I exercise 8-9 hours each week.

    Hair Loss

Just saw this. I eat about 850 calories per day; sometimes 900. I wish I could work my way up to 200g of protein/day but that would require me to pretty much do a full on PSMF-style diet and I'm trying to keep my fat up to avoid gallstones. Let's see....today (Monday) I had a total of about 6 oz. of chicken breast (skinless) (about 53 grams protein), a string cheese (8g), 1 serving of chili made with soy meat, onions and peppers (about 13g), a serving of Borden protein-enriched milk (the one with the pink label) (10g), 3oz of sauteed shrimp (no oil, no butter) (21g) and about 2oz. of lean, broiled sirloin steak (about 17g). That is about 800 calories and 122 grams of Protein The downside is that I still can't do raw vegetables. I tried and it didn't turn out well for me. I thought by now I would be able to so I have to work hard on my regularity with so much protein. Anyway, I'm at 13 weeks now and only about 12 pounds to my weight goal.

I just do it. I'm very active so every couple of hours I make sure I get something with lots of protein in. The bulk of my diet is protein. Plus, I'm stubborn. I refuse to participate in the hair loss game.

Google telogen effluvium. Cliff Notes: It's temporary Literature says zinc (up to 200mg/day helps) Personal experience: I'm 12 weeks out and great with the hair but I eat about 125-130g Protein each day and am diligent about my Vitamins.
  5. I did but not for the surgery; just as a part of annual check-up. It's not bad.

    Dry Curly Hair

Do you deep condition it? That will work. The truth is that we curlies have to work harder at maintain moisture. It's just the facts of life.

LOL! Hell yeah. Misery loves company but I'm NOT RSVP'ing to that party. I don't care if I weighed 800 pounds, I'd still be as fly as an 800 pound person can be. Guinness Book...World's Flyest Woman! Nicci, glad to hear it went well for you.
  9. This past Monday was my 10 week mark. Between that point and the last time I blogged, I lost 15 pounds. I realize that is abnormal for such a short period of time but I contribute it (at least in part) to finally curing myself of the constant constipation I've been dealing with since I had the surgery. This now puts my BMI in the high 20's (29.2). Now, I plan to get more serious about my sculpting goals although I still want to shed about 25 more pounds of fat. This week, the internet was flooded with a video of an anchorwoman who had received an e-mail from a man who said he rarely watched addressing her appearance (weight). Based on the letter, the man's approach was coming from one of concern with a mix of overstepping but it obviously bothered the anchorwoman enough to address it on the show. The video has now gone viral. The anchorwoman said a lot but she drew it back to bullying and letting children know that they should not let the opinions of other affect their self-worth. Most people say she ethered the anonymous man and I do think that it was clever to use her platform to address him....since she cared. In general, I thought the speech was ok. Do I think he bullied her? Not at all. An e-mail telling you that you should lose weight is not enough for me to say that the person is being bullied; especially amongst adults. I feel she did herself a disservice by acting as if she was bullied by this stranger. The facts are, had she just deleted his e-mail, we would never know about it. Now, we all know this guy's name and he has made further statements in the media since this video went viral. He's an attorney who has now gotten free advertising. His picture is up everywhere and he has "offered" to "help" her with her weight (sounds like a personal training business plug). Now, she's reading and hearing the comments from the general public that are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than what the man said to her through e-mail. The anchorwoman and her husband went on GMA and her husband noted she has a thyroid problem. The anchorwoman stated that, "It's not about him anymore." The problem is that she was the one who made it about him. Anyone who has experience with a real bully knows that the worst thing you can give them is attention because they live off of it. Yet, this man never shared what he said to her in the media at all. It was her. I can only hope that as an adult, she is past the point of internalizing the unwanted comments of strangers (although doing a segment about it may mean she's not). If it weren't for her, this man would be a non-factor that very few of us even know exists. As wrong as it may be, it is a fact of life that everyone will not like you, be nice to you, find you attractive, think you are smart, or any other subjective measure. I feel that her activism would have been more productive by doing speeches in her local community at schools about bullying. Someone in her position could do a world of good by mentoring girls or young women who wish to go into the media arts and may be unsure about themselves. The way this played out seems like she was someone else resigning themselves to victimhood and it invited people to either pity her or lambaste her further; neither of those is preferable. Now, she's ready to move on and the rest of the people are still talking about her, him and it. Deepak Chopra said something that equates to this: what other people think of you is none of your business and when you try to make it your business, you'll perpetually be miserable (paraphrase). I think that applies to this situation.

I know this is to the OP but... I'm the same way. I won't lie. I did it mainly because I'm fly and I wanted access to more fashionable clothing to "preserve my sexy," as P. Diddy says. My job requires me to be in the public and it's rapidly moving towards me having to become a public figure and I want to be fly as humanly possible.

Can I Opt For A Bigger Sleeve?

Well, they use something called a bougie. Ask your surgeon which size bougie they use. My surgeon was willing to go bigger but not smaller than her normal preference. I just chose based on the empirical information. The thing is that there is very little variation between sizes.

Are you prone to clotting? Is your varicose vein due to weight? My mom has had varicose veins since high school. She wasn't fat. She had me at 24. I don't see why a varicose vein would be a problem though. Do you realize how many people have varicose veins and have surgery. Mostly, after surgery they make you walk to help avoid clots so if you decide to have the surgery, I don't think you'll have a problem.

Again. Everyone is not a statistic. I get what "majority" means and it doesn't mean "ALL." Again. Luck of the draw. So I guess I need to book a flight to Vegas.

Quite frankly, it's a blanket statement to assume that since she's overweight she will eventually run into health problems. I wasn't only healthy, I was fit before the surgery and still am. I think that's the key...fitness. I was/am an athlete so even at my heaviest, I could do stuff most thin people can't. I have an 85 year old grandfather with Type II (since he was 30) who has never had a weight problem and will sit dead in your face and eat a bag of chips Ahoy but every morning he is running for an hour and manages to keep his diabetes under control. I'm just saying....telling someone who's 20-ish that 40 years from now she may get sick....not necessarily convincing. Everybody is not and will not become a statistic. There's a guy on YT who is 600+ pounds with zero co-morbidities according to his caseworker. Luck of the draw.
