I wore a bra the next day. Underwire to hold up the girls, of course.

yeah, I told my doctor that I was "starting to get REALLY hungry" and he just said "good, that's great!". What the hell does that mean? :cry LOL!

Hi everyone. I am just over 3 weeks out and had my first followup today. I was surprised by my doctor approaching me with a syringe saying "ok, well, ready for your 1st fill". AGHHHH! NO, Not really. I was not ready! I expected it to be a few more weeks, just by reading the posts that most people are 4-6 weeks out before their 1st fill. I was scared to death! It wasn't nearly as bad as I had psyched myself out to think that it would be. The experience was a bit wierd, and I hope that this helps with my hunger, it's been bad lately. I got 2.8cc's placed into my 4cc band. Now I'm on liquids again for 2 days, then 2 days of mushies, then I can try regular foods. Anyone else have a fill yet? How did it go?

My doctor gave me a seasick-like patch behind my ear a few hours before surgery, I had no nausea at all and I usually get violently ill from the anesthesia. It worked wonders! He had me keep it on for 3 days to avoid any nausea after the fact. You may want to call and ask them about it, it may help you. Also, I was a little sore after surgery and for a few days after, never took anything stronger than liquid tylenol on the 2nd day. The gas pain kicked my butt a little, I had pain in the back of my shoulders and under my ribs in front. But, I walked around a bit like people on the threads suggested, and it really helped alot- so did the heating pad. Good luck!

cfred, I feel the same way! I am 20 PO and am HUNGRY. I am also having a really hard time fighting tempations! I am trying to drink, drink, drink when I'm tempted to eat, but it's getting really hard. Since starting mushies, I too, feel like I could eat nearly anything.

He told me to just cover it with gauze, and to let it drain out. Not to worry. If it was not yellow, thick, green or smell nasty, it most likely was not infected. I was to watch it and if it got worse or bloody, to let him know. I was given an antibiotic, just in case. As luck would have it, it stopped later in the day after my appointment.

ontheway, I totally hear ya! I could open a clothing store with the stuff in my garage. I have boxes lined up labeled from size 9 to 22. I've saved it over the years thinking that "one of these days I'll be able to get into them". Yeah, now that I think about it, I'm sure most of it would not be in style, considering they range from 1989-present. LOL!

Did anyone else have glue to close your incisions? I did. I have 4 incisions, including my port scar. I have only had one incision lose the glue. I will be 2 weeks out tomorrow. I wash them carefully with soap when in the shower, but they only seem to be getting sticky & tacky, not drying up and falling off- like I expected. Just wondering if anyone else had glue and how long it took for it to fall off. They are starting to itch and driving me nuts!

Yes, I will. My Dr also says that with weight loss it will be less noticeable too, since you naturally have a little pudge around the belly button even when thin. Sounded good to me.

marcinharrr, I did the same thing. I was set to have surgery on 3/1, and chickened out 2 days before. I thought, and re-thought about it and finally decided to go for it a few weeks ago. I asked my dr to work fast before I chickened out again. I knew this was what I needed and I had to just do it. I was scheduled on a Thursday to be banded the following Tuesday. That Monday I began to freak out again. I talked with friends and co-workers about the pros and cons, as well as kept reading these threads, and worked over my fears. I needed this, and I was going to do it. I did, and now I am so glad that I did. I may finally be on the right track to getting my life back and I am so glad.<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_474571", true); </SCRIPT>

Nurselaureli, My bellybutton was really bruised too, that's where they placed my port. Tuesday I will be 2 weeks out, and it's almost gone now. I also had a really nasty bruise on my hand from my IV, that looked worse than my belly. But, that too is nearly gone.

