Anyone know about Dr. Oliak in Orange, Ca?
Tamjpjb replied to angelface's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Angelface, I know of Dr Oliak. I went to a couple of meetings with his group prior to having my surgery. I ended up going with Dr Lui (also in orange) because he was able to get insurance approval quicker. Dr Oliak is one one of his associates, though and I've only heard good things about him. When I researched my doctor originally, I went to the website "healthgrades.com" and ordered a report. It helped me to feel comfortable with my decision to use the doctor that I chose and I have not had any regrets. You may want to check it out. -
Anyone have a thigh lift?
Tamjpjb replied to juliegeraci's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Julie, I haven't had a thigh lift, but WANT one very much! I did have a tummy tuck with lipo of the outer thighs. I was supposed to have the thigh lift too, but I wasn't ablet o have it all done at once. I will have to have the lift at a later time. I was told about $6,000 for the lift. I am very happy with the results of the TT, though. I hope you get more responses, and I'd love to see some pics if anyone has any. -
Sorry to bring up the subject, but anyone else having trouble with constipation. I'm not sure if it's because I don't eat as much as I used to or what. But I seem to have less frequent bowel movements. Luckily these are helped out by TOM. Is this just the way it's going to be?? :confused2:

tenten, Banding has been very good for me. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday. I could've went back earlier, but my boss insisted I take the rest of the week off. I was a little sore for a couple of days but didn't even take any pain meds. What I loved was that I was NOT hungry at all, which made the liquids a piece of cake- pardon the pun! I think that I am a somewhat slow loser, 48 lbs as of last Friday. But, I have not been diligent with exercise. I know I could be doing better. I started out at 218, and with my 5'0" height, I was a mess! Now I'm at 170- which I have not seen in over 14 years! I needed this tool to help me and it surely has. I am so glad that I chose to have this done.

Tamjpjb replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OK, I've been reluctant to take pictures over the past 10 or so years, let alone post them on the internet. But, here goes! The first was taken May of 2007- about 1 month post-op, the other was taken this Thanksgiving.- about 6 months post-op and down 42 lbs. Tami -

Has your sex life changed since getting the band?
Tamjpjb replied to 000000000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
argon, NO..... me too! I don't know why, but mine is worse. I have totally lost my desire! It's frustrating! -
I finally had my appt today and had my dr take a little bit more out. I am now at 1.5cc in a 4cc band. We are hoping that this will allow me to get more food down vs. pbing nearly every meal. I just hope that I don't start to gain. I made my next appt for 2 weeks from now, just in case. If I notice I'm eating like a pig and/or gaining.......Im going back!

I'm not sure what the heck is wrong with me......but my drive has taken a nose dive since I got the band! WTH! -
Rachel & lauraj23, I am so glad that you posted! I am the same way, actually more like you lauraj23. I have my moments though, seems like I have problems daily and then miraculously one day I feel like I can eat anything and everything......and keep it down. Those days scare the hell out of me, because I feel like oh my gosh, I need more of a fill! Then the next day it catches up with me and I feel like I'd better not get anymore fill or I could ruin the band! I have an appointment on Thursday and will see what the Dr says.

Diane, Be careful if you are trying to get yourself up. I did that because I felt bad waking my husband all of the time, and ended up with a hernia. Let them help you- that's why they are there. Take care. -

Diane, I am also glad to hear that you are doing so well. I was like your neighbor- and don't even remember anything the first 3 days after my surgery. I'm sure the pain pump helps. Take care of yourself and keep keep up with the walking around. At least 100 steps per hour, was what I was told, to prevent blood clots. Keep us posted on your progress. Congratulations. I'm so happy for you! -

I hope all goes well. You are gonna love your results. I did! My Dr was even so impressed, I became a "poster child" on his website! I was more sore from the lipo than the TT itself. -

Gh0st- I had a tt myself. My drains were in for 3 weeks because my dr didn't want me to go back to work early. He knew I wouldn't with the drains, but if they were out I would, otherwise he would have removed them at 2 wks. It depends on how much you are draining. I can't remember how long after that when I was told I could resume walking for exercise, but.... I remember that I resumed "other activities" within a week (strategically & and; carefully!) lol! I also went down about 2-3 sizes, but I was swollen for quite a while- I had alot of hip & and; thigh lipo as well, which is where I swelled the most. The TT was actually a piece of cake, compared to the lipo. Tami -
I'm with ya, Wenjea! Let's do this! :clap2: Tami

I've hit a plateau this month too. I thought it was due to the very-slight unfil that I had last month, but I am still tight at times. My weight hasn't changed since then. Guess the lower we get in weight, the slower it will come off. I still want to lose at least another 40 lbs! Guess I better step up my exercise, huh.

Thank you all for your kind words. I really appreciate it.

Hey guys- I need a little bit of sense talked into me. I am pretty sure that I need to have a slight unfil, but my vanity is getting in the way of my senses. I had my 3rd fill about a month ago. I knew within the first week that I was way too tight. I could not keep anything down. I could barely even get a protein drink down- it was too thick. I have managed to stick to liquids and thin mushies. I have tried to introduce solids, and sometimes I can get them down, but sometimes I just can't. I know that I am not eating enough and that I should get some fill removed, but I can't bring myself to get it out. For the first time in years I am finally seeing my weight drop and I am afraid that if I unfil any amount that the loss will stop. I have convinced myself that vomiting once in a while is better than not losing weight or even worse- gaining. I am supposed to go back on the 16th. Anyone else out there having problems with too much of a fill?

Hi everyone. I just found this thread and have not been able to tear myself away until getting to the last post. I am 36, married 17 years, 3 kids (7, 13, 16). I wanted to know if anyone has noticed a decrease in their drive since the surgery? I have no desire anymore and I'm not sure why. When I'm not around my H I miss him and want to be intimate and tell myself that I'm just gonna go for it. Then when I get the chance, I just back out. It's almost like I'm more self conscious now than I was before the surgery. I don't get it. We do work pretty much opposite hours, he's always on call with no set schedule. He works for the railroad and is only home about every other day or two. We didn't have a problem before, but after doing it nearly every night that he was home, I got tired and just wanted to sleep. I was irritated and tired and made the mistake of saying "Do we have to do it EVERY night that you are home!" OOPS! I guess that really hurt his feelings and now he wont even try to initiate. I feel bad, but in a way it's a relief. I just don't have the desire and don't want to have to reject him. I want to get "back into the swing of things" but I just am not sure how to boost my desire. Any suggestions? Tami

I am 4 weeks out and have no sex drive right now. Not sure why, but I do feel bad for my husband. It's weird, I actually feel more self conscious now than I did before the surgery. Tami

A little off the previous subject, but ... has anyone else noticed a change in sex drive since the surgery? I feel horrible for my husband, but I have no interest in sex. I'm not sure why, but I have noticed the drop in interest has been since the surgery. I rarely had this problem in the past, but I seem even more self-conscious than I did before. Anyone else?? or is it just me?
