Whats On Your Bucket List?
Cookeeeeez replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hike to top of mt fuji in Japan!!! -
I'm so sorry the "why me" question is one doctors don't focus on enough, but it's your journey and your life and it has it's own meaning, try putting you illness into the whole of your life- is this part of the struggle something you can handle? Is it what you need to truly move on from the past? And could this untimely death remind you of what could have awaited you if you didn't change your life? Everything happens for a reason, death is part of life, but you still get to live!!! We're all thinking of you & praying for your recovery!

I agree with above but also suggest some therapy to help I'm worried the uncontrollable eating will jeopardise the safety of my sleeve post-op so I want to get a handle on it pre-op... At 1-2 years out we may gain weight otherwise!

So Upset! May Have To Re-Do The Surgery!
Cookeeeeez replied to Believer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh that's so awful! Maybe you should consider a revision to BPD (biliary pancreatic diversion). It keeps your sleeve but adds some malabsorptive features. I think your surgeon should cover some of the costs for this since they obviously left you with a sleeve the size of a BPD anyway!! Oh and I ate 6 slices of pizza tonight, I could have eaten more but stopped myself too- I totally get how you feel!!! Damn stomachs!!! -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Cookeeeeez replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thankyou Tracey, I really appreciate your prayers and kind words... I'm doing a bit better again now, I still sometimes zone-out when eating but am finding if I eat with people I'm a lot less self-conscious and even sharing my food diary on myfitnesspal I'm blessed to have the help I do and pray HP is looking after all of us here! *peace* -

Maybe you are a little dehydrated? If you're trying more soft foods then maybe getting less liquid so maybe a tiny sip will do the "flushing" thing to the food in there? -

Is Sleeve Success Possible Without Exercise?
Cookeeeeez replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I was going to suggest a therapy pool, but just be careful there is a lot of exercise involved in getting in there and showering after etc, I know because I've had to take my mum there, carry her bag, support her while she showers, wait in line to pay etc... She also has lupus which causes raynauds so she has trouble doing things with her hands such as weights or using her walker, so this also limits her exercise. But her weight does fluctuate significantly depending on diet, so I think you can get to a healthy comfortable weight without it, but obviously you would be happier (endorphines and all that) if you could find some daily activity that suits your fitness level happy travels -

Oh & yes some scarring of uterine lining may be responsible for decrease in libido and orgasm, however it is mostly associated with hormonal and psychological changes in the patient, so there is no definite either way. Supra Vaginal Uterine Amputation VS. Hysterectomy: Effects on libido and orgasm Pentti Kilkku1†, Matti Grönroos1, Toivo Hirvonen1 and Lauri Rauramo1 [...] Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica Vol. 62: 147-152 (Volume publication date: 1983)

The idea that female orgasm causes miscarriage is fundamentally untrue and in scholarly sources such as bernds & barash 1979 is only mentioned very tenuosly in regard to other mammals spontaneous abortions. further more this pseudo-scientific concept has been ignorantly misrepresented by male chauvinists such as Todd Akin to suggest that when women are raped the orgasm they recieve from the rape causes them to "shut the whole thing down.” This is of course incorrect as : "The national rape-related pregnancy rate is 5.0% per rape among victims of reproductive age (aged 12 to 45); among adult women an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year" http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/8765248/ The female orgasm is still as much a mystery as the male nipple and unless you have been diagnosed with implantation trouble then feel free to enjoy your sexuality. I use implanon contraceptive implant with my 7-year partner. It has the best contraceptive qualities, although the main reason for removal is troublesome bleeding. I haven personally experienced this... *peace*

Hi blokes! Sorry for the intrusion but I thought this might be the best place for this because it was written by a bloke I adopted my beautiful dog Rosie from a lovely lady named Joanne and it turns out she is the sister in law of Mel Gibson- that is, she's married to Chris Gibson. Anyway she gave me a copy of his autobiography and I really enjoyed it its a simple easy read but is motivating and reminds me why I'm trying a new way of doing things. Anyway he follows his own path, which I'm not necessarily into, but it may interest you or a loved one. Anyway, it's called Memoirs of a Fat Bastard How I Lost My Gut and Gained a Life By Chris Gibson Available here: http://www.fishpond.com.au/Books/Memoirs-of-Fat-Bastard-Chris-Gibson/9781405039901 And a small excerpt: Chris Gibson is one fat, drunk, angry bastard. He's tried every diet: Atkins, South Beach, Pritikin. Problem is, he still can't get his pants on in the morning. And he got none of the genes of his movie star brother Mel. In his early 40s with a job he hates and a lifestyle that is killing him, Chris is having more than a mid-life crisis. He's having a life-and-death crisis. Memoirs of a Fat Bastard is a bittersweet account of how a middle-aged man on the road to destruction turned his life and health around on his own terms. It's a telling and frequently hilarious story of the ways in which some men can lose their way, and the way back to finding meaning and happiness amid the competing pressures of being provider, family man, and all-round good Aussie bloke. P.S. I didn't get a discount on Rosie in return for plugging the book I just like the book and the person who wrote it Peace & Love

So Sad I Cannot Breathe
Cookeeeeez replied to Fun size's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I've had my share but you seem to get it too, a huge lot of change to be going through at the same time! I can only imagine how really scary it must be! Theres probably some confidence issues about her identity as a nurse and a woman all rolling around there too. I mean in our 20's nowadays we still go through that teenage identity crisis thing... Hey either way I'm super super glad she's ok! I think a nice therapist (just someone to boost self esteem and reduce negativity) some spa or massage to relax some physical tensions (I promise me time always helps) and maybe a change of diet or some detoxing and shell be much better in no time!!! I'm so thankful you brought thus to us as well, it helps reduce stigma for people like me who have a little more trouble coping than some *peace* *god bless* -

Hey honey your preaching to the converted where I'm concerned! We are doing this to have a really good tool to help but still human I know like me you will try your best and learn from mistakes. I try and help by taking what can be disheartening and spend a good half hour or so thinking "what was it really about? Hunger? Emotion? Texture? Taste? And can I do anything about it? What is possible if this is impossible? Can i learn anything to use in future situations? Hey your doing a hard hard thing! Just keep planning and try to smile everyday! I'm glad you felt safe to share! -