when did you start losing after surgery?
Tamjpjb replied to abominableglib's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Syrah, That sounds like absolutely perfect advice. I have been trying to avoid the scale too. I keep having people come up to me at work and ask how much I've lost, have I weighed myself, etc. I just keep saying as you did, I don't want to know until the dr weighs me. I know I am still swollen in my belly, so that makes me want to stay away as well, I don't want to get discouraged already! -
OK, I have to admit, today I had my first lesson in trying to sneak a food that I am NOT ready for. I have been really good, sticking to the liquid diet to a "t". But, I made sweedish meatballs over pasta last night for my husband and kids. After work today I came home and had this overwhelming temptation to eat a meatball. I thought if I nibbled at it and chewed it all to hell, that I would be ok. NOT! Within 2 minutes of my last nibble, I could tell it wasn't gonna go down. I could feel it making it's way back up. I barely made it to the bathroom.....and there went that meatball. Guess that's what I get! In a wierd way, it was a bit exciting to know that the band would work that well. That it would take over if I lost my willpower. Form now on I am sticking with my written diet and only introducing what is on the list as instructed! Tami

Update: I saw my Dr this morning. WASaBubble Butt, you were right... he said it was just melting fat. He told me to leave it alone as much as possible. Let it drain , cover with gause pad if needed and also gave me an antibiotic just in case. He said it didn't look infected, but better to catch it before hand, then too late. I feel better now. But, I am still so swollen in my belly. He told me I could use a compression band around my waist to ease the swelling down. Thanks to all of you who replied, I appreciate it! Tam

Tamjpjb replied to abominableglib's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I am totally swollen. I joked with my husband because I look about 5 months pregnant! I have this little ball in the middle of my tummy. Looks like it'd be a boy! LOL -
I'm a California girl, but a country girl at heart! My favorite right now is Billy Currington's "good directions". And of course anything by Keith Urban. My 7 year old daughter and I will be going to see him in LA next month! Can't wait!

The Weight Loss Cure "They" Don?t Want You to Know About
Tamjpjb replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I almost fell for it, until I did a little research on the web. I have always been a sucker for all that crap! Books, pills, patches, smell pens, exercise gadgets and gizmos. I'm so ashamed. I probably could've paid cash for the surgery with all the money I've wasted on that crap in the past 15 years. They make a fortune off of us at our weakest point and it's horrible. They shouldn't be able to get away with it, but they do. It's really sad. -
Thank you so much for the quick reply. I started to panic! I'll watch it and call my dr tomorrow morning.

I was wondering the same thing. I had my band placed about a week ago, and I am supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks before I can start mushies. I have been drinking water and crystal light, my 3 slimfasts per day for my 60gr of protein, and a few sips of broth or tomato soup here and there. Is that my problem? should I cut out the tomato soup? Maybe too much sodium? I haven't dropped anything either. Guess I thought I'd see the scale move a little bit. Anyone else having a really hard time getting down the protein and all the water? I feel so stuffed, like I can barely get it all in. -
Here's one more Happy Mother's Day to you all out there! Also wishing another GOOD LUCK & CONGRATULATIONS to all of you being banded tomorrow. Take care.

Hi Pam, I'm in Riverside.

I usually come out of anesthesia completely, horribly nauseated! I discussed this with my anesthesiologist before hand, and they gave me a sea sickness patch behind my ear. It worked! I was shocked. I was not nauseated at all. They told me to leave it on for 3 days to prevent any nausea. I'm gonna make sure to have one of these around if I ever have surgery again.

I was banded on 5/8, and I've been wearing elastic waisted pants at home and loose tops. Luckily, I work in the medical field and can wear scrubs- feels just like I'm in my pajamas! My main problem now seems to be that one of my incisions is where the bottom of my bra hits. It tends to rub against it. I got lucky and my doctor used glue instead of stitches or staples, but it still irritates. And the gas......OMG! It's been horrible! walking and heating pad only help for a little while, then it comes back FULL FORCE! Any suggestions? Tami

How long to return to work?
Tamjpjb replied to SuperKawaii's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SuperKawaii, MY name is Tami. I was banded on Tuesday 5/8, and went back to work on Friday 5/11 for a half day. My tummy area wasn't too bad, a little sore. What was hard for me was the gas pains. They have been really strong in my breastbone area and across my shoulderblades. I will be bringing my heating pad with me next week, that seems to help alot! Tami
