Keto vs paleo??? Have you ever tried it?

A quick history about myself. I was sleeved about five years ago. My weight on surgery morning was 392lbs. I got down to 252lbs about 9 months after. Fast forward to 5 weeks ago I was 288.8 lbs, I was gaining weight way to quick the past year. As of this morning I'm down thirty pounds in 5 weeks and I feel great. This whole30 diet is more or less a reset button instead of a "diet". I have minimal cravings and I'm able to eat good tasting food thats filling and the food is clean all while still losing weight with minimal exercise. Please at least look into whole30. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions. I will try my best to help anybody I can. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

Keto vs paleo??? Have you ever tried it?

Whole30 is very similar to the Paleo diet. Your not counting calories. You can have protien, fruits and veggies. No dairy, no sugar or sweetners, no pasta. Whole30.com has tons of information available, such as food shopping list, things that are allowed and not allowed. Check it out. It's definitely worth a read. 5. I did not read all posts. Not sure how far out you are from surgery. I sometimes drink my breakfast. Couple handfuls of kale, whole banana, couple handfuls of blueberries or any other fruit that's in season. Throw it all in a nutri bullut with some almond milk and I'm good to go. Good luck Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Back Pain

Anyone's back pain increase after surgery? I origanally had 4 herniated disc. I lost 140 lbs and my back is bothering me more now that I'm thinner. I recently had another Mri last week and my results say that my back has improved compared to pre surgery. I was in PT a couple days ago and they say its fairly common with wls patients to have increased back pain after surgery. I guess from the body adjusting to such a drastic change in weight. Surgery date was Jan 7 2013. I'm down 140lbs +/-. Anybody experienceing this or have any input?

Vitamin Expert Needed! I am lost.

I personally just took centrum chewables post-op. Now I take a general Mens Health MVI and Krill Oil with 1000 IU of Vit.D. I just had labs taken on 10/25 and all my values are normal. I had surgery Jan 7th 2013 and my current weight loss is 140lbs. You should def. do your own research tho. Good luck. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

    Success/Failure of Sleeve

I couldn't say it any better. It's def. a life style change. You have to want it more then the next person. One of the first things my Dr. said to me after surgery was "The easy part is done. Now starts the hard part." Basically saying taking a portion of your stomach out is easy, adjusting your life is the hard part. That statement has stuck with me. Take it day by day and give 110%

    before and after

First off, thanks. I really wish I had some secrets to tell everyone. I followed my post op directions to a T. Regarding food for the first couple months. At 4 weeks post op I started hitting the gym. Did 30 minutes of elliptical then 60 min of weight lifting. I did low weights high reps. I still to this day don't lift heavy. I don't really have a specific diet that I follow. But example today I had a bowl of multigrain cherrios with 1% milk with a whole bannan in it. lunch I had a turkey burger in a carb balance wrap with hummus spread on it. dinner I had a piece of chicken. I had a handful of m&ms some pita chips with hummus throught the day as Snacks. Had about 4 cups coffee. Roughly 80 oz of Water. Today was a off day from the gym. For the most part this is what I usually eat on a normal basis. I've been on a 4 week stall. I've been floating around 250 - 253. If anyone has more specific questions for me I'm more than willing to share whatever I can to help.

    6 months out!

I'm six months out from surgery. Surgery date was 1-7-13. Starting weight was 392lbs. Height 6ft 1in. Current weight is now 264lbs, for a total loss of 128lbs in 6 months. I have roughly 24 more lbs to lose to be at my goal.

    6 months out!

It does seem guys lose faster. Plus I had a lot to lose. Soon as I was cleared to be in the gym I was there 4-5 days a week. I got cleared after 4 weeks. I started off doing cardio then gradually began lifting with very very low weights and high reps. I made sure I got in my Protein. Make sure you get your protein in through food sources rather then via drinks. At first you'll most likely only be able to get in enough protein through drinks and such. Follow the doctors orders to the T. Bottom line is you have to want it more than me or the next guy/girl. Give 110% with this lifestyle change. Feel free to ask any other questions. Good luck
