Just called the LBS about 1/2 mile down the street from my house... the guy seemed nice and said he'd be happy to look at my gear shifters and such. Woot
-
Aww, thanks J!! That means alot! I feel like a big ole loser! haha. There is a 2 mile wal/bike trail near my house that is pretty dang level... I might try to take my bike there, I think as long as I don't have to go up any hills I'll be OK. As the gears at stuck right now, if I'm going downhill my pedalling doesn't make a difference, I just coast, and if I'm going uphill then I can't pedal at ALL! Calling the LBS today to see if they can look at it for me. My ass hurts still. and so do my thighs. I'm sitting here at work today with a sore ass thinking "what was I thinking?!?!!" and then I hear the songs 'Bicycle' by Queen - and I know I can do it. Bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride my bike I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride it where I like You say black I say white You say bark I say bite You say shark I say hey man Jaws was never my scene And I don't like Star Wars You say Rolls I say Royce You say God give me a choice You say Lord I say Christ I don't believe in Peter Pan Frankenstein or Superman All I wanna do is Bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride my bike I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride my Bicycle races are coming your way So forget all your duties oh yeah Fat bottomed girls they'll be riding today So look out for those beauties oh yeah On your marks get set go Bicycle race bicycle race bicycle race Bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle bicycle Bicycle bicycle bicycle Bicycle race You say coke I say caine You say John I say Wayne Hot dog I say cool it man I don't wanna be the President of America You say smile I say cheese Cartier I say please Income tax I say Jesus I don't wanna be a candidate for Vietnam or Watergate Cause all I wanna do is Bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride my bike I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride it where I like

Just relax. I still ate all sorts of nasty bad for you stuff after my surgery. Weightloss doesn't 'really' occur until after you have good restriction, which for ME was after my 3rd fill. -
Roommate saw I was on Lapbandtalk.com...Came to my room to tell me it's wrong!

As a nurse, I can tell you that I really don't like the know-it-all-students. Haha. They have always annoyed me, even when I was in schooL! Don't listen to you, because as everyone else has said, she is ignorant on Lap Band and was speaking from her own personal feelings, not any rational. When I got my surgery I didn't tell ANY co-workers or family at all.. and very few friends. ANd really, I only told people that would be supportive - and even now, 9 months later, only a very few friends know about my band. -
BTW - do any of you watch the Biggest Loser?? Haha. I HEART Jillian! She cusses like a fucking sailor!!

I think I want to take my bike to a shop and have the gears checked, cause like I said, when i change them they don't do anything - the chain just sounds and feels like it is loose or skipping or something. A hazzard of buying an old used bike I guess. The ladies I work with, and my friend Brian all want to go biking, but they want to do trails that would require more like a mountain bike, so I plan on getting one soonish... probably just a cheapie from walmart... hopefully, even though it';s cheap, it will work easily and I will get over my frustrations and start building the leg strength I need. I refuse to be defeated by a bycyle! If I could do it whenI was 5 I can do it now!!
-
THanks BG. It's just weird... I mean, riding a bike was so easy when I was 5. haha. Why should it be so much HARDER now?!?! Wah!! OK, done with my pity party... I took some Ibuprofen for my sore ass and back and will try again tomorrow. Damnit. I'm gonna get back on that horse! And hey, I may have slammed into a concrete wall today (embarrassing!) but at least I didn't fall off the bike!
-
Haha... apparently this is all I know about bikes...
-
Well BG - I'm in bycyle hell! Wah!!! OK all, I need encouragement... I was soooo excited all day long to get home from work and ride my bike in the 65F weather... I was singing songs about it and annoying my co-workers. Actually a few of them were excited too and we've kinda discussed doing a trail together one evening soon... So - I get home and change my clothes and load up my bike. I drive out to the 5 mile stretch of road where I usually walk. I was all hyped up and put on my little gloves and my helmet... and I set off. Itw as slow going, but once I got really going I started to worry cause it felt like I was going really fast. I stayed on the sidewalk, cause my balance still isn't real good and I weave in and out a bit and didn't want to panic drivers on the road, nor did I want to fall over and get ran over. Um... So I went a total of 1.5 miles... .5 of that was downhill, .5 of it was level, and .5 of it I walked. I absolutely cannot bike up even the slightest kint of a hill! I know I should change gears or something, but I tried and it didn't do anything but sound and feel like the chain was loose? I've always had bikes with just one egar, so I'm clueless about this stuff!!! HELP ME! It was definitly a good workout and I loved the parts where I was actually on the bike. My ass hurts like hell and I am going to get a gel seat SOON. I dont want to feel discouraged, but I do. The whole way home I wanted ice cream (comfort food) thank goodness I'm too vain to go to the store all red faced and sweaty, Lol.

They make sublingual B12 tablets that dissolve under your tongue. Cherry flavor. I used to take them, but I haven't in a while. I might start taking them again though, since I don't eat meat anymore... and B12 is the only vitamin/nutrient that you cannot get through any other food source other than meat.

It's supposed to be 64F today and 72F tomorrow. I'm so excited! As soon as I get home from work I'm taking my bike out for a public spin... Please pray I don't crash in front of anyone! PS. I was GOING to post pics last night of the bike, but damn photobucket wasn't working for me. I'll try again later tonight.
-
Hey Janine!! Glad you made it past your plateau!!
-
I heart eBay... I haven't bid on any of it, I just thought it was cool. So, I feel all decked out now. I got me a helmet today. Found one at Sears for $4.99 +tax. It's a juvinile helmet, but it fits me fine, so I figured it would work. Lol. If it's a problem later then I'm only out 5 bucks... I need to upload pix of my bike, so you can all see her hotness. BTW, Daddy, there is a town here in Missouri called Licking. It's awesome. There is a prison tehre. ha.

