6. It really depends on the surgeon... Just do a lot of research and make sure your parents are on the same level with you... it will make things a lot easier for you. Good luck and feel free to p-mail me anythi8me if you have any question.. Also try looking up DayOne Health and see there policies.

  11. Ok so i was on Amazon.com and came across this cookbook called: Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery Author: Patt Levine Here's the description: In April 2003 Patt Levine underwent “Lap-Band” gastric surgery, one of the primary bariatric surgeries being widely practiced today. As a lifelong foodie, she was expecting the worst when her surgeon’s nutritionist handed her dietary guidelines to follow post-surgery, and she was right. With her decades of cooking skills, she immediately set out to devise low-fat dishes that would be just as delicious pureed and chopped as they would be served whole. As an added problem, she wanted to cook for her husband at the same time. This first-ever cookbook for the hundreds of thousands who are lining up for bariatric bypass surgery is proof that it can be done. With collaborator Michele Bontempo-Saray, the author has created 125 recipes that contain no added sugar, are very low in fat, and get their carbohydrates almost exclusively from fruits and vegetables. Each recipe includes specific guidelines for preparation of the dish for every stage of the eating programs for Lap-Band, gastric bypass, and Biliopancreatric Diversion Duodenal Switch (BPD-DS) patients, as well as suggestions for sharing meals with those who have not gone through gastric surgery. Creative recipes cover every meal and food—Breakfast and brunch, Soups, vegetables, main courses, and sweet indulgences. I'm definitely going to purchase it... I just wish i had known about it before when i first began my band journey.. I just thought id share it with my fellow bandsters and as well as those in the process. It seems like it would be helpful.:ranger:
  12. Awesome!! Never had a Thanksgiving where i ate and was satisfied instead of stuffed... Only had 1 small helping instead of 2-3 large helpings... I love my BAND!!! jcambra, how was ur thanksgiving?

Why did you choose the band over GB?

I definitely agree.. I'm happy for everyone no matter what decision they make/made... :whoo:
  14. I calculate BMI's of kids everyday(because i work in a pediatricians office and the doctors require us to do so as part of the vitals...) so i just do it one my own

  20. It varies day to day.... but i usually try to keep myself busy so i dont hink about food at all...

But being a female and having that lovely little friend visit every month dont help either.. thats when its the worst for me. I usually can shut them up by saying i want to look good by...... (my Vegas trip in aug of 08) But it is so much harder when you crave chocolate & potato chips...

Just take it on day at a time... Remember baby steps

(but it has gotten a lot better since march)
Or you can try to have a little snack that has Protein and gets you full so you no longer have that desire...

Almonds work very well for me i can only have 4-6 of them and im done

    Food too much trouble??

Try tuna... it really is easy to chew (the can or pouches) i like the albacore the best because it tastes better by itself and i put less then 1 teaspoon of light mayo in it. And there is a lot of protein in it
  22. NO STRAWS?!?!?!?! ok i have been banded for 8mths and have never heard this rule...... I always use straws and never seem to have a problem.. And in my case it helps me to drink things slower as opposed to drinking regularly where i gulp things down... but then again every surgeon has their own rules... and just follow what they recommend.. but i just found it a bit odd.
  23. A lot of us current bandsters went through the same thing....

I was so scared i literally was shaking.. But i'm now 8mths post-op 63.5lbs less and loving every minute...

You will do great!!!! I would do it again in a heart beat!!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

:bump: So i was sitting by computer earlier today in my shorts with my legs up on another chair when i realized that the fat that was around my knee before is disappearing i actually see the shape of my real knee.. :clap2:
  25. I'm sorry cookies.... I agree with what everyone else has already stated.. Just surround yourself with support from somewhere else and continue taking care of yourself (you always have us LBT member to help you on your journey).

Hopefully with time she will realize what a big mistake she made and come to her senses.. and maybe you two will be able to get through it.

You did a lot to get where you are and you deserve the best!!!! Lots of hugs and always know we are all here for you!!!

-Jeni

I can't believe a fellow wls peer would become like this when they know the struggle of being overweight and losing weight... this is truely sad.. I also hope i never become this way.
