    Emotional Vampires & Toxic People

Thankyou! I've met some really lovely people on here and am so grateful for the support! I know one day it will have to be myself I look to for reassurance and really look forward to the day when I'm comfortable in my own skin!

    Any Smokers?

I have been told absolutely not to smoke for two weeks prior to surgery and will be placed in nicotine Patches at the hospital. I am currently smoking but don't anticipate it being too difficult as I usually quit ok, it's just staying quit after a few months! But apart from healing it's also the heightened risk of getting an infection because your immune system is compromised as a smoker! I'm not scheduled until June/July 2013 but plan on quitting well before I go on the liquid diet so im not doing too much at once Good luck

    Emotional Vampires & Toxic People

Hmmm my college girl friends always used to tease me about the men I was with, like "ewwww" etc! Sometimes it was upfront sometimes behind my back. I thought, hmmm maybe my taste is funny- until my 21st birthday when the tall handsome guy they had all been flirting with (and I thought was too good looking for me, so I was just being friendly) decided to kiss me! When we all went home one of the girls actually pulled a meat fork out of the kitchen drawer and stuck it in my bum in front of everyone as a "joke"! I was mortified and thought the guy would never want to be near me again if I was the brunt of these sort of jokes! Now it's been 7 years and we've been living together for all 7- we moved in together shortly after we met because he didn't like the way my roommates were treating me! I dont have many friends, I'm just too anxious around people because of the way I've been treated before, but as long as I have my Pat I can gain or lose whatever and know ill always have at least one true friend! Oh and butterthebean- your dogs are almost as gorgeous as you! Lookin good!!!

I can't wait Lila!! I hope you are feeling ok at the moment! Any status updates?!
  7. Crap, butterthebean who am I on myfitnesspal?! I'm such a ditz!!! Anyway add me too, I'm pre sleeve and had a fairly good day yesterday except for obvious bad sugar hits!!! I need to fill that with fruit and nuts more but I'm learning and trying to figure out exactly what my body is asking for sometimes... I'm a fairly active person but usually don't log every bit of cise I do unless it's over 30 mins... But you should get a pedometer and try to get your 1000 steps in, find a pool with an indoor section (I know you guys are going into winter there)... I reckon exercise helps keep you motivated to eat healthier coz you don't wanna eat crap you just exercised off!!! And also, easy thing really, either start shopping online or make a list and STICK 2 IT!!! Don't buy it anymore- not for your family or you! I bought chocolate ice cream bars for hubby and have had half the box! When I'm sleeved that will be a slider and obviously just something I cannot have near me anymore! Important no# 1 thing: LEARN from this get confident again by realising you are not a loser! We all get you and we're certainly not losers you have to figure out what makes this hard for you and eliminate it! Everything in moderation works for some and maybe for you, but if there is something you feel is really sabotaging your success keep this in your mind and never go near it again, swap it, say "ice cream f'd me up! If I ever want that again I will replace it with hazelnut sorbet or yoghurt or a piece of carob" or whatever! Oh and Protein you need, yes, but I always end up eating less on the days I have a protein shake! Ima go have one now! Peace and good luck, get back on that tired old horse again and again and again! That's the best we can do Oh and just told by hubby I'm blevarre on myfitnesspal

    Acne Breakout

Yeah from description I would think its hormonal... I have just started getting some small white bumps on my upper arms and am just focussing on keeping the area clean until it clears up And although it's expensive I would recommend a consult with a dermatologist too this is their specialty

    Whats On Your Bucket List?

Oh, legs crossed I agree with nyxa. I was tought at catholic girls college to sit with knees straight ankles crossed behind- it scuffed the tips of my shiny black shoes every time! And I always bob down to pick up things on the ground- yes it's more polite, but I would love, just once, to bend and snap!!!!! (go Reece Witherspoon!) lol

    Plantar Fascitis

I know a lot of overweight people get that and overpronation of the feet, but I have sciatica and exercise HURTs! I've been swimming (lazily) today and although it hurts at the time my back and leg feel much better now I would try some arm weights (so you're building some muscle to help burn cals) and try some natural therapies to improve your whole-body health I know the last sounds hippy-ish but reflexology has helped my sciatica tremendously! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

    Lack Of Energy

Nut is nutritionist and citrical (I read it as critical first too lol) is for calcium?

