A Whole Year Of Changes - Surgiversary!
suejersey replied to notmeanymore's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Congratulations!!!! Wonderful accomplishment and wonderful, exciting adventurous years ahead for you! -
Yeah, they are pricey I purchase online - vitacost has a decent price. They rare go on sale either, as far as I can tell but they are sooooooooo good! If you google it there are knock off recipes for them I tried to make them once myself....total fail but that was just me.

I take different types of Quest Nutrition Protein bars and take the rolling pin and thin out. Put in the oven again 380 degrees for like five minutes and makes them into like a cookie. Cookie dough, brown, chocolate chunk versions I have done it with and all are good. Sometimes I will put some PB2 on them as well. Delicious!

Omg. I Truly Am A Shopaholic!
suejersey replied to Bombs's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is a bit of an obsession for me as well.....way too much online shopping. And I am also obsessed with shoes now. I figure though, for the 15 years I literally didn't buy any clothes, what I have been spending in the last 6 months isn't so bad. If you ask my husband though.....not so much. -
The Weird Noises My Stomach Makes When I Eat Or Drink
suejersey replied to calicakes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep - still get the gurgling and the burp, for me, means time to stop - you are now full. It's just the new normal, not a big deal really. I am 13 months and I only have a BM about twice a week. I use a stool softener average once or twice a week. It has gotten better as I was taking Miralax 3 days out of 7 for quite a while, so it has improved but still definitely not as regular as I used to be. -
I have met one goal so far, I have upped my weights on all machines by atleast 5 pounds and some by 10 pounds. Very happy. Have been able to do a 2 mile run so far - but to be honest I have slacked off on the running. I don't really enjoy it. But I did add yogalates which is for strength and flexibility which I really need more flexibility and balance. So happy with how things are going, but I really do need to try another run this week.

How Much Exercise Is Everyone Doing?
suejersey replied to IndieAllie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved 13 months ago, approximately. At one month I was walking around the block perhaps twice, five days a week. Really three miles in 45 minutes? Wow! I was still very tired at the end of each day. You should just be in the phase where you are starting to get more "food" nutrition versus just shakes, soft foods, et cetera so it stands to reason that you will be more tired, plus the amount of calories you can eat is very low. To be honest I only walked (up to 3 or 4 times around my block) until I was 5 months out. At 5 months I had lost about 75 pounds and then I joined the gym. I went to the gym 3 days a week for about an hour. I started out with walking 30 minutes on the treadmill, a zumba class. Now at 13 months I go 4 days per week, one hour - body combat, body pump, yogalates and strength training. It took me 8 months to get to where I am fitness wise. I am at maintenance (with perhaps losing another 5) and now concentrating on fitness. I probably should have started my more diligent exercise before five months, but to be honest at 200 pounds I felt that I could just then begin to manage a more strenuous exercise regime. So listen to your body, get out and walk and do something physical most days and keep upping it as your body gets stronger. Also when I started the gym I definitely had to up my calories. I was doing a strenuous class and would totally lose steam, so I went from 600 calories a day to 800 up to now about 1000 - 1200 per day. Good luck and don't beat yourself up! You are on the right track. -
I have the Polar FT4 or 40 and it works great. I use it all the time.

Congratulations you are doing great and look so happy! -
I have the same concerns. So I don't have any advice just commiserating.

chocolate, candy, chips, ice cream - for me these are sliders. Meaning I can eat a lot more of them before I get full.

Hmm.....I will join but not sure what goals to set...... Be able to run 3 miles without stopping by the end of November (up to 1.75 miles right now) Increase my weight settings by 5 pounds by the end of the month I don't think I like running but it is something different and I want to conquer it to feel more like an athlete not just an exerciser. Not the most earth shattering goals, but they will definitely make me feel like I am progressing and not just maintaining.

When did your weight loss slow down/stop?
suejersey replied to dandeegan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a journey.....it's a bummer when there is a week with no loss, but you will catch up. You may have just caught your weighing at a time when you were holding Water or needed to have a BM or whatever. I found throughout the journey that I would have a no loss week (but no gain) or lose just a pound and the next week I would lose double my normal loss, it was usually just catching the scale and the wrong time. Before you know it you will be 6 - 8 months out and be like, "Wow, when did I lose all this weight." Keep at it, enjoy the journey along the way. I special event is SPECIAL, don't beat yourself up for it. Get back on your normal routine again and keep on keepin' on! -
How do you stop losing weight?
suejersey replied to Lioness813's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am in Monmouth County and I had Dr. Earl Noyan. He has a partner Dr. Val Prokrat. They are both very supportive and I don't have a single compliant about Dr. Noyan. As far as family and friends, YOU have to make the decision for yourself. It is sad and frustrating when those we love can't get behind us, but it is usually because they are afraid. And understandably. It took until my kids were older for my husband to get on board, and my parents were never REALLY on board, but supported me because they knew I had to do something and my sister was very worried but now they are sooooo soooo happy for me and proud of me. And I AM SO PROUD OF ME! I had to do this to be able to LIVE again, so you make the decision you need to and remember why you are doing it.....for your health, for your life! -
LOL - this is so me, too! My husband and I were just talking about that when I gave him half of my sandwich just five minutes ago

Dreaming of Food?
suejersey replied to Disabledaccount's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, yep, yep. And I would wake up feeling guilty and then relieved that it was only a dream LOL! -
Do you still celebrate with food?
suejersey replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sad yet happy is exactly how it feels. I do celebrate with food sometimes now, but it is such a smaller amount. The thought is always there to celebrate with food or have a reason to need to eat, but that is in my head! So it takes work to think about it and say, "Nah, I need to get my Protein in. I can wait for that "treat" for another time." So the surgery really helps physically but I find the physical satiation helps with mental. Good luck! It will be work, but if you look at protein as your fuel and that you want to fuel your body the best way that you can you will be great. Now a "treat" is just that, a treat. My fuel is protein and veggies! -
Sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom.

Just had my one year surgiversary on Friday. 124 pounds! I would like to lose about 5 pounds more and use those as my "bounce" Going to doctor on Wednesday for my one year check up and am going to ask him how to STOP losing weight now. Working on building muscle and contemplating plastic surgery. So happy and blessed to have taken this journey and now it is perseverance to maintain good health and strong muscles! -
What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
suejersey replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I do either 1 or 3 from above. Either way I get usually 3 meals out of a meal and since I love to get a "good deal" it makes me very happy! -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
suejersey replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Susan - luck you....HAWAII! No vacations on the horizon for this girl, unfortunately! Hubby had a serious car accident a month and a half ago so it has been a bit crazy around here doing both mom and dad duties. He is on the mend, but out on disability and getting bored. I want to lose about 5 more pounds and am also working on building muscle. I go to the gym 4 days a week (it's a love/hate relationship) and am going back to the doctor next week for my one year check up. Hoping to find out exactly how I go about MAINTAINING. I think that is what I am stressed about, being able to maintain. I have definitely made habit changes and Protein is always number one but I do enjoy some dessert here and there. If you are happy where you are and can lose whatever else you want to slowly, then by all means, don't deprive yourself. I don't want to obsess about being thin like I obsessed about being fat, either way is a bondage that I don't want. So everything in moderation and enjoy your health and HAPPINESS! We rock!!!!! -
