  1. So I've been doing really well with protein intake (now that I've found something that I *like*) and overdid it on the protein yesterday. I wasn't really wanting food but had bit too much protein (smoothie and a shake)- I was at 129 instead of in the 80s. I feel fine but I'm wondering what, if any, are the side-effects of overdoing it on protein..
  2. Thanks. I KNOW I'm not getting enough protein in (it's rough!), so I thought that might have something to do with it.. but glad to know it's just a phase!
  3. Most doctors/surgeons have surgery built into a "package" (at least mine did). I had two days pre-op at a resort, two nights at the hospital, then two more days at the resort. I know a couple other surgeons I was considering at similar arrangements. The hospital I stayed at was actually MUCH nicer than the resort (and it was a nice resort). Treatment by the staff was better than at American hospitals, IMHO. If/when I need plastics done, I know exactly where I'm going!
  4. So I'm down roughly 30lbs from my pre-op weight and haven't budged since. I'm assuming this is normal as my body is figuring out that I'm not giving it the eleventy-billion calories I did before surgery and it's just playing catch-up. Am I right or should I be doing something different? I'm so far beyond frustrated right now I can't see straight.
  5. I don't want to jinx myself (I'm two weeks out tomorrow) but it's amazing. I had Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta and I can't say enough. Having had a lap band placed AND removed here in the states, I'm absolutely in shock at the lack of actual pain I'm feeling. When I had my previous surgeries my abdominal muscles hurt for nearly a month and a half- and right now, I have ZERO PAIN or discomfort. I feel like I did pre-surgery! I don't know if there's a different technique used in Mexico or what, but yeah.. amazing!

    Hunger Pains Or Not?

I am SO relieved to hear I'm not the only one! I've taken to doing two things when my stomach starts griping at me: drink cold water or if I'm super hungry, protein shake. The protein shake usually knocks the hunger out for a few hours.. the cold water just calms it down for a few minutes, LOL!
  9. I'm a week and a half out and these hunger pains will not quit! I'm on full liquids but it's almost as if ten minutes after I finish a protein shake my stomach is growling again! I thought this wasn't supposed to happen! My stomach didn't growl THIS much BEFORE surgery.. wtf?!!
  10. Thanks. I'm headed to the grocery in a bit and am making a list of stuff to pick up. I'll def. add carnation to the list!
  11. I never thought I wouldn't be able to finish an Atkins shake. Seriously. But I can't. I know it's par for the course and over the next few days my stomach will acclimate, etc., but if I can't finish a protein shake, I'm worried I won't get enough protein overall. And for the record, I do have a box of assorted nectar and unjury packs, but I thought I'd start off with an atkins shake this morning to see how it went.. ugh!
  12. So I'm 6 days post-op (last day of clears, WOO HOO!) and having some serious cravings. I know it's mostly all psychological... but MAN can we stop with all the food commercials? I could seriously kill some pizza right now! Anyone have any kind of "replacement" that could kinda SEEM like pizza while I'm still on creamys/etc.?
  13. Ooookay. I was a bit worried- glad to hear that it's because I'm healing well! Thanks a ton guys!
  14. So, as the topic suggests, I'm five days post-op and wondering about restriction.. the first day was rough, i could barely drink 1/10 bottle of water, and of course, as the days went by it got better... and today I can nearly chug. Is this normal? I'm not forcefully chugging or gulping water, but I'm surprised at how I can go from barely a teaspoon to killing 1.5 liters of water in about 2 hours. Is this normal? Should I be worried?
