Emilybites.com Bariatricfoodie.com Gastricsleeve4me - not sure of the website name, but it is a blog with some great recipes. She is also a member of this forum. Also, google "the world according to eggface" she has good stuff too. My family practically lives off the Emilybites meals. I never knew that healthy food didn't have to suck. These are my go to recipe sites. Many of the meals are good for non-ops too. My wife is non-op and has lost 51 pounds since April this year eating from these recipes. And I'm down 105 now. Good luck

I just picked up pb2 at a health food store near my house. It is amazing! You can add the powder to your chocolate protein shake for a reeses flavored shake. They also make chocolate peanut butter flavored as well. Only 45 calories in 2 tablespoons, compared to 190 calories in peanut butter. Oh yeah, and in case I didn't say it, it tastes amazing!

I am 37, six months ago, I was 5'6" and weighed 373 pounds. My son has ran cross country for the last 2 years. I have been lucky to be able to watch him start, then take the parent shortcut to the finish line in time to see him finish. It has always bothered me that I couldn't help him train in any way. Today, I am still 5'6", but am now down to 270. This morning, my son and I participated in a 5k. Yes, he had to wait for me at this finish line, but I crossed it at 49:30' still able to sprint the last 40 yards. And I did not puke, pass out, or die. My 14 year old son, told me that he was proud of me today. I have had many nsv's, but none of them made me feel as good as this one. Worth it all, everyday and twice on Sunday. Much love O

Tell them that dinner is a Protein shake unless they want to cook Honestly, I do all of the cooking at my house. I became very 'selfish' about food when I started this journey. The plus side is, I do all the cooking, and I'm not cooking 2 meals, so, my whole family eats healthy now. My wife has lost 51 pounds now since April, and is not wls! Mostly due to our new menus and the fact that she goes walking with me,

Um, I hold the record at my local Quaker steak and lube. 64 wings at one sitting. I was very proud of that. Now, I'm happy that my Emilybites cupcake is more than enough.

What Has Been The Funniest Response To Your Weight Loss?
theoldmusicbox posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
so, let's hear the funniest response to your weight loss. For me, it was my 11 year old nephew. I hadn't seen him in a long time, and, when he found out that I had lost 100 pounds, his response was 'he's lost 100 POUNDS!?!?!? I wonder if he's still funny?' When I finally got to see him the next week, I told him that I was sorry, but all of my funny melted off. So, what's yours? -
Has Anyone Who Failed With The Band Succeeded With Sleeve?
theoldmusicbox replied to Squeaky123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is a lady in my support group that had the band for a year and didn't lose very much. She revised to a sleeve and after 15 months, she is 25 lbs away from her goal, but she freely admits that she would be at goal if she tried, but has decided she likes where she is. Hope this helps -

theoldmusicbox replied to JDHenin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can tie my shoes without holding my breath I dived off a diving board My son and daughter can hug me and grasp their hands behind my back I can shop off the rack, no more casual male xl for me I bought a pair of running shoes I walk/ran a 5k with my son yesterday 49:30! Didn't puke, pass out, or need paramedics My children have told me they are proud of me 12yrold girl, 14yrold boy) My wife is following my NUTs guidelines and has lost 51lbs without getting sleeved! My grocery bill has been cut in half! -
Out of sheer stupidity, after 5 months of no fried anything, I had a couple of boneless wings from fricker's today. Felt like I needed to wash my tongue, and that thought made me want to vomit. Sleeve tolerated it, but I have decided that my love for fried foods died with the fat-me I'm choking to death.

When Was Your First Bm Post Op?
theoldmusicbox replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not go #2 for 11-12 days post-op. Dr said not to worry, but if I was concerned take 1 low dose stool softener every other day or fiber supplement until it happened. However (tmi) that first one I would say was the closest I could come to giving birth. I almost cried, and when I saw it, was not really surprised since it was almost 2 weeks of number 2 all at once. Now, if I haven't went for 2 days, I start the low dose softener, and all s well. -