    Lack Of Energy

My mum is on under 10 carbs a day on diabetic diet, and my sister is on 300-500 a day depending on her training schedule... Everyone diff. But pre-sleeve I'm averaging 300, but I'd like to cut that down (most of it is fruit and grains though- except on bad takeout days)

    Husbands

My mum and dad both = passive-aggressive immature. They are "roommates" and fight/bicker constantly. Mum put on too much weight and their libidos don't match. Dad moved out of their bedroom when I was young and into his own. I think they should get divorced but despite these smallish problems they seem to work during the toughest times! As my mum is dying of obesity dad (who has always taken her lovingly prepared meals for granted) has started shopping and cooking for her, he takes of work to drive her to appointments, he works like a dog to pay the mortgage off as a single breadwinner. Meanwhile mum organises the bills (she says he hasn't paid a bill in his life) forces herself to clean the house and Iron his shirts... Anyway, I suppose I'm saying that no matter how dysfunctional a relationship seems on the outside, sometimes as a team a marriage is better than two individuals. Really I don't know if either parent would survive without the other

Oh my mum used to put mozzarella inbetween and it was soooo gooey!!! You're awful Lila! Now I can't get it out of my head! I'm about to have a woolworths brand Thai chicken curry Soup... I hope it is a good sign that your getting some appetite back! I'm pretty sure my mum was born at tweed heads hosp. She is from murwillumbah originally! Yeah it seems like ear plugs are the go! One time I was in hospital there was a lady dying of lung cancer in bed next to me and her death Earle is something I'll never forget! Agh I hate hospitals like that and pray you can get out ASAP!!!!! *peace*

    Depression?

I think short term it can exacerbate symptoms, you will feel tired, run down, weepy etc from the anaesthetic and so lying in bed all day can psychosomatically make people more down than usual. Eg: try putting a pen sideways in your mouth between your teeth like this <-----> you are smiling. Then put the end in your mouth like a lollipop (•) you are frowning. Studies have shown peoples moods change in relation to these physical tests. So, try getting some sun with your mum to help her feel better... 30 mins of gentle walking = low dose antidepressant If symptoms continue or if she expresses suicidal thoughts or ideation then she should see a dr for assessment as it may be underlying issue she was treating with food (as mentioned above)! Good luck and keep in touch cheers

    Galbladder Symptoms>?

Rather than surgery they can use a type of electric shatterer thingy but it doesn't always work/ they can come back. It's the same concept of labour: trying to push something too big out of something too small- the stones gets stuck in the duct between gallbladder and stomach when bile released. Mine was only classified as "sand" rather than stones so the electricity thing wouldn't have worked anyway oh and when the do biliary pancreatic diversion they routinely take out the gallbladder because of the high probability of getting gallstones post-op... Hope the pain goes away

    The Easy Way.....

Hi nicky I think your post is great, it follows my philosophy But- everyone is on own journey and I would add a disclaimer that everything in moderation is not going to work for everyone here this may in fact sabotage their weight loss (as lollyfiddy said) if their nut or doc aren't supportive of this decision or able to counsell them thru the hard times. Also, because i have gone to both extremes and back I do find that moderation is not the easy way for me... I think it is the right way for me, but I struggle everyday I continue to have severe guilt around certain foods and other foods (like soda) are definitely triggers or sliders that I just can't have any more... Thanks for sharing though and good luck!

    Goodbye Granny Panties! Hellooooooo....

My hubby like polka dots for some reason- but they always stretch from being cute to huge! I look forward to cute polka dot panties (even in granny shape) Oh and lace boylegs!!! I hate that I'm a size too big for the biggest ones so the lace leaves scratchy marks from being pulled too tight Love this thread!
