I have always been a "chunky girl". I really packed on the weight following the birth of my 2nd child, then the 3rd really didn't help! I had dieted for years. Falling into all of the gimmicks. From diet pills, exercise machines, shakes, smelling pens, fasts, etc. I was at my wits end. Then I came across the lapband and it seemed like it was what I had been looking for. The tool that I needed to help me. My highest weight was 218. I had the band placed and have been nothing but completely pleased! I now fluctuate from 150-155 (because I still love to snack) but I do it far less than I used to! I really do believe that the band saved my life. I was out of control and as I began to gain control of my weight, I also gained control of my life. I have been making little changes here and there that have made me a much happier person! I continue to want to lose a little more, but now I focus more on the pant size than the weight. I now fluctuate from a 10-12 and would like to get into an 8! :-)
Update: Over the last few years had a terrible time with the band. excessive GERD, vomiting daily, and even nightly in my sleep. Had fill removed from the band which helped with the GERD, but oh boy did the weight come back quickly! Started looking into revision to sleeve and decided that was what i wanted to do. At preop visit my weight was exactly the same as it was when I had the band placed. I had surgery 4 days ago and am feeling pretty good, just a bit sore from the staples. Still a bit slow to get around, but I'm managing. Taking minimal pain meds and am in the liquid stage now. Hoping this will do all that i had hoped the band would do, without all of the complications. Plus, no foreign object in my body, besides the staples.
