Challenge: Spring 2013 goal! Way in on the first day of spring
suejersey replied to foxymomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10/11/12 DOS 278 1/1/13 235 2/14/13 218 3/20/13 210 I am trying not to be too ambitious because I don't want to be disappointed but I think 25 pounds is doable? Above was my goal set in January and I am so happy to say I met my goal last Thursday! So on this first day of spring I am really proud of myself for making the goal. I weigh tomorrow (on Thursdays) so hopefully I will have surpassed my goal! HOW ABOUT A FIRST DAY OF SUMMER CHALLENGE NOW?! -
October Sleevers-Weight Loss Stall/Slower Loss Now
suejersey replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have noticed that I have been "picking" a bit. A taste of this, a bite of that. I was sleeved on 10/11. Last week I lost only 1 pound. Each month I have been losing approximately 10 pounds. I am getting a bit nervous. I know I have to get ramp up the exercise. I so want to get to Onderland and worry that I never will. -

Thanks for sharing. I just read over the guide and it was a good reminder! -
Bye-bye Lane Bryant!

Yay for all of you! I too finally feel like my sizes are going down. I was squeezing myself into stuff that was 1 to 2 sizes too small before so it has taken a while. But I bought a bunch of Old Navy stuff in a regular XL instead of the plus size. I am only getting a few things because I know I will continue to go down. I am so anxious to get near to my goal so I can really shop. I literally have not shopped for more than a couple of pieces of clothing in probably 10 years. (My MOM was giving me stuff that she didn't want or didn't fit - and she is plus size). It is so fun to start thinking about what to wear instead of just throwing something on. In the meantime I have had success at the Goodwill store - $3 for jeans and capris, not a bad deal! -
Congratulations! Keep it up! You look super!

I am 4 months out. Had Chinese food for the first time (and maybe last time) last night. I don't know if I ate too fast and/or too much or what but this was the first time I have vomited since my surgery. I still feel queasy today. I NEVER want to feel that way again! I had chicken and snow peas. Anyone else have a problem with Chinese food after surgery? I don't know if it was because it was Chinese food or something else. I definitely do not follow the rule of eating slow. I usually only have 2 - 3 ounces of food at a meal but I am finished in about 5 - 10 minutes. I know this isn't good, really the only rule I haven't been following. Not sure if I need to eat sooner because I am "hungry" by the time I start eating and then I rush through it. I also didn't measure it and that I am sure didn't help. Well lesson learned! But thankful that has been the only time I have been sick in four months.

Tiny, tiny sips. Sip continuously. Get the Protein from the Protein drinks, don't worry about the broth for now if you can't handle it. You need to be hydrated and you need to get the protein. How are you when you sip the protein? Can you keep that down? The gas is def an issue with people, it will subside eventually, try to walk, that tends to help. Good luck! It does get better!

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
suejersey replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know, I wonder about that myself, how to fit the "sag" in my my pants. I feel like that is going to look so obvious when I get to goal. I wonder something like Spanx will help? Well like you said, better sag than fat!!! -
I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
suejersey replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to take a flight a couple weeks ago, I didn't bump into everyone going down the aisle, was comfortable in the seat and even had room in the buckle! I can't wait to go to Great Adventure this summer and get on the rollercoasters. I had to get off a ride a few years ago because I couldn't fit quickly enough! -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
suejersey replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am now down 67 pounds and I am starting to notice the sag EVERYWHERE! My neck, my arms (even the forearm??!!??) My thighs. Good thing I wasn't planning on wearing short-shorts or a bikini anyway. I have a rash in my groin area that will not go away and kind of "hoping" it will qualify me for some type of a lift that insurance will cover, although I am not thrilled with the idea of another surgery. -

What a great idea - something new in 30 days! Enjoy! -
Sleeved 10/11/12 down 62 pounds. Got to kick the exercise into gear now! I get about 650 calories a day and at least 60 grams of protein.

Im not loosing any weight after VSG surgery
suejersey replied to sherytuta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the original poster you also started at what I would say is a lower weight (193 I think you said) so I think losing is going to be a bit slower. I think the suggestions given about kicking starting your weight loss again are good: high Protein. chicken, cheese, turkey, etcetera. Some vegetable and then if you are still hungry a little bit of rice etcetera. Also exercise. Always think to eat protein first. Writing down everything you eat (or using an app like MyFitnessPal is a great way to keep yourself accountable and motivated.) That app is super easy to use and has helped me a lot. I am only 4 months out so I can't say that eating a six inch subway sub is too much for you because you are more than a year out from where I am. But if you want to lose I would say take the meat and veggies off the bread and just eat them and throw away the bread or at least try throwing away half of the bread and see if cutting carbohydrates helps. Good luck! -
Yummo! Will definitely be trying this! Thanks for sharing.

I also have Aetna but all plans are different. I saw a quack, sorry that's what he was Theodore Batlas (not sure if I spelled his name right). This is going to sound strange, but the whole time I talked to him he was sniffing his fingers LOL! (He needed the shrink, I think). For me it was just a formality as I have OCD and have seen a psychiatrist and counselors many times over the years so I wasn't concerned about the psychological side of things. I honestly don't remember how much it was but I want to say it was $150 maybe? I can't remember but I think he was in Freehold. HTH And again, I can't say enough about Dr. Noyan. He really does care about his patients, I can tell whenever I see him, just by the way he listens and encourages. And my surgery went just great. Good luck!

As far as the nutritionist I was there about two weeks ago and there was no nutritionist yet. I am sure they are looking and hopefully have or will shortly have a new one in place. The nurse that I spoke to when I came for my initial appointment last May was there so maybe she is filling in some on the nutrition end of things. I didn't see her, though.

Challenge: Spring 2013 goal! Way in on the first day of spring
suejersey replied to foxymomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Checking in.....as of 2/14 218 so eight pounds in a month is definitely doable to get to my goal. I just need to start the exercise back up and I will surpass the goal. -
Dr. Noyan did my surgery 10/11/12. Everything has gone wonderfully for me. He is such a kind, down-to-earth man. Follow up appointments with him are very encouraging as well. You can tell he really cares about his patients being successful. I would definitely recommend him and the rest of his team. Good luck!

The Healthsmart Chocolite protein bar is really good for me. They have a number of flavors. The peanut butter one is 100 calories, 9 protein 10 fiber and 4 net carbs. I purchase online at Netrition or BJ Bariatrics.

Thank you for this information. I have Aetna and didn't think there was any chance of coverage but this is good to know. I definitely have a panni (still have another 60 pounds to lose) and have had a rash for YEARS now but it is more in my groin area. I wonder if that rash would be considered. It all started when I got so overweight so I know that the weight is/was a factor. Not that I really want to have another surgery but it is something I will consider when the time comes.
