Anyone else sleeved Monday may 20

I actually gained 13 pounds the two days I was in the hospital. Due to all the IV fluids, I was super hydrated. -

I was sleeved on May 21 and not allowed any liquids by mouth until the 22nd. Just swabs of ice Water on the lips. On Clear Liquids for a week. Sure getting tired of beef broth and Jello though. The only real pain I had was from the remaining co2 they filled me with and where they repaired an external hernia. Not taking any pain meds at the moment. On thing that concerns me is the drainage liquid is still dark red after almost a week post op. It should be light pink to yellow by now. See the surgeon on Wednesday morning, so we shall see what he thinks. Hope I can go on full liquids after the OV. -
Had the sleeve done at Summa in Akron, Ohio on Tuesday. On Clear liquids now, one ounce every 15 minutes for the next six days. Gained back about 12 pounds from all the IV's and stopping the diuretics. Frustrating, but will be OK in the long run, I'm sure. Starting today at 269 lbs. Target is 165 lbs. Was 284 when I started my preop dieting though, so I guess I'm still ahead of the game a bit, lol.

I am a big iced tea drinker.... so about a month before my optifast start, I started mixing decaf tea with regular and each week incrased the decaf. Now I drink only that and it is fine.

The ketchup truly SUCKS and the dips are the pits. I do like the chocolate syrup but since I can't drink milk.....

I have found that the Nature Valley Peanut and Dark Chocolate bars are quite acceptable. My nutritionist and dietician both agree that they are the best tasting ones out there. At 160 calories, 25 (I think) grams of protein and only 7 grams of sugar. Certainly they are better than most of the protein bars on the market.

I have found the bacon ranch dressing to be quite palatable and the chocolate syrup was OK. The fruit spreads, Peanut Butter and dipping sauces were quite gross. Have found that Hoods Calorie Countdown white and chocolate milk to be far superior to chocolate milk made with Walden Farms syrup though.

Hi all. I am new here and it all seems a bit overwhelming, yet there seems to be a lot of support. I live in NE Ohio, am a chemist, have a beautiful Chinese wife (for the last 12 years), a GORGEOUS, not to mention smart daughter working in Texas, four cats and getting a puppy (mostly to tell me when it is time to go for a walk). It will help a lot that I will be retiring in another year or so and will actually have TIME to exercise properly too. My surgery is scheduled for May 21st and I'll be starting Optifast on April 29th. So, naturally, all my "friends" are plying me with food, convinced that I will never be able to eat again. But all that will stop this weekend. Right now my weight is 284 and the docs want me at 160... Now I have not weighed 160 since the day I got out of boot camp way back in 1965 ROFLOL. I'll probably have enough extra skin to to make another person. I expect I'll be a constant presence here for some time to come. I understand from other people who have had the surgery that the lowest point comes about two weeks after surgery when they wonder just what the hell they have done to themselves. They also said that lasted for about a week, then everything was fine. Probably got a lot of support from places like this. That is about it for now.
