Frustrated Beyond Belief & Having Second thoughts ...
thinathart replied to Emilysmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. You can't physically shovel it in anymore (or you'll barf) and you don't have the same hunger sensations. You eat untl you feel satisfied. I don't eat until I feel full. 2. I haven't had a c-section, but I did have a lapro. partial coloectomy a couple years agao, an it it hurt way worse than VSG surgery. VSG surgery was fine for me. I was back to working FT 4 days after surgery. 3. I eat pretty normally now...except much smaller quantities. I stay away from bread, rice, Pasta and sweets. Not because I can't tolerate them, but because eating those things lead me directly down the path of needing VSG. I eat a lot of different kinds of Protein and some veggies. I don't eat much fruit. I find it makes me crave carbs. Give your surgeon a call, get rescheduled. It was the best gift I ever gave myself. -
I'm almost 8 months out...and that last bite still usually ends up in me having the foamies.

I had BCBS-IL, I didn't have to pay anything to the surgeon, but I had to pay the hospital $2K. It was the best money I've ever spent!

I try to do it first thing in the morning before work. If I waited until after work, I would be able to talk myself out of it. I didn't exercise the first 6 months and now I really wished I would have. I hate exercise and I don't like going to the gym (at all), but I feel so good after I'm done and I've reached my exercise goal for the day. I don't see myself ever "liking it", more of tolerating it.

Quest Cravings makes a protein peanut butter cup. I usually only eat one when I'm having a sweet craving. 120 cal, 3.5g net carb, 10g protein. Hits the spot.

Feel like a failure :(
thinathart replied to JessicaAnn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The fact that you realized it's important not to cheat is a great sign. After you have your surgery, you won't be able to cheat for several weeks/months. You can do this! It's so worth it! -
I have severe disc denegration disease (only one bad disc so far) but they counted that as a co-morbitity. I have BCBS-IL.

I'm almost 8 months out and still have food dreams. I finally had one where I took a small portion because I told myself "you can't eat that much anymore". I think my brain has finally caught up. Finally!

I know it is scary, but it is truly the best decision I have ever made for myself. I chose not to tell anyone (other than hubby and best friend), just because it was hard enough to follow through with the decision without everyone giving unsolicited advice about it. I'm so glad I did it and that I didn't share with many people.

Bread gives me the foamies. Once you've experience them...that craving will disappear. Foamies = bad. At almost 8 months out, I don't really crave anything. I feel like I'm finally free of the control food had over me. Say no to Blimpie.

Five months out, down ~80 lbs, but getting dizzy...
thinathart replied to rmeofone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 8 months out, and I still have dizzy spells when I stand up from sitting. I've never passed out or fallen down. It's usually just about 30-60 seconds of dizziness, then it clears itself up. -
Top 10 things I will NOT miss after WLS
thinathart replied to auntyc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't miss going to buffets and people watching the amount of food on my plate(s). I don't miss having to make up excuses for not wanting to put on a swimsuit. I also don't miss snotty comments from my mother in law about what I am eating. -
You'll know when you wake up in the recovery room. Seriously, all the seminars, nut meetings, psycn eval, lab work...it's all been preparing you for this journey. Best of luck to you! Follow the plan, and you'll do great!

My Dumping Syndrome horror story (read if you dare)
thinathart replied to HatheryOnHerWay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You poor thing! How traumatic for you and your hubby. I wonder if it was the lemonade or the beer cheese soup? -
Snacking after surgery
thinathart replied to Emilysmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I enjoy turkey jerky or tenderbites jerky for a snack. -
Foods that make you poop...
thinathart replied to MK1986's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't tried the oil, but I would assume it would carry over similar effects. I had it sprinkled it on various things (apparently too many things). -
Stalled for a month....
thinathart replied to MK1986's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was stalled all of month 6...not one stinkin pound. I stayed on plan and joined a gym. Finally the scale started moving again. It's discouraging, but eventually they break and the weight continues to come off. -

Anything with flax seed in it. Learned that lesson over the last week. -

I'm down 10 BMI points. woooo!
thinathart replied to makemyownluck's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
that's AWESOME! Congrats! -
I was also sleeved in October and I'm losing hair like crazy. Some days are worse than others. My hair stylist said she can "barely" tell...I think she was being nice. I can really tell. Good news is, others on this board have said it slows down in months 7-9. I sure hope so!

If I can eat a 6" subway at 5 months, how much at a year? :(
thinathart replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure I could eat the fillings of a 6" sub (minus the bread) no problem. I'm 7 months out today. Meat/cheese/veggies all sit really well in my new stomach. I'm afraid to try bread (which is probably a good thing for me). It seems certain days I have more restriction than others...for no apparent reason. -
Does your sleeve have a name?
thinathart replied to Indigo1991's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I named my sleeved stomach "Fred". Some days Fred has an attitude. -
how is your face looks like after surgery?
thinathart replied to sallynew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 42 and preop I would still break out. Now that my skin isn't oily, I don't have that problem anymore. I'm actually happier with my skin now than before I had my surgery. Could the dark circles be a vitamin deficiency? I haven't had that issue yet and I'm going on 7 months out. -
