Really Discouraged
Alaina Sampica Miller replied to MISSMEWITHIT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well thats what we are here for. I am post op of 17 days.. and have lost about 16lbs... to let you know my mom had a bypass about 11 years ago. and sometimes you will go at a standstill, but its okay. like the other comment just think of where you will be in a year if you are losing 40lbs in less thsn 2 months.. that would be over 200 lbs in a year... if you look at it that way... thats crazy fast. good luck -
More Protein, Less Carbs
Alaina Sampica Miller replied to nalasmom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
eggs are high in protei, not a lot of carbs and goes down pretty easy after the sleeve. also try the lowcarb high protein slimfast.. and to boost up the taste and protein add some low sugar peanut butter.. there are also things that are very low carb wraps called flat outs.. they are pretty good.. do a chicken salad...add some chopped almonds for extra protein. there is also protein powder, i still have not found one that i like but i know theres a ton more out there -
Worried About Stretching: Is It Easy Or Hard To Do?
Alaina Sampica Miller replied to WLJourneyJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest slowing down when you eats. I am 2 weeks post op and am on soft foods. But If i forget that I had surgery and eat too fast.. its not pretty. and everyone always tells you even if you had not had surgery eat slow because it takes time for you stomach to feel the effect of being full. so by the time ur stomach feels full you have put more than its capacity into it. I feel your pain too. I am not really eating very much food right now. I think I am eating too fast. I think its the hardest part changing how you eat the food you eat and chew because u have done it for so long. -

Actually that sounds about right. my surgeon says about a pound a day. so you are 49 days post op and 40lbs down. that sounds about right. I know we expect it to come off so fast, but it will work out in the end eating right and working out will pay off in the end. just remember how far you have come. keep your head up and dont give up. I know that everyone is different, but i would go by what ur nutirtionist says, they are supposed to know what they are talking about. I would talk to him or her next visit. -

I def couldnt have gone back to work that fast. I am stil out actually I had surgery on the 27th. I am a home health aide which requires quite a bit of work and patient care. im not ready yet... and maybe i just wanna stay home with my 4 year old a little longer. but no really i am still sore, mostly just in one spot. It will be easier for sure being at work for consuming less calories. not that i am consuming a lot now. i had some baby food fruit this am, bananas, apples, pears mix it was friggen delicious! lol -
Cigna Coverage - Borrowing Trouble
Alaina Sampica Miller replied to Bufflehead's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have cigna, and just had surgery. It required 6 months of consecutive monthly visits by a bariatric doc. need a letter from your primary care physical stating that you are medically clear for your surgery and that they support it. you also need to make sure you have your mental health evaluation within the 6 months of the surgery. Also the letter from you doc make sure its a DOCTOR not a physical assistant, thats where i ran into a lil problem. they didnt really have anything on me from the past years, but that didnt matter in my case. also after my paperwork was submitted they were very very very fast with approving my surgery. I thought cigna was amazing to deal with. I would call again and again. I called very often. So the info that I know i needed was 6 month consecutive visits supervised.. a letter from physical starting you are cleared for surgery mental health eval and thats about it if i remeber anything else I will let you know, and again i JUST had my surgery less than 2 week s ago -

Slim fast has low carb, high protein drinks. I dont think they come in the mix, so just the premade drinks. I think there is vanilla and chocolate, not sure about strawberry, but they have 20g of protein. I think it would be a good purchase. I bought a few different kinds of protein powder and I would rather not eat than eat all my food with that crap in it. YUCK! GOOD LUCK, and you can purchase that online, walmart or in walmart stores. -
Surgery Tomorrow!
Alaina Sampica Miller replied to aug62012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a little over a week post op. So far so good. the stomach pains associated with just the incisions is getting so much better. Def way easier than having a c section. Still working on the food thing. I need to learn how to drink again. I have always been one to kind of gulp my drinks. I def recommend not straying off the liquid diet after surgery. Drink as much as you can. And also try to get off the pain meds as soon as possible. GOOD LUCK. i cannot wait to be my skinny self.