HP - Congrats on getting a new bike! I'd love to be able to afford a "NEW" bike, but we all must make due with what we got. Haha. You should put up pics of teh bike soon!
-
C- Thanks for the congrats - I will be geting a helmet soon!! And I was talking to a friend of mine tonight about my bike and he got so excited that he wants to go buy a bike toO! So we'll be getting him a cheapie bike and we'll ride together. We'll look so good. Haha BG - I know what you mean about being the biggest one in the room!!! Yesterday when I was at my brothers welcome home party (home from Iraq) I was SHOCKED that I wasn't the biggest by far! Lol. Most of my fmaily is rather large... but it is now my little sister (22 years old) who is the largest. Seriously, she is 6'0" tall and has to weigh at least 400 now. (I'm 5'10" and weighed 382 at my highest recorded weight.) I'm so sad for her!! I'd share my secret of Lap Band with her, but she and her husband have no insurance and absolutely no money so it isn't even an option for her at this time. ANYWAY... I'll post a few pics of my bike tomorrow... or later tonight, depending on my mood.

Guess what guys!?!?! My bike is up and running - AND I learned how to ride. Lol. After my dad put on the nwe tires and tightened up the brakes my lil brother Matt, who is like 10 or 11 years old, kept trying to get me to ride. I was like "Nooo! I'll fall off!!" He kept telling me that he'd catch me. He's such a cutie! So I hopped on and 'rode for a while with one foot on the ground before I finally got up the courage to put that foot on the proper pedal. Ha! It was so awesome!! I was flying - until my 1 1/2 year old nephew ran out in front of me and I paniced and jumped off the bike. (I couldn't even think to break, just jumped off.) Anyway, I'm very very excited. Now it's getting cold for a few more days. Tuesday supposed to me in the 60s though... so I may try a ride on a public street... we'll see how that goes. I should probably get a helmet before then!! BTW, I'm MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/7225871 Just don't ever leave a public comment about lap band, cause I have family there who don't know about the surgery. I'm sneaky.
-
Wow, we're all myspacers. Lol. I have a facebook too, cause my whole family does, but I never use it. Just FYI: PLEASE don't leave me public comments on myspace about Lap Band. I have family on there too and NO ONE knows about my band. It's just easier that way. Thanks! I'd write more, but I'm so tired with the Daylight Saving Time thing! Ugh. And i"m gonna be late to work if I don't get dressed!!
-
hey all! I'm MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/7225871 ADD ME NOW! Lol. I need to go to my doc again for more lab work. I know back in like Sept she told me I was 'insulin resistane' so I need more labs now and stuff... maybe I could sweet talk her into some byetta! Haha. She's a DO though, not an MD. DOs don't typically like to give out meds as freely as MDs...
-
I have insulin resistence, though I'm not diabetic... maybe I can talk my doc into the byetta? Lol. I haven't worn my bugg for about a week. I have a dry skin rash on my arm where I wear it. I tried just moving it up or down or on the other arm and it's just not comfortable there. I'm fickle. But yeah, as soon as the rash is gone I'll put it back on. (My whole body is a big dry skin rash! This winter is KILLING my skin!!)
-
So would you al recommend getting a new SEAT, or just a gel seat cover? Cause if I'm gonna get a new seat I'll need to get it before Sat and have my dad put that on for me too. Haha
-
Wow Rhonda, sorry you've been sick!! Hope you feel better soon! As for a plateau - I'm there with you! I'm getting pissed off about it too! Grrrrrrrrr!
-
Oh yeah. Did I mention that I have NO padding on my ass and that the seat KILLS me!!! What kind of gel seats do you recommend?
-
Ergh! Argh! Cuss cuss cuss! So.. after about an hour of trying and cussing and knuckle scraping... I can only get off one screw thingy to get the wheels off to change the tires and tubes. Lol. I nearly cried when I was remembering how my stepdad used to do all that stuff when I was a kid (he passed away 7 years ago this month). It was a crazy hour. I finally gave in and called my father. I'll see him this Saturday anyway (my lil bro just got home from Iraq and we're having a shin dig for him) so I called and he said he'd get it fixed for me. I'm very grateful, but it still feels a bit like cheating on my stepdad. Haha. I have issues. Either way - my bike WILL be all fixed up on Saturday! I need to finish shining her up a bit... when ppl donate crap to the Salvation Army they don't care what it looks like. Caked up mud all over her undersides. Ugh. C- sorry about your doc not giving you want you wanted... but as a nurse you know that not all docs are good with that kind of stuff...
-
Thanks B. I really hope I like this bike!! And the Bimbo thing is a brand of snack cakes in Mexico. I bought some when I was down in Houston a couple years ago. Yummy!
-
Hey all.... I shouldn't say anything yet - cause I'm not sure how it's going to work out - but I bought a bike today. Haha. Got it at the Salvation Army Thrift Store... $24.99. She is a deep red color and looks good. Feels good. I have so far spent WAYYY more money on new tireds, tubes, air pump, a multi tool and back of the car rack thingie... the tires alone cost me more than the damn bike! Good think I was shopping cheaply!! She's a Columbia Calais - I tried to find a pic online of one, but came up empty handed... so whatever. I'm going to attempt to get her all shined up and new tires/tubes/ ect all put on before I take pics. Still need a helmet, I forgot to get one. Oh well, soo damn cold right now anyway, and I think its supposed to snow a bit tonight. I'm excited anyway. HOPEFULLY next year I'll be able to get a 'real' bike. Hahah!