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
theoldmusicbox replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My 14 year old son has been running cross country for the last 2 years. There are 1000 other reasons I wanted this surgery, but, the thought of me being able to go running with my son, still is something that drives me to push harder. -
5 Confessions (Join In)
theoldmusicbox replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1) I have only told my wife, kids, mother-in-law, and 1 of my brothers. Everyone else that asks, thinks I'm working with a nutritionist that has me on a tailored diet and exercise plan. 2) my parents have no idea that I've had this surgery 3) I don't miss my fat clothes because let's face it, fat people are just supposed to hide in their homes and not go in public, so why should there be fashionable choices for us? 4) I still weight 270, but I feel like a sexy beast now 5) I need to do more strength training because I realized I'm not as strong as I thought, I just had really good leverage. Lol. Can't move things with just my weight anymore. -

I Was In Tears This Morning

You rock! -
A lot of people hit the 3 week stall. I didnt until weeks 8-9. It sucks, but I keep reminding myself that everyone says as long as you do what you're supposed to, your body will do what it is supposed to. Also, take some measurements! I haven't lost any weight for a week and a half, but in that same time, I've lost an inch off my waist. Apparently, when you stall, your body is doing other things. It will pick up as long as you do your part.

Um, I'm sorry, but you can't just throw that out there and not give us the recipe, or a link, or something. That's just cruel.

What Do You Tell People When You Dont Want Them To Know?
theoldmusicbox replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what I do, and it avoids a lot of things. I've been telling people most of the truth. 1) that my dr told me that if I didn't get under control, I would be diabetic in 2 years and dead within 10. (2) my doctor referred me to a nutritionist and I have been working closely with her. And (3) I keep myself under 1500 calories a day, and offer them the www.Emilybites.com recipe website and tell them my whole family loves the food and they should try it. All of these things are true, and more importantly, this way I'm not giving out false info about fad diets that won't work for others. The way I figure it, if I tell them 'I'm using atkins' or some other diet, then they see my success and try it themselves and continue that cycle. This way, the worst they can do by following me, is make an appointment with a NUT and start eating healthy. Also, I actually DID have a hernia that my dr fixed during my sleeve surgery, so I was able to honestly tell them I had to get a hernia fixed. Good luck with your journey -
My Food Funeral.
theoldmusicbox replied to kimberlee1235's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For a little encouragement to ya, I'd just like to say that, while your relationship with food DOES change, your love of good tasty food, doesn't have to. I am 2 months out now, and I have been able to find soooo many new wls friendly recipes that my family eats better now, than we ever did when I was pushing 400 pounds. Trust me, after you get past all of the sucky stages of the pre and post op diets, (it really does go by faster than you think) you really can still eat food that tastes amazing. Only now, instead of 2-3 plates of it, we get a small amount of yumminess and none of the feeling of 'I'm such a pig' after meals. Good luck, enjoy your new life! -
Am I Able To Do This?
theoldmusicbox replied to Cresteds Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that we all have that 'holy crap, what am I thinking' moment at some point during pre-op. We think of all the horrible things that could happen, and think, 'I will be that 1 person that this doesn't work for'. I would worry if you WEREN'T having those thoughts. It means that you're normal and are trying to know everything you can before you go through with it. Truth is, even after surgery, you will have days (mostly in the first month or so) where you think this was the biggest mistake you ever made. But, trust me, once your body heals, as long as you are doing what you're supposed to, you will love your sleeve. And, yes, the liquid diet sucks. But, it doesn't last forever, and, you'll have other things on you mind anyway. It actually goes pretty fast and when you get to soft foods, life is good. And hey, I started work with my NUT on April 1st of this year at 373 lbs (I'm 5'6"), I had surgery on June 5th, now, I'm still 5'6" but standing at 273 feels a lot better. I still have a way to go, but, i have all the tools I need to get there. And soon, so will you. -
And it should say *blender* not border,....... I'm gonna go to bed now.......
-
Um, stupid spellcheck! *unjury* NOT injury! Haha
-
7oz skim milk, 1 scoop chocolate splendor injury, 1 packet of instant on the go coffee, 5-7 ice cubes, mix in border till the consistancy of a frappe. Or if you prefer French vanilla, use a scoop of vanilla injury instead. This is how I start most mornings.

Has Anyone Not Experienced A Stall In The First 6 Weeks?
theoldmusicbox replied to thesmilos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In response to "I don't know why the stall, but it sucks. I'm getting very depressed" Your body is adjusting. I've heard (and now experienced) that when you stall, your body is doing other things. Many sleevers have taken measurements of themselves durin their stall, and even though they aren't losing pounds, they are still having 'non scale victories' Trust me, as long as you keep doing what you are supposed to, your body will eventually get back on the program with you.
