I thought I would get a jumpstart on smoothing out my soon-to-collapse backside. What are you doing to celebrate the future you?

I have a tattoo design that I am planning on getting on my right ankle once I reach goal. It's the classic "cherry" motif, but the cherries are balls of yarn and between the leaves at the top of the stem is a lit fuse. So, cherrybombknits

I Just Want To Get Better
cherrybombknits replied to Vixkey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad to hear that. I had my first drain for almost three weeks. I told the sugeon if he didn't take it out I would cry and make him feel like a schmuck. -

Vixkey, how are you doing now? Any updates? -
I've found relief with ginger chews, but they're essentially ginger/sugar clumps. I'm just getting used to the idea of sugar-free, thanks for the peppermint tip!

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
cherrybombknits replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
*I've always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, but couldn't stand the thought of myself in a wetsuit (manatee anyone?). *To have my grandmother quit sending me diet books and clothed that are too small every year for Christmas. *To not have wear "bloomers" under my dresses to protect my thighs. *Knit a sweater with only one pack of yarn instead of two. * To be able to paint my own toenails. ETA: *To not be the one slowing everyone else down on hikes/trips/other adventures because I get so tired. -

I think it is terrible how secretive we all are. When I had my mastectomy no one was telling me not to do it or that I was "taking the easy way". WLS can be just as life-saving, why don't we all have the same support network? -
Coming Out...
cherrybombknits replied to Lhollingsworth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just told my boss I was having surgery, didn't go into what type. I work from home most of the time, so other than my surgery date (taking vacation) I will be recovering on the clock. Gustavo, just playing devil's advocate here, but HR is legally obligated to keep your confidential information confidential. Supportive or not, she may not be able to discuss it. Or she's a poo... I don't know why I'm so reticent about this momentous decision. This is surgery #6 for me and I don't want to deal with the drama maybe. -
5 Days Post Op But,,
cherrybombknits replied to bthomas08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my hysterectomy I got really achy a few days out. It actually takes a while for all the drugs to get out of your system and for your body to realize the trauma it just went through. If you are concerned by all means call your doctor, but this should pass. Gentle internet hugs! ETA: Oh, and for goodness sakes don't slack on your breathing exercises. It is easy to forget, but I ended up in the emergency room just because I was too much of a baby to take a deep breath. It will be uncomfortable but it's totally worth the effort. -
Anybody Else A Little Scared Or Worried
cherrybombknits replied to Natava's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad to know it is not just me. This is not my first surgery (breast cancer survivor, yay me) but this is the first one I've wanted to keep to myself. I've told my husband, sister, and grandmother and that's it. I'm really afraid of being judged, like my 15 years of dieting haven't been enough. At the same time it would be helpful for me and my hubby to have a wider support network. I think being worried is normal, it IS surgery, it's the shame that is really killing me. This forum has been such a blessing! -

I have a pre-op appointment in about a month and surgery scheduled in about a month and a half. Having this glimmer of hope that something might finally work I've been eating better and doing more walking. I have been so excited about the prospect of finally losing the weight effectively that I've lost almost 10 lbs in the last six weeks. Will losing too much weight pre-op jeopardize my insurance approval (BCBS)? I don't want to gain weight just for the sake of gaining weight, but I know I won't be able to keep it off without the procedure.

I Just Want To Get Better

I've had two previous surgeries with drains, and the drains were the most painful part of post-op. You will feel so much more human once the drains come out, promise! -
