Nnonononono!!!! This is my own oersonal demon! Don't tell me they're ok!!! Im trying this everything in moderation thing but unless I'm on my deathbed I ain't goin anywhere near the deep-fried salted skin of a pig! Just no for me... No... Ok who am I kidding ~ hi I'm Beth & I'm a food junkie~ please don't trust me around salted meat products of any kind!!!

Yeah sorry about the oz/gram thing I was just soooo anti-googling right then! Yeah in aus 3 oz is about the size of our regular one-serve tunas tins and it's the amount I eat in one sitting pre-sleeve. Although to be fair if you sat like 20 oz of tuna in front of me I could polish it off but would feel very fishy :~o

I agree with peacequeen re: My carbo-phobic mum likes iceberg lettuce, she uses them as little scoops for chow mein or antipasto etc..I'm a proteiny person normally although I've recently started experimenting with carbs, they make up about 40% of my intake at the moment and I found my favourite crunchy bread-stitute is ryvita whole grain crisp breads. Of course they'd be for later on, I just thought of them... Ummm other than that try the recipe section I suppose...

Not To Ask A Dumb Embarrasing Question But...

The thing is STI can occur even with hormonal contraceptive and bleeding during sex if it is not your time of the month can be a big indicator of an STI. So in my opinion a full work up would probably be recommended by your gyno if you see them, so best advice is book an appt. There's absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about, but the best I can do is refer you again to a health care provider. *peace* -
Egg Salad And Tuna
Cookeeeeez replied to GiiNaGiiNa408's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol- the fat way!!! Mwahaha!!! I mixed a little extra light cottage cheese in with my tuna yesterday instead of mayo- couldn't taste the cheese but it made the tuna a little less salty and less dry... Oh and I love a little raw onion and or celery in my tuna... I can imagine mixing tuna into tabbouleh would be nice... Mmmmmm making me hungry!!! -

Not To Ask A Dumb Embarrasing Question But...
Cookeeeeez replied to bonbon85's topic in The Gals' Room
I do not necessarily believe it to be weight-related but if you felt more "aroused" in the last few days and more "lubricated" during sex then it was very likely a period. If you felt a little more dry, and even a little sore then it may have been your hymen. Dome girls hymens will break long before intercourse, but some girls also have a more durable hymen which can cause problems during intercourse. Since you are sexually active I would recommend a trip to a gynocologist for regular pap-smear and STI test regardless of whether you use protection, and you can ask their opinion then. P.s one thing I know for sure is it will take time for your period to regulate as you lose/lost weight. This is normal, but in this case obviously a little awkward. Also, good news if you have a boy-toy mature enough to handle these sort of things that just happen -

Yes, I must admit that even here in australua unless you've actually done something, ie if she had actually jumped out of the car, it is almost impossible to even get an evaluation, let alone a bed. I wish you and your family the best in these scary and confusing times *peace* -
Ah so glad this one didn't turn into a hot-house! I had heard that (contrary to popular belief) carbonation doesn't stretch the sleeve, it just makes you a little uncomfortable... It is the lapband that is physically affected by bubbles... Have any of you come across data or anecdotes by surgeons about this? You can pm me if you don't want a flame throwing party... Also I'm a teetotaller, so it's purely to be more widely informed sorry for gatecrashing men *blush*

"you Have To Reexamine Your Relationship With Food"

Oh and did you know mel Gibson's brother Chris has a book out (and a fiction one he's writing now) called "memoirs of a fat bastard". It's a fun and easy read regarding the alternative therapies that helped him change his life, including reiki & NLP... -

"you Have To Reexamine Your Relationship With Food"

Ahhh I loved re-reading this thread with some new posts... The funny thing i want to mention is that my mum cannot and probably will not ever get over her ingrained philosophy of eating. She is all or nothing and has blatantly said it feels like if she eats a piece of fruit or a donut (any sweet thing with carbs really) that she goes into a binge cycle. She simply cannot eat in moderation she is 100 kgs and fluctuates +-10kgs yearly. She can see how her all or nothing mentality contributed in some way to my eating disorder but for the life of me i cannot convince her to seek help and try a new way... Very unfortunately for out enture family, she has been told she will very likely die soon, set in her ways. I definitely won't try and convince anyone who is on here that being strict is a bad thing- in fact if it's working for you it would be an awful sabotage on my part to lure you off-track! I would feel mortified if I said "try this naughty food in moderation and see..." and it affected you adversely... That is not my intention, please follow your own journey and be at peace!!! But for some people who have tried that trail and can't stay with it and automatically fall into the binge crevasse I will advocate trying what has started working for me, something advocated to me by psychs and dieticians alike... I try to follow the rick kausman and Michael Pollan and rosemary Stanton philosophies... I try to eat real food, mostly greens, some meat and complex starches/wheats... Plus that occasional thing that I simply cannot avoid in the society in which I live: junk! Oh and Protein shakes, I'm pretty sure they fit in there somewhere... Anyway, I'm not perfect, never will be, so for me personally, I need to take out the guilt I sabotage myself with and add understanding and moderation its hard, I still get feelings of disgust at myself (last night I had a fun size timeout bar and cried myself to sleep over it!) but today I keep going knowing I didn't drink 2litres of soda, KFC, McDonald's, pizza hut, Krispy Kreme and so on... They are minefields to be avoided but I have growing confidence that I will survive and eventually they will have power over me NO MORE, they will just be food... -

Cookeeeeez replied to newgrandmother's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I know!!! My surgeon doesn't need a test but he's drilled it into me that I can lose all the weight in the world but it's the cigs that will affect my recovery stats more!!! (btw, I wonder how those tests go with the nicotine patch?) The worst thing: I quit while in hospital for pneumonia but started again like two weeks later!!!! It's gunna happen, it's gunna have to happen, but..... this is your thread! All attention on you and your good self!!!! Did you get a Bari-bear/buddy? I was going to order what my partner calls a "medicinal moose" but my mum sent me a thick pillow with my late puppy dog Colin on it... I know that'll get me thru.. -

Hey ngm!!! I'm glad you feel better today!! My psych always asks me after any sort of hiccup "so what did you learn?" I'm glad your little night snack reminded you it's just hunger and you can prepare a little more, drink more broth coffee pudding, to make this part of your journey easier actually our "Wendy's" here in aus only serve icecream shakes and those bullet-proof hotdogs! But I can imagine that their "edible food-like products " (as Michael Pollan would call) them are pretty bland... Oh and I too hope happy test results come your way soon so you don't have to worry! -

How Did You Know Surgery Was The Right Choice?
Cookeeeeez replied to mkb805's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think At this stage maybe you would find some counselling helpful in your decision. It seems to me (been there, done that) that you have a lot of self-esteem issues and maybe you're worried if you lose weight again you might not know who to trust... The funny thing is I made a lot of new friends in the early stages of anorexia that couldn't give me the time of day when I was in rehab, but as I more than tripled my weight I have met the love of my life and some lifelong friends... Sure the weight can make a difference but you need to know who you really are before you can let other people back in again I hope this helps, I'm set for June 2013 and as most on here know am taking this time to be thoroughly sure I'm ready for this step mentally! peace -

Yep, I agree with Louise as long as you put something on your plate then move it around you should be fine, actually take a doggy bag fill up your plate and start emptying it surreptitiously into the bag for later! You can feed yourself for a week for FREE!!!! Jk! It's none of their business what your eating -
