Anyone doing Weight Watchers (or similar) as well as having the band?
Suzzzie. replied to anniedub's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to do the WW and Lean Cuisine meals... but now I quit eating meat so I can't have them. Oh well. It forces me to cook a bit more. -
What kind of bike did you get??! I'm all about bikes now. Lol.
-
Hey... I think Stef is doing this ride - I'll send her to this thread...

I've done one, and I loved it, personally. After surgery my diet changed soooo drastically (duh) and my bowels got all confused. I'd go 4-5 days without pooping!! I did a cleanse and now I poop at least once a day. FYI - a 'normal' person (whom I've never met!) should poop minimum of 2x per day - EVERYDAY. I think thats insane though - WHO HAS THE TIME!! PS - If you want to do a cleanse, make sure it's an all natural one, and no less than a 7 day process. Anything faster and it's just not as effective. the purpose isn't to have explosive diarrhea, just to regulate bowel function.

Thats awesome. I wish my Sweet Tomato was doing that!! i heart that place!

One of my good friends on here is on it and she is not diabetic, her doc gave it to her for weightloss and it's working great for her. I was insulin resistant a few months ago, so I'm thinking about talking to my doc about it. I think it's a great drug!

When I was getting stuff together for my surgery it only mattered what my BMI was right then. I thin when they look at your history they are just trying to see if the obesity is an acute thing or if it's something that you've strugled with for a long time.

I got my Date - March 26th

Congrats to you! You'll do great!! -
I'm on a plateau right now - about 2 1/2 months... I blame ice cream. Lol. Seriously though, I have cut back on the sweets again and started riding my new bike and walking again and I've lost 1 pound this week. It's all about spending more calories than you're consuming.

Have you gotten a fill lately?!?! Sounds to me like a visit to your doc is in order!! THe band will not work without the proper fill amount and restriction! -
THanks J. I've looked online a bit about how to shift gears and such. I think mine just confuse me because they aren't numbered like the new bikes. Lol. I need to figure out what works. I like your suggestion about having someone hold up the bike and hand pedal while I shift. Maybe I'll tag my roomie for that sometime this weekend. veg food is so yum. My lasagna is good - though I made the mistake of using cheapie fat free cheese on top and it didn't melt so much as clump together and turn hard... Ugh. Once I peel that layer off it's OK. Haha. Wish I had enough energy to go to the store and buy a better cheese to put on top. Lol. Oh well. Anyway, I used the Boca 'meat' crumbles and some diced mushroom peices to make it and its good. :banghead:

And if you have my myspace - I added several new pics there too... of my bike and other random things.
-
Close up of my shifter things. Whole bike, black furry thing in front would be my baby boy Toadie. (yes I have a cat named Toad!) My new TREK Water bottle. Haha. I didn't know what type of water bottle I'd get when he put it in, but I like it!
-
I'll try to get better pics of my bike tonight - I'm currently in the middle of making a vegetarian (though not vegan!) lasagna for work tomorrow. Lol.
-
Yeah, I have the old lever type gears... and there is no telling when I've gone far enough on it to have made the change... It's weird.
-
Yeah yeah... well it wasn't the oil afterall! Lol. Apparently my car is just an attention seeking whore. There was NOTHING wrong with her!! So I paid a $48 tow bill for nothing. Ugh! Got my bike back too. Shifts gears now - but someone needs to help me! Haha. I asked the guy at the LBS to show me how to work them, and he laughed at me like I was making a joke - so I laughed too and figured that I'd just ask ya'll! When going uphill which direction do I point the gear-y thingies? I think uphill = up gear? I tried a few different things and couldn't tell much difference... of course, I'm appaarently a weakling and just can't bike up a hill. Lol.. Anyway, I did take my bike out to a walk/bike trail that has 2 miles of trails, I think I circled enough to be able to say I did a full 2 miles? Thats what I'm calling it anyway. My legs are tired as hell, and my ass hurts. I already have low back issues, so I can deal with that pain. I'm sooooo going to take some ibuprofen and lay in bed all evening. I will say though, that tonight was MUCH more successful than Tuesday evening!!! By about 100%! I didn't even come CLOSE to wrecking or falling or anything, and I took some curves and such. I think I'm going to stick to this trail until I build up strength and don't feel DRAINED after it. Lol. I can't wait to be expert riders like ya;ll!! I'm so excited!!! And I'm GOING to buy a gel seat - SOOOON!
-
Yes, yes I do. I called the shop and told them to check the oil first thing... and to change it, even if that isn't the problem. Lol. I'm a horrible car owner. I feel like the gas light comes on when I need gas, why doesn't the oil light come on when I need oil? Like, seriously, last year when my did this because I had no oil in it the light NEVER came on!! Isn't that it's JOB?!?!

