At what point is it safe to swallow a pill capsule in full without breaking it open? I am 13 months out and have a sinus infection. I was given amoxicillin capsules to treat it. Think it's OK to take the whole thing?

Thank you so much! I feel better about it now. I can't get a hold of the office, so I turned to you all for help. Thanks again! -

Even the capsule ones with plastic? Just checking -
I am two months out and have recently started having horrible acid reflux, especially when I sleep. I have woken up at night occasionally because of it hurting so bad. Anyone else experience that? What do you take for it? Right now, I've just had to eat some tums to help it.

I would wait until you aren't sore anymore. You wouldn't want to aggravate any muscles. I made that mistake and was miserable for weeks. Couldn't even bend over to tie my shoes.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm just not sure what to take or how much. Or if should crush the pill or open it if It's a capsule. I think my doctor mentioned something about not taking controlled release medicines. Some of the stuff I have seen for acid reflux says "24 hour relief" so It's controlled release, right? I guess I'll just have to call him and ask more specific questions.

Today, I am 1 week out from surgery and feeling really good! I am down 22 pounds total. I lost 7 pounds pre op and have lost 15 pounds post op! Down from 258 to 236 this morning. I'm able to drink a lot easier now and getting in all of my liquids. But the Protein is tough. Everything tastes so bad! But I'm getting in about 40-45 grams now. First follow-up appointment is Thursday. Hoping that once I move to full liquids, it will be much easier to meet the 60-80. I still have a little bit of soreness around my largest incision. But it is tremendously better than it was just a few days ago. I can sleep on my right side somewhat, so I think that's pretty good! Still haven't "went to the bathroom" yet lol. So weird to me because pre op I was very regular... when did you all have your first "number 2"??? Thanks!

Thank you, tinka! I'm so worried about hair loss, because I have really good thick hair. I'm going to start the biotin as soon as I get out to the store to buy some!! -

MissKatie replied to MissKatie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone! I really appreciate all of the feedback! I contacted the nurse and she suggested going ahead and starting the milk of magnesia tonight. So, I just took a dose about thirty minutes ago. Hopefully, things will get to moving soon!! Lol -
1 Week Post Op - Question!

Wow! I thought I was doing bad for not getting my Protein in! Thanks, now I feel much better lol. Now that swallowing is easier (first couple days home was very tough) I don't have any problem getting those liquids down, but I also really like Water. Ok, 8/9 days makes me feel more normal. I can't remember if the doc told me I could do milk of magnesia or not yet, I'll call the office tomorrow and ask if I can do that. Thanks! -
Can I Swallow And Not Sip?
MissKatie replied to Lloydthumper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's really hard for me to swallow as well. Glad to hear you have to same experiences. Kinda hurts my belly and also really feel the pressure in my chest. So I'm just trying to sip as little as I can. But that makes drinking something small take a long time. -
Feeling so many different emotions right now … but mostly anxious to see what the future holds. But I am so ready for what is to come!! Yay! Everybody say a little prayer for me in the morning!
-
Yay!!! So glad to hear you are doing well! My surgery went well yesterday, too!! The hardest thing for me is getting in and out of bed. My tummy is very sore, but mostly it's my right side. Keep us posted!

Everything went very well! Anesthesiologist had a little trouble getting my iv's in at first, so I had to get stook with needles a few times. My arms are sore from that. As of right now, I don't feel the gas pain everyone talks about. I got up and walked two times yesterday evening and had no problems with walking. Hardest part of that is getting in and out of bed because my stomach is so sore. My throat hurts some from the tubes they put down your throat, but it's a bearable soreness. I'll continue to keep every one posted! And feel free to ask anything you think of!! Thanks for thinking of me!!

Thank all of you so much!!!! I will definitely keep you posted. And feel free to ask me anything about it. That's What I love about this site, everyone is so helpful!

I'm tomorrow the 18th, too! Feels so unreal right now …but yep, it's really about to happen for us!!! Good luck to you!

I just got the call about 45 minutes ago from my surgeon's office saying that my insurance had finally approved me!! YAY! I was denied at first for not being obese 5 years ago in 2008 (stupid). So my insurance company asked that I have a 2 hour glucose test and a letter from my doctor stating why I am taking Metformin. <I was diagnosed with insulin resistance about 8 years ago, and the insurance company only originally requested 5 years of medical records> So, after submitting all of that extra stuff to them yesterday (or maybe this morning is when they got it ?) I AM FINALLY APPROVED! :D

Found out today my surgery date is September 18th! Whoo hoo!!
-
Thank you so much! Yes, it is a major relief! I feel like such a weight has been taken off my shoulder. Now comes the next stress, waiting for surgery day! That's a different kind of anxious though!!
-
I really hope I get a date soon. I think with my work schedule, it may be around the middle of October before I can take off for it. Hoping that will work with the surgeon's office!
-
Thanks everyone!! I am so excited and relieved to finally know the answer! I don't have a date yet, they center didn't get the approval until late this afternoon. I will call my surgeon on Tuesday morning and set a date for my consultation. I guess I will find out a date then.
-
Oh, sorry I misread your post. How is everything going now at a week post op???
-
So glad you are doing well!! Is it normal to stay in the hospital for 5 days where you had your surgery?
-
Congrats!! How exciting! Who did you email at BCBS/ where did you find an email address? I thought about calling them tomorrow, but I may just email them tonight.
