addictions. I can see how easily it could happen. I feel sad for you that you feel like you need to purge. Have you tried to focus on just eating protein or maybe going back to shakes for a few days? There is something they talk about called the 5 day pouch test. I'm sorry I don't have more info to share on that.

is there coffee in my future?
thinathart replied to ladylei0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink the protein iced coffee by chike. It's awesome! You get the caffeine plus 20g of protein (more if you mix with milk). I think they sell sampler packets, but I went for the big container. I drink it every morning. -
Those who had over heating and sweating issues prior to surgery chime in..
thinathart replied to Heather Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over 6 months out and almost 80 lbs down, and I don't sweat anymore. Prior to surgery, I looked forward to wearing a sweater/long sleeves, so that no one would know I was sweating. I dreaded summer because of sweat showing through my clothes. I'm happy to say along with losing the excess weight, I've also lost the excess sweating! I hope you get the same results. It was just an added bonus to the whole journey! -
That is so AWESOME! Congrats. I'm one lb away from joining you!
-
That's a 92 pound loss of awesomeness! Way to go!!

Before you switch, maybe stop back into the original hospital and see if things have changed? Maybe there was a staffing issue that day (unexpected turnaround, etc...). Especially if you liked the surgeon, it might be worth a second chance checking it out again? Good luck with your decision.

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday. No one at work knows about my surgery. I took those days as "vacation". Good luck!

Surgery is 2 weeks from today....aaaahhhh!
thinathart replied to jgarnick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Follow your Dr.'s follow up advice and you'll do AWESOME! The sleeve is a great tool, but it comes with strict instructions to maximize it's purpose. Can't wait to see you on the losers bench. I think everyone is nervous about surgery, but it will be worth it. It so has been for me. -
I remember answering if I saw ghosts or had imaginary friends...it made me wonder if anyone ever checked "yes", just to see if they actually read the answers.

Where did this fat lady come from?
thinathart commented on Flutterby's blog entry in Flutterby's Blog
I can very much relate to your story. The good news is before you know it...you'll be shrinking into that girl you were meant to always be. Best of luck -
Having you been looking at things differently since being sleeved?
thinathart replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I pay more attention now too...but it's only because less than 6 months ago I was that person. It amazes me how much I was able to consume at one time pre-sleeve. I'm thankful everyday I was given this tool to help keep me in check with a healthier lifestyle. -
"Eating-too-fast syndrome".... anyone else?
thinathart replied to racoon_439's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only time I get sick, is if I eat too fast. It doesn't matter the quantity. If I eat pretty much anything too fast (even just a couple bites), I'll throw up. After almost 6 months, I still get the occassional reminder to slow down.
