    What makes you smile?

Shopping in the normal sized section of stores. Getting sweaty at the gym, instead of being in pain and dreading it. Looking and feeling 100 times better than I did before surgery. Too many things to list!
  2. Yes, just my hubby and BFF for 35 yrs know. No family members, other friends, co-workers.
  3. I had my surgery on a Tuesday, and returned to my desk job full time the following Monday. I used 4 sick days. I felt fine. I probably could have returned on that Friday.

    When to start drinking alcohol?

I had a couple glasses of wine about 6 weeks out. I've had a couple more in the last 7 months. I try to avoid it because of the empty calories and it always causes me to stall.

    BIG FAT PEOPLE!

I didn't think I was a food addict before surgery. After surgery, I started dreaming of hitting buffets...I realized I am a food addict. Thankfully my sleeve keeps me in check. I agree with your original post...you don't get to the point of needing WLS by having a strong dislike of food. At least I didn't.
  6. I'm having a hard time seeing myself 90 lbs lighter, let alone at my goal. I hope my brain catches up with my body soon. It will be a joyous day!

Dating and letting them know you had surgery

Sorry, please disregard previous post. I didn't see this was in the man room...sorry.

Dating and letting them know you had surgery

At 8 months out, I think I could go on a normal date and do normal date things without him knowing. I'm married...so no dates. But my life is pretty much back to what a normal life should be now. I can tolerate most foods (in smaller portions) and a glass of wine without any problems.

    Buyers remorse anyone?

The first few days after surgery, I think most people have a little buyers remorse. I can tell you each day, week, month it gets better and better. I love my sleeve. The only regret I have as of today, is that I didn't have this done 10 years ago!

    Has anyonee?

Love them! And my sleeve likes them too!

the guilt is eating me alive

I wish I could fix things for you...or fix you up with a friend? When relationships end, it's easy to turn to food for comfort. You're going to need to use a whole new set of coping skills to help heal your broken heart. Please remember that there is great support on this board. Lots of us have had to mend a broken heart. It's no fun, but you can get through this. Focus on yourself and before you know it, gals will be knocking down your door.

    Suddenly Sad....

I'm 8 months out, and I still sometimes get a little sad when I see everyone consuming way more than they should. But when I put on my size 12 jeans, I'm totally over it. The further out you get, the less you'll miss it or feel sad. Someone once posted "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". Hang in there. Things will improve day by day.

    Dumping syndrome

At 8 months out, I wished I experienced dumping syndrome. I'm guessing once you are a little further out, you'll wish you had it too. Without it, it's easy to eat the things that got us to the point of needing surgery.

    Dont know what to do!

Even just 5-10 minutes of walking per day will help. As days go on, add a few minutes. Before you know it, you'll be walking 30 minutes and feeling GREAT for doing it. If you aren't eating dinner, be sure to at least drink a protein shake. Your body wants/needs that protein. I know they aren't the greatest, but like I said...before you know it you'll be dropping pounds and feeling AWESOME!

    NSV today, or maybe not....

Thanks for the funny story! Congrats on needing new undies!

    Dont know what to do!

I agree with JoiaRox. If you follow the plan, the weight will come off. It probably took me 4+ weeks before I was even close to getting in all the protein. Hydration is the most important factor the first few weeks out. Isopure makes a clear protein liquid (tastes HORRIBLE), but it has around 40g of protein in it.

Will I fit in the Airplane seat?

The last time I flew and didn't need one. I'm 5'7" and weighed 280 and still had room with my seat belt (probably a couple inches). I think you will be fine.

    Chicken and meat

I try to make sure my chicken/beef is really moist. Whether I need to add some low cal ranch dressing or steak sauce. If it's dry, it doesn't work for me. Now that i's grilling season, I pretty much have to use some type of condiment with grilled meat just to make it moist enough to tolerate (other wise it comes back up).

    My story made the news!

    Congrats! That's so cool!!!
  20. I'm 41 (pushing 42) and I needed to lose at least 100 lbs. I've lost 90 in 8 months. It's the best gift I EVER gave myself. I don't regret the surgery or the power it has given me to control what I eat. I have my life back.
  21. I told my DH and my BFF and that is it. I didn't tell any other friends or family, and especially any coworkers. It was a hard enough decision to come to, I didn't want/need anything but supportive comments. I'm 8 months out and I still keep it private. Weight always has been (and guessing always will be) a very private battle for me.

    1st post... anxious

You can do this! I tried to remind myself to think "big picture" on the pre-op liquid diet. The first few days were very hard, but after that, excitement for the surgery kicked in. Here I am...8 months later and 90 lbs lighter. Best. Decision. Ever.!

    Drain Tube

I had mine in for 48 hrs. It was the strangest feeling when they pulled it out. I was thankful I only had it 2 days. It didn't really hurt, but out of the lapro. scars, the tube left the worst one.

    Having second thoughts! Help!

I felt that exact same way. Getting the sleeve was by far, the best gift I have ever given myself. Best of luck to you!
  25. I was told to avoid it the first 6 months. I have found drinking alcohol does guarantee me a STALL...sometimes for up to a week. I try to avoid it now, not just because of the empty cals, but because of the frustrating stalls afterwards.