I do not discuss my goal weight or even tell anyone how much I've lost. When ppl ask how much I've lost I tell them "Not enough" and when ppl ask whatI want to get to I just say "when I'm happy." No one needs to know my numbers. It's a personal decision for everyone. PLUS I find that ppl who've known you as fat for a long time, or ppl who've ONLY known you as fat are less accepting of your knew body and lifestyle because they are afraid that you'll change. I am 5'10" as well, and I think I have my goal set at 150 on my ticker, so I think you are right on Stef!

Thanks HP! I forgot about this - I did it once before on accident. Lol. This is the best pic I have of my bike now, it was taken as my dad was putting the seat back on it last Saturday, and that is one of my nieces in the background. It was taken on my phone camera, so its crappy quality. Maybe once I get t back tonight with new water bottle and holder and gears that work I'll take REAL pics. Lol. I kept having dreams last night that the guy at the LBS put mountain bike tires on my bike insisting that I needed wider tires cause I was a larger person. Haha. Self conscious much?!? I think that comes into play becuase everyone I work with and some friends seem to think that the wider knobby tires are more stable... wtf. Stef (or TX, whatever!) - I DO think I know what is wrong with my car. Lol. If ya'll promise NOT to yell at me I'll tell ya..:confused2::teeth_smile: I never change my oil... and I remember that this time last year my car did this SAME thing and my roomie was like "check your oil" And I was like "whatev... oil has nothing to do with it..." And sure enough I had like NO oil in the car. As soon as we put some in it then it drove FINE! I got the oil changed a week later - that was on March 23 last year. Haha.... and that was the last oil change I had done. Of course, the car was already towed before I thought of this, so I don't even have my key to try to fix it. I'm just going to call the shop bright and early and tell them to start there and not charge me for a diagnostic exam. Lol. We'll see. Damn... $45 to get towed... maybe someday I'll learn to check/change oil?!?! OK all... a co-worker is coming to pick me up for work today... so I better get my ass in gear.

C - my best friend in Houston is going through her lap Band process right now... she just set up her psych and nut appts... still has to do a 3 month diet, etc... anyway... she is having LOTS of trouble with people at her work and so called 'friends' and her mom telling her all about what she 'should' do, etc. I told her that if she had any questions to just ask me (Lol, cause I know it all!) or to come HERE to LBT!! People have too many opinions, and feel the need to interject them upon you at all times. Even the docs and such. Thank goodness my doc ONLY does lap band!!
-
HP - you look great!! And so does your bike. I keep meaning to post pics of my bike, but I only klnow how to do it through photobcket, which STILL isn't uploading my pics for me... Yeah J, I left the house with 2 modes of transport and came home by foot... my neighbors were confused as hell when I walked up to the apt. Haha.

Daddy - Yeah.... he is gimpy (long story, but basically think of the braces that Forrest Gump had to wear on his legs - thats what my roomie gots) and he can't drive. Lol BG - TRUE! I can't wait to get the bike back tomorrow, and have a Water bottle on it. Lol. I'm going to have the guy show me EXACTLY how to make the gears work too. Lol. I admit - the bike shop smelled great (newness, rubber... Lol) and there were tons of super hot bikes. It was like going into an expensive cnady store. Damnit! As for being cold - I find myself cold alot more often now. People at work insist I just need to eat a steak. Lol. WHat is it with people being so mad when you decide to go vegetarian!? BG, do you have backlash from the meat-eaters in your life? Haha. Anyway, yeah, they think I'm anemic now. Whatever. I'm just COLD cause I am missing 92 pounds of FAT insulation that I used to have!

Dropped my bike off at the LBS. He said it would be about $18 to fix the gears and I asked him to add in a water bottle holder and water bottle, which will be another $15. Lol. Sure, I could do this myself for cheaper, but nah. I'm lazy. Once I dropped the bike off I planned to drive out to my trail and walk at least 2 miles... but my damn car wouldn't start. After I cussed alot I called a tow truck ($45) and they said it was going to be a 2 hour wait. I just left the key in the car and walked home. I told the tow guy about that and he agreed it was fine. I also called the car shop and told them they'd have a drop off tonight and gave them basic info (my name, #, and what the car was doing) and they will call me in the morning. I walked home - 1/2 mile. Lol. Thank goodness I didn't go to the other LBS I was thinking about - it is about 10-15 miles away! I'd have so called someone to come get me! Haha! That is how my life goes... So, I drove a 1/2 mile and had a car and a bike... and i had to walk home because both are going to be fixed. Lol. Ugh.
