My dietician even suggested I try the protein bullets/shots to get more protein in. When I asked about them having more collagen protein than whey she was, surprised!!! Then she said, that's not good, you need the whey proteins. I can be sarcastic as hell, but, I just looked at her and smiled! I, truly, have very little confidence in her. I always felt something was off with her, but, did not want to judge her unfairly. Thank God I found this site! I'll be turning to the dieticians at my job for help from now on! Oh yeah, made my own cafe mocha progtein shake this morning with decaf coffee, OMG!!!!!!! Delish!!!

10 Days Post Op Not Feeling Well
chilihot59 replied to gnvpur's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Praying all turns out well for you!!! Stay strong! -
It happened yesterday as I was leaving the house, my 7 yr old granddaughter said, "Wow Nana! You're getting skinny!". I stopped dead in my tracks and was speechless. I, think I went into shock! Well, I finally said thank you, with a smile. I confess, I wanted to cry! Although, my clothes are getting really loose and I've seen some physical changes, some part of me is not seeing or accepting! But, babygirl's compliment broke through and hit home! Yeah me!!! So glad, I started taking care of me and got my sleeve!!! This is only the beginning:)

Poll Please: Most Tolerable Bang For Your Buck Protein Powder
chilihot59 replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tolerated the Unjury vanilla, which wasn't bad. They also have unflavored which i added different flavored sugar free syrups and sugar free pudding mix to. They have sample packs you can order. I, also liked the Optimum vanilla ice cream powder from GNC. Mixed with 8 oz of skim milk it's 32g of protein. Both products are very low carbs. I tried the Isopure clear drinks, well, one bottle and just about puked! I, took the other three bottles back to GNC for a refund. But, try and get samples, ask for samples because our taste buds seem to have a mind of their own post op!!! Hope this helps. -
Non Sleeve Victory. It could be from fitting into that dress that's been hanging in your closet for some years to comfortably fitting into a booth @ a restaurant.

Family Friendly Recipes

"The world according to eggface", the bariatric foodie, both sites have family friendly recipes... -
That's wonderful!!!

Did you try some sugar free popsicles? That might help, too! Don't worry too much about the protein shakes now, get your fluids in. Try putting Crystal Light or Mio, any sugar free flavor in your water, nothing red. Herbal teas, broth, jello-no red, Gatorade G2 helped me. Just get the fluids in as best you can. Call your Dr.'s office if things don't get better!! Take Care:)

U can get the 1 oz plastic med cups from any pharmacy. The hospital will also give u a few to bring home. As for small food containers, I got mine at the supermarket. Dr. Hoffman doesn't want you driving for 10 days. Oh yeah, no red jello or crystal light/drink mix!

Tomorrow Is The Big Day! Oh Dark Thirty In The Morning...

Congrats! Glad to hear your doing okay:) -
Here's some pre-op advice: Have a few comfy sundresses/etc postop. Do have camis, sports bra to wear due to the placement of your incisions. Get some really small (1oz, 2-3oz, 4oz) food containers, it will help cut down on wasted food. Start looking for pureed/mushy recipes now. Get samples of protein powders, etc. Now! Don't purchase large amounts of anything right now. Do have the fluid items ready once you come home. Your fluids will be the most important thing when you get home. I had a cooler in my room to keep a variety of beverages cold. Remember, your taste buds can change on you post op, don't be surprised. Have some Crystal Light/Mio for your water, just in case plain water isn't agreeing with you. Fluids, fluids, and more fluids!!! Above all, don't compare your recovery to anyone else's! The first few days/week might be rough or could be smooth sailing! If you have any questions, come here and ask. No question is silly or stupid, and has probably been asked and answered! Do a search!!! That's all I can think of for now. Pre-oper's you'll do fine! Any questions, you've got a big community here of support.

Coffee Love Affair
chilihot59 replied to chilihot59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far, coffee is the first thing that has changed post sleeve! On that note, reese peanut butter cups, butter peacan ice cream, cheesecake, cadbury milk chocolate bars, etc., they had better change too, into the "just plain nasty" bin!!! Lol!!! -
Hi guys! I, was sleeved 7/30 by Dr. Hoffman! Doing well and and down 28lbs, as of a week ago. That's total pre & post op.

Congrats! You look great!!!

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
chilihot59 replied to chilihot59's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi bdiddy13, I, was sleeved by Dr. Hoffman @ BGH on 7/30. Other than walking, he has not cleared me to workout. Tomorrow I start pureed and I pray all goes well! How are you coming along? Do you already belong to a gym? I've been getting info on the Y, more family orientated. Also, I have a friend who is coming up on her year anniversary who belongs to the Y. But, I'm still exploring my options and what my insurance covers. -

My sign- Aries. My physical recovery- 10. My emotional state- 7, I feel like I'm in mourning some days, today is a good day! I'm only 2 wks post op and just began pureed. So far, so good. I'm still losing and I only weigh when I go to clinic on that scale. I'll know the numbers next week.

I, agree with Jar312! There will and must be changes that we'll face during this new journey in our life! I was told to be prepared for friends, co-workers, and even family that will treat me differently. For those that think we took the easy way out, I say, " Go kick rocks barefoot, you idiots"!!!!
