Starving all the time !
Mags replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on August 23 2012. In the beginning I was hungry all the time and started taking Prilosec once a day, it definitely helped. I was feeling hungry right after I ate. Now 5 months later, I have to remind myself to eat. I started at 200lbs. I've lost 42 lbs so far. A little slower than normal but I'm not in a rush. -
Where Is Everyone From?

Jersey City, NJ -
I'm 5 months today post op, Yay!!!!! My scars took long to heal, and 2 of them. To make a long story short, I developed 2 small keloids, which is a raised scar..they have gotten smaller and are fading. I've been using MSM cream. I tried the Ambi going cream, but it made my scars very sensitive to touch and I had to stop using it. I've also tried silicone sheets, im just not consistent with it. I do think they work. Good luck!

Has anyone NOT experenced hair loss that is 6+ months out?
Mags replied to fgotr121's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I was that lucky. I'm a slow weight loser, 40lbs in 5 months. My hair is so thin now, I'm so scared. I take my vitamins, biotin and what not. I have very straight hair and for a bit was curling it up with a diffuser, then I noticed, all of the sudden how thin my hair was. I didn't see any bald spots, but I can see it growing again. I can't even believe I've lost this much hair. I just pray I don't lose anymore. -

Yes, they're nothing like a real step class, but you feel the muscles working.

Post Egd: Pain Under Chin?
Mags replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ohhh, I get what you're saying. When you're under full anesthesia you get intubated (tube down your throat). Sometimes its easy to cause trauma in the mouth because a metal blade is inserted to pull up your chin to visualize the vocal cords. That's probably what happened. -
Protein Reminds Me Of Baby Formula Yuck
Mags replied to jaygee65's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have to be honest and tell you that I can't sip on homemade protein shakes. I use a very thin straw. I know were not supposed to, but I do. It does make me gassy but nothing painful, yet again, I am 6 weeks post op already. -
Protein Reminds Me Of Baby Formula Yuck
Mags replied to jaygee65's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Not protein, but they have a but more vitamins than regular vitamins. I honestly feel great with them. I work 2 jobs, 2 kids and I'm a single mom and still have energy to workout when I get home after 12hrs. How do you make your protein shakes? I didn't like the taste of mine with milk. To me it tasted sweet. I started diluting my berry medly fruit mix and making into juice. I add half a banana, 1 scoop of protein mix, I open up and add a creatine powder pill (good for the muscles) and some goji berries and its delicious. It's actually a meal replacement coming up to about 250 calories. Gogi berries are healthy but just 1oz of them are 100 calories. -
Protein Reminds Me Of Baby Formula Yuck
Mags replied to jaygee65's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My surgeon told me it would be difficult to consume much protein the first 2 weeks post op. I take instead of regular vitamins, prenatal vitamins 4 a day and I take my B12. Felt great after day 4, I'm 6 weeks post op now and I feel great. In the early stages I had sudden periods of weekness as well but they went away. I couldn't tolerate the taste if isopure, protein shots or whatever else I tried. -

What is EGD? I'm fairly new to this so Idk all the terms used. -
I had my surgery 8/23/12 and I'm also losing weight slowly. I have lost 23.5lbs. I noticed that increasing my calories was what helped me lose those last 5lbs. Idk if I'm supposed to consume only 800 calories a day but doing research, I've found that you need to consume calories to burn calories and 800 calories puts your body in starvation mode and you store fat. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm also burning about 900 calories a day and I eat every 3 hours.

Yes, that's about it. Also you can have the broth of miso soup and wonton soup. Not too much variety with clear liquid diet. I had to do it for 2 weeks post op as well.

Anyone In The Food And Beverage Industry?
Mags replied to My350z06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can also try MIO, they're good and also zero calories. You'll start with sipping in the beginning, then you'll be able to take a bit more than just a sip. How soon after surgery do you plan on returning to work? -
High Protein "snack" Ideas.... Lets Start A List To Refer To When We Need Ideas
Mags replied to WLJourneyJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the Dannon Greek yogurt 2x protein plain. I add some fruits to it. I also make blended soft tofu with fruits I stock up on healthy cold cuts Carnations breakfast essentials Lean protein from Gnc is low in sugar 25g of protein -
I know you're happy about the change you're about to make, but I think that if you get yourself in a state of mind that you will be healthy aside from looking and feeling better you will feel different. You may not be able to have that wedding again, but like others said, renewing your vows sounds like a great idea. Don't worry about what you didn't do in the past, worry and concentrate on living and enjoying your new life to the fullest.

How many weeks out are you?
-
Lack of B12 does not cause hair loss. B12 works with your metabolism and nervous system. Hair loss is cause because of lack of protein. Even though I consume over 80g of protein a day, I still see hair come off here and there.

I drank a cup of black coffee with stevia about 4 days post op. It feelt really good in my tummy since I was barely eating. I had it black because my surgeon told me to withhold dairy products because I had IBS prior to surgery. I used to love my caramel ice coffee but since its syrup what they add and that's pure sugar I eliminated it from my life. The only thing I've noticed now is that if I drink my coffee too fast I may feel nauseated, but other than that no problem. Enjoy!

Gas and that thing they give you to drink after surgery were the worst part of the surgery. You will lose them. I'm losing weight slowly, which I was upset about, but I guess it is better this way.

I downloaded a free app "mapmywalk". It tracks miles walked, speed and calories burned as well as your route.
