Hiatal Hernia Questions
TracyLynn replied to TracyLynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, mine was not found on the stomach scope, I found out about it after I woke up. My sergeon had told me that if I had one, they can sometimes go without causing problems for a long time, but since he was already going to be there, he would just take care of it. -
Hey All, I just have a few questions, I am pre-op and I would like to learn as much as I can. I have been looking around this site a lot, and there is great information. Here are my questions... Thanks so much! - I know everyone is different, but I worry about saggy skin. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or lessen the sag? - If you are only drinking liquids in the beginning, do you still poop? (Maybe a dumb question, but I have never thought of it before) - I am really scared about hair loss, I really like my hair… is there anything I can do to prevent or lessen it, maybe different Vitamins or shampoos? - My tentative surgery date is August 14th, assuming all pre-tests go well. Is it normal that I have not been put on an official diet yet? I noticed a lot of people say there were on a Protein diet or liquid diet. I am still over a week out from surgery, but I have been amping up my protein intake just in case. - I love whiskey and can drink a lot, will that change for me? Does anyones tastes change?
-
I am on a high protein, low fat and low carb diet for 1 week before surgery.

jasmineb, I too am super nervous, but mine is an excited nervous. I have been sleeping less and less for the last few days, I know sleep is good, I just can't help it, too excited. I keep shaking my legs and feel like I am jumping out of my skin waiting for this surgery. Good luck to you!
-
Awesome! I am having mine this Tuesday. As the days approach, I am more and more nervous, but very excited. Good luck to you!

It is different for everyone, but my pre-op diet is high protein, low fat and low carb foods and drinks a week before surgery.

I have not had it, however I was warned I could get it from the Advair inhalor I was on, well they said any oral steroid inhalor. Do not know if this helps.

I got my wantan wrappers and I made the lasagna cupcakes on the link below. They were very good. I look forward to making more food with them. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/30684-lasagna-cupcakes/

Is The Band That Bad?
TracyLynn replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was going to get the band, actually put down a $1,500 non refundable deposit. But then I learned about the sleeve, the weight loss success is better, there is less maintenance and the complications are fewer. food can get stuck with the band and then for those of us who have to pay cash, you have to get the band unfilled and refilled. I had so many appointments scheduled when I was planning on the band. The sleeve is non reversable, but who would want to reverse it? It is easier to cheat with the band too, as if you do not get it filled or it is not full enough, you can eat like normal. My biggest issue with the band was that my stomach could envelope the band and it was have to be removed from the inside of my stomach. -
When To Weigh, Measure And How To...?
TracyLynn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know to weigh myself in the morning, but how often should I get on the scale? What about measuring? Basically I know this is done with the flexible tape measurer, but where do I put it to take measurements and how often should I do this? I plan on taking pictures of my progress too. How often should someone take pictures? I want to do all of these things to keep myself on track, and to remember that I don't want to go back, but I don't want to do these things too often and discourage myself. Any ideas? Anything working well for you? Anything else I missed? On a side note, I have always heard that muscle weighs more than fat, is that true? If so, are measurements and how I feel more important than actual weight? Thanks so much! -
Worried About Egd
TracyLynn replied to Elinjacksmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having surgery on Tuesday the 14th, but I had to have the EGD and 'pass' before I could have surgery. The place I went did not use anesthesia, they used a sedative instead. The doctor walked in and said, hi remember me, I said yes then asked him if he just gave me the sedative, he said yep, next thing I knew I would being wheeled back to the recovery area. It was about 5-10 min long. I felt fine afterward, just really thursty. I was scared too. Good luck! -
When To Weigh, Measure And How To...?
TracyLynn replied to TracyLynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all. Now I know where to measure. I too can see myself becoming obsessed with the numbers and pounds, so I will figure out specific days/dates to measure and weigh. -

Disappointed In Myself
TracyLynn replied to aldmb2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had my surgery yet, but I know I am on a strict diet of Clear Liquids for a week or two, liquids for another week or two, mushy food like baby food for two or three weeks, then cooked veges fish and chicken for a few weeks, then I can start incorporating real food after 3 months. I know everyone is different and different doctors do different things, so maybe try to mix things up with your exersize routine or the foods you eat. But for me, I have been gaining up and up for a while now, so any pound down is a thing to be proud of. Good luck! -

I think that would be great! It is always better to go online to see new feelings and thoughts about the sleeve. -
Definitely Think This Is Doable..
TracyLynn replied to angelofmercy36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is on the 14th and I am ready too! I think a positive outlook on this is what we all need. I like that you said you feel like you get to start again, that explains it perfectly. Good luck to you! -
More Crazy Vsg Questions....
TracyLynn replied to DeterminedGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great questions. I am glad to know the answers too. I am having surgery on Tuesday. I too have only felt full a handfull of times. I feel like I am always hungry. It may be psychological, but my stomach can hold it all, so I am not sure. -

You have come too far to back out now. I have surgery in a week and I am so excited. I know it will be a hard at times, but there are so many positives, it would be a shame not to try. -
A Few Questions And Some Advise Needed...
TracyLynn replied to TracyLynn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks all! I went to see the doctor yesterday. I had 7 pre-op appts! He started me on a high protien low fat/calories diet. My surgery is scheduled for the 14th, next Tuesday. A week from today! And my stomach scope is tomorrow. I really appreciate everyone with all the help I have been getting on this site. Good luck to us all! -
I made these yesterday, they are SO GOOD!!!! Thanks for sharing.
-
I made these last night, pretty easy and they tasted GREAT!! And I stink at cooking.
-
You said it!! Also, I will not miss going to the flight counter and hoping they don't ask me to buy another seat, and crying when I need an extension. I look forward to not needing to look at the weight limit for anything. Also feeling more confident.

I am new here, just looking around a lot. I wish you well through all of this and you find a good place. Even though some people can appear to be rude, you cannot tell the tone of text, I hope this is the issue, not that there are those whom are being judgemental. I agree with what you said, some people here are at the end of their rope, and they do not have anyone supportive around them at home. Sometimes one rude thing being said can ruin someones day or make them hurt even more.

Good luck with everything. I had decided to get the surgery and then found out that my insurance does not cover bariatric. I was devistated, but told myself I would find a way, now I am paying out of pocket wich kind of stinks, but my life is worth it to me. Good luck on things and don't give up.

Surprise Hiatal Hernia
TracyLynn replied to newlifeforlittleME's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This may sound bad, but my insurance does not cover bariatric surgery of any kind, I have to pay cash for this surgery. So I hope I have a hiatal hernia, then they will pay for part of the surgery. I have to go in for a stomach scope soon and we will see. So newlifeforlittleME, I am assuming your hurnia did not bother you at all? Well hope you all get better and feel better soon!
